| Pain of Salvation – Morning On Earth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song directly follows Ashes, after "he" and "she" have gotten together. It's stirred new feelings in 'he'. Maybe there's feelings of regret; that this was wrong. Maybe 'he' feels they were too young for this? | |
| Sonata Arctica – Two Minds, One Soul (Vanishing Point cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| A cover of an Australian band named 'Vanishing Point'. Their version doesn't seem to be on this site. | |
| Dream Theater – The Ministry of Lost Souls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Does anyone else hear The Beatles in this song? When I heard the guitar in it I was instantly reminded of 'Real Love'. Either way, it sounds good. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Enter Rain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song continues from Flame to the Moth, now 'He' actually jumps off the building. "Running, standing, falling" "In two seconds I will hit the ground" "A street of blood" Also note, "Seven years ago..." could refer to TPE part I. |
|
| Dream Theater – A Change of Seasons Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Has anyone else noticed the 'Carpe diem, seize the day' whisper sounds almost exactly like how Robin Williams whispers it in Dead Poets Society? They also quote the 'Gather ye rosebuds while ye may...' poem in the same scene of the film. |
|
| Pain of Salvation – Flame To The Moth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| To add to my previous comment, he may actually jump at the very end of this song. You can hear the sound of wind, after the muic dramatically ends... | |
| Pain of Salvation – Flame To The Moth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It seems to me like someone (probably "He") is going to commit suicide here. It's enforced with lyrics like: "One small step for man Maybe this time I'll fly And if I hit the ground, it's the way we all die" There's a photo in the the album booklet of feet on the edge of a roof, and another of a man falling. In 'Enter Rain', I believe "He" finally jumps. |
|
| Liquid Tension Experiment – Biaxident Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is definitely related to About to Crash from 6DOIT. They sound very similar (compare the piano intros), and About to Crash is about someone suffering from bipolar disorder and this song is named *Bi*axident. | |
| Dream Theater – The Mirror Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The lyrics get even more interesting if you assume that he's the only one in the song, he's talking to himself in the mirror. What he was, the good; and what he now is, what he addiction has made him, seperated by the mirror. It makes sense if it's about realising an addiction. "How in the hell could you possibly forgive me? After all the hell I put you through" For example. |

| Dream Theater – Vacant Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Kris, just because it was written after Disppear, doesn't mean it can't be a prequel, even if they're based on real events. Great song, very similar to Disappear, I can see why people make the connection. This song definitely seems like it's about someone suffering from Alzheimer's disease. |
|
| Dream Theater – The One Who Help to Set the Sun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I agree with Crusher about the intro. I really like the song, possibly the best off the album, but the intro is fantastic in it's own way and doesn't really suit the song. Sometimes I find myself listening to the intro alone. I miss Kevin Moore & DT. |
|
| Pain of Salvation – In The Flesh Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Keeping it simple, it seems to be about child abuse (possibily sexual), perhaps from a parent, and how it's affected her life, who she is. | |
| Ensiferum – LAI LAI HEI Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Fixed now. Great song, epic and full of energy, and the style is quite different from the rest fo the album. |
|
| Tom Lehrer – New Math Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Songs like this and the Elements Song really show his abilities, he's a talented guy! | |
| Ensiferum – LAI LAI HEI Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The last verse is the English translation, it's sun in Finnish like the first verse. There's also a line missing after "The lakes are echoing with our song", which is "Shadows are dancing on the forrest floor" | |
| Pain of Salvation – New Year's Eve Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about humanity ignoring the problems in the world, pretending it's not happening or they're not to blame. The person taking us on the journey through this album makes a new year's resolution to end his part in the wrong doing, and learn the result of mankind's acts (war, pollution, etc.). | |
| Golden Earring – Twilight Zone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Interesting note, at the very start of the song the lyrics can be heard very quietly, backwards, in the right channel. When reversed, I can make out: "...the loose, sirens on my head... My whole life spins into...". | |
| R.E.M. – Shiny Happy People Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this song a bit "unhappy". I've not given much thought to any meaning, but there's definitely something below the surface, be it sarcasm, irony or something else. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Inside Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The concrete lake mentioned in this song is Lake Karachay in Russia, which was a dump for nuclear waste. The lake is now entirely covered in concrete. I don't know about now, but at one time standing at the shore of the lake for a mere hour would cause death in about a fortnight. "I have only some weeks to give But at last…I live." "Just give it all an hour By the Concrete Lake!" I've read the idea is that for anyone to fully understand the wrongs of the world mentioned throughout the album, all they'd have to do is stand by the lake for an hour, which is what this song is all about. |
|
| Pain of Salvation – Leaving Entropia (Epilogue) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I see this song as finding the positive in life, trying to change for the better. Live for yourself, don't get caught up in others' ideals. There's almost a carpe diem theme going on too. It's a nice end to the album, a more postive although almost bittersweet song. (The 12:5 version is great!) |
|
| Pain of Salvation – Ending Theme Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Basically about the main character getting away to try and find himself, and confusing love with sex with the girl he meets in Budapest. One of the best off the album, the singing in the long verse is just wonderfully exectued. |
|
| Porcupine Tree – Heartattack in a Lay By Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| One thing I love in this song I just noticed today. I'd somehow missed before that there's backing vocals doing an ambulance siren sound. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Ashes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| An excellent song, wonderful chorus. Although I must say it's one of the only songs I didn't really care for on 12:5... to me it didn't work in the more uplifting style. That may just be because I'm so stuck on the original though. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Black Hills Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The Black Hills is a place in America, said to eb sacred ground by the natives. I believe this song is about uranium mining, dumping and pollution around this or similar areas in America. There is a passage before the lyrics in the album book that reads: "They tell all the people of Europe it's a good, clean industry, it's a great way to save the world. But I'm here to tell you that now they are knocking on our door because they can't find any place to store the damned stuff for eternity. They come to our homeland and they want to lease some land for 10,000 years!" These words are an exerpt from James Garrett's speech at the World Uranium Hearing. |
|
| Pain of Salvation – Home Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Basically, about indigenous people whose land has been occupied by another group. The first thought most would have would be the native Americans, but I don't know if the song is just about that specific situation. There have been others. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Diffidentia (Breaching the Core) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I believe this song to about the development of man, and science. Mankind has changed so much from the way God created them, and many of them now no longer believe in a God (Imago is man and Animae is God). The shards analogy is in another song on the album, mankind were shards of the whole, together they made their creator, but that was then and this is now. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Omni Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is about mankind (Imago) and an intelligent space probe (Nauticus). Mankind builds and launches Nauticus in the hope it will find the answer to their problems. They are in trouble, their own planet is becoming unlivable due to mankind's actions and they're rapidly running out of time. The organ playing in this song really adds to the song I feel, very dramtic; brings a sense of mourning or doom. |
|
| Pain of Salvation – Imago (Homines Partus) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Imago is "Man". This song deals with the begining of mankind, and them learning about themselves. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Thorn Clown Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Japanese bonus track on Remedy Lane, comes between 'This Heart of Mine' and 'Undertow'. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Latericius Valete Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| At this point in the story, the earth's population is now decreasing rapidly. Things have caught up with mankind, and they're in trouble. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Dryad of the Woods Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
No lyrics obviously but there is a verse/poem in the album booklet for this song: "Then came a girl A dryad of the woods With a sign over her door saying "If you enter You must forgive me everything!" With a heart too big and brave To let me disappear And still I hear "May I sleep at your feet?" And so she went over my fence And reached out a hand That I had to take That I just had to take" |
|
| Pain of Salvation – Animae Partus (I Am) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is about Animae. A being that does not know its origins or meaning, so wants to try and learn them. As the album continues, you learn that he is our 'God', and he creates mankind in his image, in an attempt to learn of his own origins. |
|
| Pain of Salvation – Deus Nova Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Deus Nova, 'New God'. The first part of the song is obviously the 'exponential' increase in human population. The second part is Animae speaking (God). He created man in his image, in an attempt to understand his own origins. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Oblivion Ocean Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Daniel explained the "9 words" in an interview. He thought of life - a very short period of time when compared to 'nonlife' or 'death', everything that happened before and happens after your life. That time is an eternity. "Dad tell me will I be dead very long?" | |
| Pain of Salvation – Iter Impius Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| A fantastic song, one of my favourite off the album, one of my favourites by the band! The title is latin and can be translated as "Wicked Path". The song's about Mr. Money, a wealthy man who wanted to have it all. He was cryogenically frozen but when he woke it was to a used up world. No forests, no oceans, no people. Just the ruins left by mankind. | |
