William Fitzsimmons – Please Forgive Me (Song of the Crow) Lyrics 15 years ago
Quote from William Fitzsimmons about this song from an interview he did for faceculture.tv: "It's the attitude that I’ve tried to have for the last couple years - to just be humble, to just try to make up for things that I’ve done in the past. I think that’s the best way, for at least me to live - to try to be at peace with everyone as best I can, and myself. That’s taken on an increasingly important role every single day and hopefully I’ll never forget that."

Anathallo – Tower of Babel Lyrics 17 years ago

The story of the tower of Babel:

Genesis 11:1 Now the whole earth had one language and few words. ... 4 Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth." 5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the sons of men had built. 6 And the LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; and nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. 9 Therefore its name was called Ba'bel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth. (Revised Standard Version)

The last lines in the song remind me one part in C.S. Lewis' description of heaven in 'The Great Divorce.' Some people visit heaven and even their feet get cut on the blades of grass. That world was so much more real to them than the unreality of regular life they were used to.

"Keep your wounds clean and sour." I'm reaching here, but maybe this line also connects to the world-to-come. Sometimes we can get "wounds" when we chance to encounter something of that other ultra-real world. If we were to keep these wounds clean (to protect from further infection) and sour (to remind us that the wounds hurt), then we'd remember how we got the wounds in the first place. Such wounds could prepare us more for that glorious restoration of what was lost in Eden and scattered at Babel.

Anathallo – The River Lyrics 17 years ago
Copied from Anathallo's blog at http://yourhappymakesmegooldies.blogspot.com/2008/10/being-open-to-our-current-current.html

"Here are the lyrics for 'The River.' Erica and I wrote them after hearing about an experience that her mom had while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. She was crossing a river and the current swept her away. Due to the weight of her pack, she couldn't get to a bank and was certain that she was going to die. Upon that realization, she leaned back, calmed her senses and enjoyed what she thought would be her last living moments... she observed everything with a concentrated mindfulness as she passed underneath the glow of light pouring through the canopy of leaves. This is a half fictional retelling. (She was saved - just so you know)"
