When I hear it, I think he by wasting time, he means doing the day-to-day bullshit like working or going to school when at the same time you're trying to have a fulfilling life and worrying about finding love and avoiding death. |

When I saw them live, Maynard said this song was about how people can't understand why someone would want to be suicidal, which would mean the lyrics are sarcastic. I do realize that it may very well may have been (and hopefully was) a joke. |

Actually, thinking back on that interview, I remember one of the two songs being begun around 1985-1987, so that's 12-14 years before APC. At the same time, if those years pertain to "The Noose", then "The Hollow" could have been started closer to 20 years before APC, since I remember for a fact that he said he began writing it first. Yeah, this isn't all that important, but I just felt like clarifying so if someone knows better, I don't seem like I'm talking out of my ass. |

Some people argue about who writes the songs to A Perfect Circle, and I'd just like to say that Billy Howerdel says in an interview that he began writing songs such as "The Hollow" and "The Noose" as much as 20 years prior to the creation of APC. Since Howerdel is credited for song writing and - though I don't know Keenan's contributions to "The Noose" or what the lyrics were before them (if there were any) - he wrote the song pre-APC, he should be given credit for this song moreso than Maynard. |
