i think it's written in the viewpoint of the person who is getting left behind in a relationship like they see their friend is changing and growing up and they can't relate anymore. and the idea of bowling is referenced to an old pastime they shared. |

ok, well i'm the billionth person to post but i think everyone is on the same basic idea. i do think that regina is using a classic tragic love story to compare with a love of her own and i agree with the whole idea of how she is talking about a love that samson had before delilah, another woman who cut his hair (broke down his walls) but this woman did it because he wanted her to and because he loved her. ---and now my own thoughts on this--- in the lines "the history books forgot about us, etc" i think it's a comment on how samson is famous for being the tragic hero despite having this other great love, because history and people in general choose to concentrate on the bad things rather than the beautiful so since delilah is samson's "tragic downfall", this other girl is his "sweetest" but is forgotten (and he could also be her sweetest downfall because she is now unimportant to history because she just had a simple love for him, instead of tragically decieving him) and i think regina uses that idea to reflect a love of her own and how even though her own love was so powerful and important to her, will not matter to anyone else in the world and in this way, all relationships, no matter how loving and beautiful are tragic becase they will soon be forgotten after the lovers are gone. |
