I think I see this as talking about himself and Elliott Smith. There are a lot of similarities between this song and some of elliott's, esp. "twilight". Also, Elliott Smith also said that he believed he was molested as a child. This song is great though, hauntingly sad and beautiful. |

anyone who thinks this is about harry potter just because the title has "avada kedavra" in it is delusional, no offense. it's just talking about dying, not about harry potter. I think it's about a guy who's sad because he keeps these letters around probably from a previous lover. So he gets piss drunk and decides to drive home, closes his eyes, and dies. I'm thinking the "sky explodes and only you know" means that he dies. (Only he knows, everyone else goes on living, until it's their time for the sky to explode) great lyrics in this song. |

I love this band. His voice is great in this song. I agree that some of these lyrics arent all that great, but in general I think they're good. I disagree that "Just because it hurts, don't mean that it's love" is bad lyrics. I think they're great in this song. I think this band'll be huge someday. |

I personally don't see this as a christian song at all, no offense. It just doesn't make sense to say "I want to be like you God" Or, "I never knew you God" it doesn't really fit at all in my opinion. At best, Christianity is underlying in this song, but I prefer to think it's about people in general, or as d.walk said, about his fans. More fitting IMO.

I honestly think that this might be the best love song ever written, anyone agree?
"The ferris wheel makes lovers feel like love is surely something real
and the fireworks in the sky they match the fireworks in her eyes
as he kisses hard, she grabs his arm, shes reachin for the safety bar
its the closest thing to life they've felt so far"
Perfect. |

haha. I think you're off wortel. It's about the end of your childhood. The first stanza's about the burying of a memory capsule (or whatever you want to call it). Then
"at sunrise the monkeys will fly
and leave me with pennies in my eyes"
means that his dreams and disallusionment as a child have left, and left him only seeing money, like so many adults. |

haha I dont know why, but that first stanza always gets a chuckle out of me.

How true is that? I love the beat and energy to this song. And to think when I first went to listen to them, I was under the impression that they were spanish..haha. |

i dont know why, but the vocals to this song reminds me of U2 crossed with a little bob marley. I usually dont like experimental music, but I do like this. I think you have it feeldafury. I think its also about just going out and living your life, having fun, and doing what you want or are meant to do. I cant wait to see him at lollapalooza. |

Yeah I agree that some line's are definitely about Elliott. "I had a friend who changed his name, but couldn't change himself"
Very simple proof that he's referring to elliott. Elliott's real name was Steve, but changed it because he thought Steve sounded too much like a jock. Oh, and "to calm his handsome hell" isn't referring to Elliott's looks, it's referring to the fact that Elliott took his personal hells (his pain) and turned them into art. Even the music in the background is very Elliott-esque at some distinct points. And the last part of the song, Conor's refering to himself "The story that's incomplete, The picture's left unfinished, so I am writing my own ending". |

| Death Cab for Cutie – What Sarah Said Lyrics
| 19 years ago

I don't see this song as one about someone who's about to die at all. I think by saying "Love is watching someone die" he's saying that in life we're slowly dying and true love is sticking around to watch it happen. Sort of a more morbid way of saying grow old with you. Also, when he says
"and i rationed my breaths as i said to myself
that i'd already taken too much today" He's saying that it's like he doesnt want life to pass him by. Hes worried that because he's so alive one day, it means that his life will be shorter, and he wants to share memories with the person for as long as humanly possible. Just my opinion. |

This song is amazing, about a relationship and romance that reatains it's innocence even when the rest of the world have gone to hell, about how most people will only tell you how much money you're worth, and persuade you that you aren't or cannot be everything you can, and a guy and girl essentially save each other from this fucked up world. |

| David Ford – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out (The Smiths cover) Lyrics

so beautiful, I think the meanings pretty clear, a misplaced guy falls in love with a girl and she means everything to him, things are heavenly to him when he's with her. I think that when he says that there is a light that never goes out, he's saying that in life or death, he'll always love her. |

this song is so fucking great. I love how the song builds on a crescendo until he's finally playing sour notes at the end, like he can't stand it anymore, Politicians are so fake. Most of them don't care at all like he says in this song. All they care about is your vote. especially George bush, what a wank. |

| Joseph Arthur – Honey And The Moon Lyrics

I know I could be completely wrong, but I read Romeo and Juliet right before I heard this song and when I looked at the lyrics, the line "the sun is trying to kill the moon" really jumped out to me because it was taken from Romeo and Juliet, "It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, " Act 2 scene 1. I think he's comparing Romeo and Juliet to his own life, and he's talking about a girl and how he couldn't be her "Romeo" and when he sings, "I wish I could follow you, to the shores of freedom, where no one lives", he is saying that Romeo and Juliet died with their love and he doesn't feel that way or she doesn't take their relationship seriously. Idk, I could be completely off, but thats the way I view the song |
