I guess its one of those "it takes one to know one" moments but here goes. People, the line "we do it in the dark" is one of a series of phrases for all nerds, geeks, and dorks who've used this to prove they have sex too! For example, a viola player would say "we do it with our legs spread wide," or a theater dork would say "we do it on the stage," so in this case "we do it in the dark" is meant for drama techies or geeks who work on the equipment and lighting backstage, therefore are always in the dark during productions. The first stanza is much evidence of this. The song is slightly reminiscent of a 10 year reunion. "Wouldn't you rather be a widow than a divorcee" sounds like the geek talking to a girl who used to pick on him. Now he's a hotshot musician "flash flash photography" and hes say nyaah nyaah while she's suffering through her shitty marriage with jock boy. also it seems like a thinly veiled song about something else i guess. Im not a big FOB groupie like you all, so this "fan song" thing is probably right too. |

Beautifully cryptic. If its about drugs, its about drugs. But the bits about showing them our hearts sounds so epic. My personal fav. is the last stanza, "there goes today" that is an amazing range for this guy. I'm in awe. |

This song has such beautiful vocals, as the others. But i agree with SuMgUy. We've all been in situations where we feel one thing and the othe person feels something completely different. But in many instances, we stay because of either the time put into a relationship, or even more radically, just the sheer spectacle of it all. Love is the most extravagant(and i've never felt so invincible) and scary(dont tear us apart again) thing one can do and as destructive(chemistry of a car crash) as it is, sometimes its easier to stay with all the issues then leave and deal with them on your own. But obviously the person in this song realizes it isn't worth the pain and opts to let go. You can see there are problems in the second stanza. you’re lost for tonight again that’s what you wanted? your arms to your side again.. Seems like a fight to me. |

I don't know if this will make a difference, but in the first stanza where they say: but gentlemen they don't ask questions (we could laugh about it or..) Just keep quiet and pay attention (we both showed love for..) Gentlemen, they don' t ask questions (we could laugh about it or...) We could pay attention... what that implies? haha who knows. he's gay. (j/k) |
