Can't We All Dream? Lyrics
Love is in the air
Hate is in the air
Death is in the air
Wait, yeah...
Let me think for a moment
About a world with painted paper
And so much cement,
So much cement.
So what is if for and meant? Never?
I don't understand why
A fool? Yeah? Oh?
I built a ship this afternoon
I plan to sail it up to the moon.
I want to fly, I want to fly,
A fool? Yeah?
I want to fly, I want to fly, I want...
Can't we all dream?
Can't we all dream?
I want to fly up to the moon then to somewhere new
I want to sail somewhere new.
Can't we all dream?
Hate is in the air
Death is in the air
Let me think for a moment
About a world with painted paper
And so much cement,
So much cement.
I don't understand why
A fool? Yeah? Oh?
I plan to sail it up to the moon.
I want to fly, I want to fly,
A fool? Yeah?
I want to fly, I want to fly, I want...
Can't we all dream?
I want to sail somewhere new.

I love this song, deffinatly one of my favorites, can't believe no one has commented here. I'm not really 100% clear of what it's about, but its a good song
Beautiful song - a dreamer's anthem.
I agree, this song is very moving, very subtle and still, very powerful. I think it's about the world that doesn't let people think different. If someone tries to "dream" about a better, different way, they don't listen to him at all or consider him a lunatic.
So can't we all dream? Really, if we can, why don't we? Why are we so afraid to change something inside us and see what will change outside in response?
That's what this song is about, I think...
Isn't he saying "Hate is everywhere, Death is everywhere" at the beginning?
Sounds a lot like it to me... Still a brilliant song. Although admitedly the "Can't we all dream" part gets a bit boring... Also sounds like he says "Can we all dream?" at least once during that part.
Hmmm, i really can't get into this song, i prefer the full on- chaotic tech metal Sikth usually deliver, when tracks like this come along it just bores me to death. Thats why the second album will always be more solid to me.
My take on this song is that it's about someones' personal expectations on what they can and can't achieve in life, wishing they could achieve more than they feel they realistically could, hence 'can't we all dream'. The repetition of can't we all dream suggests to me that desperate attempt to realise what seems impossible to us( those unattainable 'dreams') and the lines about 'sailing to the moon' relate to how ridiculous all our dreams seem in those moments when we accept defeat and realise how stupid it was to dream of such unrealistic things.
Am I the only one who is reminded of Arizona Dream?
Painted paper seems like a reference to money and cement being symbolic of cities.
Cant we all dream? Cant we all dream? Cant we all dream? Cant we all dream? Cant we all dream? Cant we all dream? Cant we all dream? Cant we all dream?Cant we all dream?Cant we all dream?Cant we all dream?Cant we all dream?
