The meaning of this song to me was simply the love of a man for a woman, and not wanting to lose her. then i read the meaning wikipedia had.
"Its story is told from the perspective of a man in Africa awaiting his female partner's inbound flight. The protagonist looks forward to their time together during the rainy season as it grants a reprieve from his normal responsibilities. The song's catchy chorus incorporates metaphor for his determination to guard his time with her: "It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you / There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do / I bless the rains down in Africa / Gonna take some time to do the things we never had"."
It puts a new perspective on the song for me. In addition, i do like the interpretation made by the guy (forget the name) on page 1 that there is no actual girl in the song, but it is Africa he's talking about using 'her'. |

people who think that "new metallica" is horrible and that the band is finished are completely wrong. sure, this isn't their greatest albums, but it's no disgrace. one of the reasons why metallica are so good is their diversity. they don't need the same music style for their whole career to remain a good band.
on to the song, i said that it wasn't the best album ever, but this is a great song. |
