I love this song. its almost bittersweet. it makes me want to cry, but sometimes makes me smile, its beautiful. as for the meaning, my interpretation is...he's been dumped. and its her decision and he's really gutted and wishes he could change her mind. the first verse is about how he doesnt want to face the world as he cant face life with out that person. then i think he is talking about how he never thought that the relatiosnuo would end "A little time ago I didn't want to see us falling out but everything has gone" i think the "I wish I could, Sometimes I wish I would" is maybe talking about wishing he could get over that person, or wishing he was strong enough to vouice his opinion and make the other person fight for the relationship...but he cant and its their decsion that runs and not his. i think he means that they dont listen to him. thats my guess anyway!! |

| Lostprophets – Can't Catch Tomorrow (Good Shoes Won't Save You This Time) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

To me, this song is about new bands that he sees trying to copy lostprophets - he’s basically saying how everything their doing has been done before - namely by him. I guess not even new bands, but people who copy the “scene” kid style and then slag off lostprophets – all of the UK has his current haircut but its still pretty “uncool” to admit to liking their stuff. I love the chorus - so poppy and catchy – he’s talking about how he sees all these young kids copying his style and it makes him feel so old, but he keeps going and keeps doing his thing and doesn’t let fame go to his head etc, and even though he knows that all these new “scene” bands will steal his image, they are never gonna be the 3 albums type of band – to me that is what catching tomorrow means – trying to stay ahead of the trends and keep your popularity going. I love the second verse – “All this attitude with no history All this anger when you're attacking me Got a lot to learn and you need to know that your time is up kid, let it go” And I also love “Yeah the hair cuts hot but this has gotta stop Good shoes won't save you this time” - basically you can copy his style but that doesn’t make you good enough to last and he’ll be watching for them to fall down. Just my opinion really, and it’s up to anyone to have their own take on the song. For ages I thought it was about a relationship, but this is my current thought! |

i agree with whoever said its about a relationship - it clearly isnt about someone dying as he says "maybe someday when you can hear this song" i think hes pretty cut up about loosing his girlfriend and i get the feeling that he has tried his best to make amends and it hasnt worked. lovely song and lovely lyrics from Mr watkins, he is usually so bland and writes about the same things all the time, nice to get some emotion and a real meaning behind a song. |

can totally feel this song! its all about the bar culture and as the lostprophets (the majority of them...) dont drink - i feel totally sorry for them! he's basically saying that unless you are a streotype chav or a "sheep" that you dont fit in the this culture. "you don't look right" its an awful lot like i predict a riot by the kaiser chiefs - this awful image of booze britain...... how alcohol can cause fights and how drunk people have no thought or common sense in their actions. "get drunk no sight watch it ignite live it up tonight" I love the "dancing in the DMZ" this is how i spend my weekends - drunk dancing like i dont care whilst people around me throw bottles at each other and so on.....LOL i do love this song and i think ian has a valid point, but that wont stop me drinking and living like this every weekend........ |

oh and just to add.....my fav part is the end "Just don't let me down Just don't let me down Hold on to your kite " brings tears to my eyes! i think he is almost pleading her to stay with him and begging her to hold on to what they have and to treat him right. he knows that he should have ended it, or that he shouldnt take her back, but i think it just sums up that you cant help letting someone you love walk all over you. love the video too, you can totally feel his pain when he walks in on them at the end. |

for me....this song ihas certain words and phrases that remind me of a break up. i think that the relationship may have ended becuase of something she has done and he feels that she is so niave to think she can escape all the blame of it. and because he still loves her he starts out saying it wasnt her fault, and ends up completly blaming her. she may have cheated - whatver went wrong- and he cant help butlove her although he hates her at the same time. i love this song and think its so bittersweet. im seeing at the kooks at reading festival in a couple of weeks time and i think they are gonna be amazing. |

lyrically, one of Ians best - a lot of lostprophets lyrics are rather baand (sorry!) i think he has drawn on the edning of a relationship - something bad happened in it, maybe he's realised that she isnt who he thought she was but he cant help the way he feels, and it still hurts. maybe i am wrong.....just a personal thing i guess. |

| I think, like a lot of lostprophets songs, this is all about apathy and getting yourself moving and not letting people get to you. I think he is talking about critism or bad feeling towards himself or the band, maybe from critics or from a relationship, and its about how he won’t let those people drag him down to their level and how he will always strive for the best for himself – kinda telling people to get lost…..not sure if I’m right but I think its quite a postive song but with a lot of anger/fustration behind it. | |

For me personally this song has a totally different meaning than I’m pretty sure what it was intended for! But....the chorus part “such holidays in the sun etc” is for me, the idea that nothing comes for free, and that when my relationship ended, the relationship was great and now you have to suffer because its ended and such a lovely time doesn’t come without a sacrifice. Not sure if this is relevant to anyone else, but thought I’d post anyway! |
