Marillion – No Such Thing Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is amazing - I can't believe there are no comments yet!!

My interpretation: This song is about removing perspective from everything and realising that, on a grand cosmic scale, nothing really ever "is". Such a great song to just drift away to!

Interested in what others think!

This song is their best. Love this line: "Rael stands astonished doubting his sight, Struck by beauty, gripped in fright". Progressive rock is sick!

Play this track while playing old school Mario/Zelda roms when you get to the cloud world. Seriously, try it.

Marillion – Drilling Holes Lyrics 19 years ago
To me, this is a song about one of those lazy-Sundays. Basically it's just a recollection of the events that took place in a house/neighbourhood, whilst everyone is just chilling enjoying themselves.

I love the vocals in the chorus, nice and relaxed. Four stars.

Marillion – Genie Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm probably wrong, but I reckon this song is about the transition from childhood into adulthood. Letting the "genie out of the box" is a metaphor that refers to losing one's virginity.

The "I'm scared of opening the can" could relate to his fear of going for the gold, so to speak. The "she" is the chick he's with, who is obviously pressuring him for some action ("come back when you're alone", "maybe her road is a one-way street"). She senses his discomfort, and basically assures him that he'll always have his childhood memories, "She said there's a house in your mind..Don't leave it behind".

The "I let the genie out of the box" lyrics at the start and middle are just him trying to prepare for the feeling by attempting to convince himself, however at the end - after she comforts him - he actually let's it out of the box.

Whatever the meaning, this song kicks ass. Five stars.
