I realize i don´t get it... "You", is that his girlfriend? Does he give up his "usual" life for here and then she dies?
Rendezvous is there last meeting, but is she already dead or does he knows shes going to leave? |

I think it's more about that she has been drinking away all her life at tyhe tavern, when she was younger she dreamt of things to do, now in the end she never done them, she just kept drinking.
I have always thought of this song as a sad song, that she regrets her life but these days I think that she aint dissapointed, the memories she has from her youth in the tavern is enough.
This is one song that is going to be played at my funeral :) |

Dont remember what filosofer who have wrote about it but I think this is about people who live in societys can´t be free. From the beginning we lost our clean and innocent minds, they are filled with our parents/societys beliefs and ideals, we cant think free and undisturbed when we are learnt to think in one way.
If you have seen "a beuftiful mind", Nash has kind of the same belif. He thinks attending lessons would be to lose his gift to see things clearly. Its harder to find something revolutionery when you adapt other persons thoughts and ideas. |

This reminds me a bit of myself when i think about it, family, friends and so on have always believed i am strong mentally and i have always helped people when their times got rough. Unforunatlly have something happend and im starting to lose controll over myself, never thought i would end up like this yust a few years ago and so did neither of the people i know...
