No Doubt – Suspension Without Suspense Lyrics 19 years ago
Not playing around with any specific-ness,
it`s about getting yourself into something without looking on it, & then just falling back to where you came from. The song title itself describes that perfectly & "We get so far & then it just starts rewinding..." is also a good reference to my interpretation.

Gwen Stefani – Now That You Got It Lyrics 19 years ago
Yo Gwen whatchu make him do?
Well I`ll; train him like a marine corps
Boot camp, make him like a superhero
"YES MA`AM!" That always better be his response or I don't give a dog a bone
ATTENTION!
Show me your skeletons
Let’s not play games
We can be closer than sharing last names
The award is purple heart
It could be yours
If you earn that medal
Yup, you could be my boy

Corrected lyrics...

ILOVETHAT!

Gwen Stefani – Fluorescent Lyrics 19 years ago
I can`t believe there are no comments on this, I LOVE this song, it`s my favorite on the new album. Or it`s up there atleast, I like the album as a whole it`s hard to choose a favorite. I just like the beat, I can`t pick out what it reminds me of, but it makes me happy. [:

Taking Back Sunday – You Know How I Do Lyrics 19 years ago
"Hazy eyes" is an obvious reference to drugs when connected to "smoked out in the back of the van."

Although I guess it was a problem, it just reminds me of chillin out & smoking pot. But still, don`t take that in offense, this is my favorite TBS song ever just because of how poetic it is & how good the words fit together,

Gym Class Heroes – So Long Friend Lyrics 19 years ago
It`s about loss which could be taken literally or metaphorically. Either way, it`s sad. & I love the reference to washing his hands. It`s like washing away pain in denial of things.

Gym Class Heroes – 7 Weeks Lyrics 19 years ago
Favorite Gym Class Heroes song although I`ve overplayed it badly. William Beckett adds to it a lot. But as simple as it is, it`s great.

Bright Eyes – The Movement of a Hand Lyrics 19 years ago
Their relationship seems very distant, but they`re in denial of it. The last line seems to describe learning to let go of what`s not especially good for you.

Bright Eyes – A Scale, a Mirror, and Those Indifferent Clocks Lyrics 19 years ago
I think that it`s about accepting yourself & coming out of the past.

"Here is a scale, weigh it out
And you will find, easily
More than sufficient doubt
That these colors you see
Were picked in advance
By some careful hand"

There`s more to yourself than numbers on a scale, which can be used literally as in weight, & metaphorically as in balance. It can be taken either or both ways, but in my opinion, it explains that there`s more to things than the eye can see.

"They are smeared and these blurs
Come in random order"

I see that as being unsure. Blurs maybe feeling doubtful of yourself sometimes hence the random order.

"Now I know a disease
That these doctors can’t treat"

When I first hear/see that, I think of eating disorders but that`d be taking it literally & I think there`s more meaning to it. I think all together it`s how you see yourself, mentally & phisically. No one can change your perception of yourself besides yourself & in some cases it is sort of a disease.

"Is a mirror and a mirror is all it can be
A reflection of something we’re missing"

Once again, there`s more to yourself than the eye can see & misunderstanding yourself while never taking the time to find out what you really are.

"And these clocks keep unwinding
And completely ignore
Everything that we hate or adore"

Becoming apathetic or even more positive about things.

"Once the page of a calendar is turned it’s no more
So tell me, then, what was it for?
Oh, tell me, what was it for?"

Living in the past. He`s questioning the unecassary negativity when today is a new day. There`s so much repeated imagery on the album though & it`s used in different aspects, this is just my personal opinion.

Bright Eyes – I Watched You Taking Off Lyrics 19 years ago
In my opinion, it`s about realization. It`s about finally snapping into reality. It`s a comparison of the pessimist & the optimist in him. It feels like he`s learning to accept.

"As the wings catch the sunlight of this cold Nebraska skyline
This is the dream I am dying in
I will wake to find tomorrow
Be content without perfection"

He`s not always getting what he wants, but he`s learning to take it as it is & as it will be.

Bright Eyes – Drunk Kid Catholic Lyrics 19 years ago
It`s obviously a comparison between drinking & Catholisism. A metaphoric one at that, but it`s definitely not about Catholics who drink. I don`t know if Conor`s Catholic? I know he went to a Catolic school, but I`m going with that he`s not when I say this. It tells how both want to be saved but I think that it tells how religion reels you into believing something that maybe isn`t true but you hope for what they tell you & just take it as it is, hoping to be saved. It`s similar to alcohol I guess, if you`re an avid drinker because it gets habitual such as practicing religion & you hope for the best of it, hoping to be saved. The rest seems to explain how he`s somewhat dependant on alcohol saving him like other people are dependant on religion. Maybe? That`s my concept.
