| Vertical Horizon – Everything You Want Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| Guys this is soooo much more than a song about unrequited love. The girl in this song has a mood/personality disorder. Maybe borderline or histrionic. Due to neglect or abuse as a child by someone she loved (the angels who won't return), she is unable to understand love the way most of us do. She desperately wants help (waiting for someone to put her together) but expects rejection (waiting for someone to push her away). She is unable to recognize what is good for her (never could get it unless your were fed it, chorus) and so she unwitting sabotages all good relationships (another wound to discover, something more you wish he'd say, chorus). It's more than loving someone who doesn't love you back, it's the frustration of loving someone who CAN'T love you back. Not in the same way. | |

OK, does this sound like a giant screw you to 3DG fans or what? The overt meaning is obviously drugs, but the lyrics can definitely be interpreted to mean music too. People were hooked on 3DGs old sound. I was. It was like an addiction. But with Adam gone and Transit of Venus kinda sucking, people are obviously upset. Matt steps in and says, "Don't worry, I'm here to pick up the slack. I'll make the hurt of losing Adam go away." He becomes the next best thing, and therefore the shoulder we cry on. Apparently we're going to love him until it's over, meaning he's here to stay so get used to it. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Maybe it's exactly as shallow as it seems. But frankly, their last great album was One-X, and the commercially biggest song off the album was Pain. Now Matt is saying he's going to be the Pain-killer. To me, this song says, "This is who we are now. It's all you've got, so you can like it or go with nothing." |

| Your Favorite Enemies – Little Sister Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Sounds to me like the song is about suicide. The girl obviously died as implied by lines like "your face is like winter and you eyes seem so dry." "Wonderland's fading" also seems to be saying the world is fading around her as if drifting off to sleep. "A man to gently say how wonderful she used to be" sounds like a eulogy. I guess it never specifies suicide, I just assumed from the mental illness references that she did. | |
| A Day to Remember – Right Back at It Again Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Basically a continuation of City of Ocala, it's further reflection of their becoming superstars. This one seems to be more of a "screw you" to the people who told them to get real jobs and grow up. I hate the ending of this song but overall it's a good tune. | |
| A Day to Remember – City of Ocala Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Pretty obvious meaning. They just got back to their hometown and are reflecting on the journey to becoming superstars. Great song, love the energy. | |
| One Less Reason – September Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I may be reading too much into it, but it really seesms to me like he's lamenting his father (or mother I suppose) leaving when he was a kid. Some of the lines seem innocent and then later are replaced by more bitter counterparts. Just my take. | |
| Adelitas Way – I Can Tell Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| After listening to it some more, 'What if it's never enough' should definitely be 'but it was never enough.' Sorry I didn't catch that earlier. | |
| Adelitas Way – I Can Tell Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
There was a few minor mistakes in the lyrics but there were also some pretty big ones. Here are the correct lyrics with the corrections in all caps: I can tell by the way When I'm holding you tight Something IS wrong No it's never been right I can SEE by the way That you stare in my eyes It's empty in you And there's nothing inside What if I told you That I've been thinking and I've been dreaming of you And all the things I always thought that we'd do What if it's never enough OH I can't FIGURE OUT WHY you don't love me now So why'd you tear me down I'm faceless in the CROWD So tell me IS THIS real Because I can't help but feel I'm heading for heartache Can I make you feel Like you've never been kissed Like a picture you paint Will I ever be missed Would you stay if I told you My love wouldn't change If your HAIR turns GREY If you GAIN a little WEIGHT What if I told you That I've been thinking and I've been dreaming of you And all the things I always thought that we'd do What if it's never enough OH I can't FIGURE OUT WHY you don't love me now So why'd you tear me down I'm faceless in the CROWD So tell me IS THIS real Because I can't help but feel I'm heading for heartache I'm heading for heartache I'm not giving you up I'm not giving you up I'm heading for heartache OH I can't FIGURE OUT WHY you don't love me now So why'd you tear me down I'm faceless in the CROWD So tell me IS THIS real Because I can't help but feel I'm heading for heartache |

| Adelitas Way – Sick Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| There's a couple of mistakes in the lyrics. Instead of "can't pay the rent," it's simply "can't pay for it." Also, the end of the chorus is "watch it all come down," not "watch it all drop down." Also, the album version replaces "same old trip" with "same old s***," though the radio version is what you have here as far as that goes. Otherwise seems right. | |
| Breaking Benjamin – The Diary of Jane Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| And apparently not so very modest. How's this: He's lost someone dear to him and either never told her or else has doubts about her feelings and now just wants to know if he ever meant anything to her. Hence, trying to find his place in a diary. See? I can do it too. BTW, your comment was not as clear and concise as you imagine. | |
| Three Days Grace – Break Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree with vane. Can't wait for the new cd. Skillet, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace. This is a perfect month for music. | |
| Skillet – Awake And Alive Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Meaning is pretty obvious. Ladies and gentlemen, Skillet has just taken over the charts again. | |
| Adelitas Way – Scream Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Sounds kinda like rough sex but i don't get how the verses go along with that idea | |
| Sick Puppies – You're Going Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think it also says When my fist hits your face and your face hits the floor. They changed the radio version to make it less violent i guess |
|
| Disturbed – Sons of Plunder Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I don't know, it sounds to me like he's saying fame. Makes more sense. Maybe it's a typo. Also, someone made a comment about the word pimping being in reference to rap music. I don't think this is necessarily the case. He could just be drawing an extended metaphor: the record companies are like the pimps willing to grap and use any stupid band that's willing to whore themselves out for a buck and few minutes of fame and pleasure. Don't always like Disturbed subject matters, but you have to respect them for their originality and A+ vocabularies. Score one for the hard-rocking smart kids | |
| Nightwish – Cadence of Her Last Breath Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The more i listen to this song, the more it sounds like she's saying "see what breath/death will mean" instead of "save one breath/death for me". I think it makes more sense too. I'm not sure where you got these lyrics so i could be totally wrong. Does it sound like that to anyone else? | |
| Nightwish – Cadence of Her Last Breath Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think the line "sometimes a dream turns into a dream" is a chilling reality check. Many people talk about their dream job or their dream house but how quickly it can become just that. a dream. Seeing her everyday and working with her all the time was like a dream. Now because of the unfortunate turn of events, it is reduced to nothing more. A dream. | |
| Sugarland – Just Might (Make Me Believe) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I'm not sure it's really about problems with the relationship so much as just stresses from the world bearing down on them in such a way that all they have to hang on to is each other and they just need a reminder of that now and then. Easy to get distracted and that's when other problems arise. Beautiful song | |
| Story of the Year – We're Not Gonna Make It Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I'm totally impressed with the amount of emotion packed into this song. Such a roller coaster. Second only to Me Vs. the World by Madina Lake for sheer amazing vocals. Great writing and sung in a way that just sucks you in. Meaning is self explanitory. Such a wonderful song | |
| Disturbed – The Curse Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| yeah it's all to a point of exaserbation but i think the second time he says beyond the point of imagination. The more i listen to this song the more it sounds like a guy who's clung to some sort of sinking ship (relationship, job, etc) and is now realizing that whatever he put most of his faith into has now fallen apart and though he tried to deny it, he has to acknowledge that it's time to move on. That's how the first part of the chorus makes it seem. Wasted years and a lot of anger with no end in sight. Amen | |
| Three Days Grace – Are You Ready? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| yeah this song was on the deluxe version of the self titled album and also on the cursed soundtrack. You can get it on itunes or rhapsody | |
| Disturbed – Facade Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Come on people. Disturbed is a pretty hard band but these guys have a brain at least. If you don't maybe you shouldn't listen to them. Or else you get confused by the freakin two syllable words. Facade is a french word that means a guise, a show, an illusion, etc. Unless you want to explain to me how this girl in an abusive relationship is similar to the face of a wall. | |
| Disturbed – Torn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yup i have no clue what this song is about. Good song though as is typical of the boys | |
| Disturbed – The Curse Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Sounds like just a guy that doesn't like who he's become and recognizes the need to change. | |
| Disturbed – Haunted Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It sounds like he's criticizing someone who gave in to pain and pressure while he was also undergoing some stress or whatever but he kept it together. I dunno. I suck at this. Just my interpretation | |
| Disturbed – Deceiver Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Not entirely sure what this song means. Sounds almost like his heart is being played with and every time he tries to break free she pulls him back in. He knows he's better off without her but he also knows the only way that'll ever happen is if he dies, which at this point is more desirable than the constant struggle | |
| Shinedown – Devour Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is sick! When did shinedown get this heavy? I mean they weren't bad before but my god. We got a new disturbed on the loose. | |
| Three Days Grace – Now Or Never Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ok this is probably my favorite TDG song. This or time of dying. Or...god how do you pick one? All so good. Most amazing band ever. Keep it up guys | |
| Three Days Grace – Now Or Never Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ok this is probably my favorite TDG song. This or time of dying. Or...god how do you pick one? All so good. Most amazing band ever. Keep it up guys | |
| Evans Blue – Blackhole Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| it's not, "She'll never give a shit. It's, "She'll never get enough of it." or maybe I have the edited version cuz this is off a video game... | |
| Emery – Studying Politics Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love the background vocals in this song. They get the emotion across with the two lines that come through clearly as the lead does throughout the whole song. Especially when he sings, "There's that smie again." Amazing line. This is a truly amazing song and should be a lot bigger than i is, now. | |
| Drive By – ...You're Not Alone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Decent song but they'll never amount to anything | |
| Dropkick Murphys – The State of Massachusetts Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Two comments? Come on, this is an amazing song. Pretty straightforward meaning; she couldn't take care of her kids and they took them away. Again, awesome song. By the way, for all of you out-of-staters, DSS is the Department of Social Services. They take care of troubled kids, orphans, kids of divorced parents, etc. |
|
| Evans Blue – The Pursuit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| What I absoluetly love about Evans Blue is that all of their songs are basically aout the same thing and probably the same person. Cold But I'm Still Here is about loving someone who doesn't love you. So is Over. Beg is about giving up tha girl to the guy she has chosen and this song is a prequel to that. Yet, dispite the dispair and desperation they use at times, I.E. "Am I ever on your mind?", there's often a sarcastic element. I.E. "Tell me how to love you like anybody else would." He's in love but obviously burned by this girl and is somewhat sick of the way things are. This perfectly describes a relationship I'm in now, it's like I wrote these songs. These guy are amazing and should be a lot bigger than they are right now. | |
| Killswitch Engage – The Arms of Sorrow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Five comments?!?! Come on people, this is such an awesome song. I think they do have Christian lyrics but really a lot of songs could be classified that way. Pretty much any song these days that has a happy ending is considered Christian. Any whiney song is considered emo unless it has a sick bass in which case we call it hard rock. Anything with twang is country and anything with voice flutters is pop. It's fairly stereotypical and usually inaccurate but that's how it seems people classify music. It could just mean that he is sick of being miseable and is coming out of it. But it could point to God, many bands do songs like that nowadays. | |
| Breaking Benjamin – Firefly Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think he does say "I caught your lie." Not "I cut your line." | |
| AFI – Miss Murder (Director's Cut) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song is about Jesus. "How his children cried. He left us all behind." He's looking at Jesus as a charlotan. "I would gladly bet my life upon it. That the ghost you love, your ray of light Will fizzle out without hope." He seems like he used to believe in Jesus or God but has been let down by mainstream religion (as way too many have) and has turn atheist. "We're the empty set just floating through, wrapped in skin, Ever searching for what we were promised. Reaching for that golden ring we'd never let go." Good song but not a viewpoint I share. |
|
| My Chemical Romance – Famous Last Words Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| No, he definately says I'll be forgiving. Watch the studio version on AOL music. Dang, I knew this had to be their next single. I'm havign a debate with a friend; the next single should be what do you think: Dead or Disenchanted? | |
| Rise Against – Ready To Fall Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| To me, this song sounds like it's about a homecoming. This person has been gone for a while and has come back, possibly to a past love. "I know I've been gone for what seems like forever but I'm here now waiting." Then, he doesn't get the warm welcome he was expecting because she's bitter "She said just go on...pretend it's your life but please don't die on me" and decides there's nothing worth staying for. "I took one last look from the heights that I once loved and then I ran like hell." He still wishes the person well, however. "If there's a time these walls could gaurd you then let that time be right now." | |
| Rise Against – Prayer Of The Refugee Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I completely agree with sanux. Rock lyrics are shifting to accomodate the feelings of teenagers more and more. Just look at guys like Three Days Grace and Sum 41. | |
| Sugarland – Want To Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| WHY DOES NO ONE POST ON THESE GUYS? THEY"RE AWESOME! | |
| Evans Blue – Cold (But I'm Still Here) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song definitely gives me the chills. It sounds so cool. What does the first verse mean? | |
| My Chemical Romance – Disenchanted Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Are disenchanted and Disenchanted Shut Up and Play two different songs? The lyrics are similar but I've never heard Shut Up and Play. Sorry guys, I'm kind of new on the rock scene. Great song, by the way. Best on the CD. And I think he says, "It was a lie when they smiled," not, "It was alive when they smiled." | |
| Sugarland – Want To Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It looks like its about a girl who has a fling on vacation or something and realizes that she loves him. I'm not sure about the ending if she stayed or not. Any takers? | |
| Flyleaf – Fully Alive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah, there's two versions to this song. The one without the prechorous is better, though. By the way, why is this their only good song? They have such sweet riffs and she has an awesome voice but their other songs absolutely bite. | |
| Powerman 5000 – Bombshell Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Hey guys, check the name of the site. It's songmeanings.net not blastthecrapoutofanybandyoudon'tlike.net. Does anyone know what this song is about because I don't? | |
| Three Days Grace – Home Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Interesting, just as I clicked to add that post, the video for this song came on my Yahoo video player. I think the video is supposed to be him when he has finally left. The creepy woman (his mom?) is looking everywhere for him. she picks up a baseball bat to show her malice while he is on the phone screaming at her. When she finds him, she goes insane with rage and starts taking out her anger on everything else. I'm opent o corrections though. | |
| Three Days Grace – Home Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| TDG does a lot of the child perspective songs and I think this is the same. I'm 15 and I just moved out from my mom's house. Between her and my stepdad, I can relate to every aspect of this song. (Except the part about getting stoned. I am completely clean and always have benn :) | |
| Three Days Grace – Pain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Amen | |
| Three Days Grace – Pain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
You know, I hate to throw a wrench in this now that people sort of agree on the meaning, but to me this sounds like it's about sympathy. I heard about this guy who died the other day. No big deal, car accident. He was speeding in the rain, it's his own fault. But one of my friends knew him well and she was actually at the scene. She was a complete mess and I realized that I wanted to sympathize with her. I wanted to feel the pain she was going through. And when I felt a twinge, I wanted to feel more. I had this strange craving for empathy. I don't know if that makes sense, but that's how I felt and that's what this song seems to mean. It also conveys that message with the part where he says: "I know (I know I know I know I know) That you're wounded You know (You know you know you know) That I'm here to save you You know (You know you know you know you know) I'm always here for you I know (I know I know I know) That you'll thank me later" He's there for whoever, he's there to save them. That's hgow the song came across to me. Great video, by the way. Check it out on Yahoo music. |
