Okay... obviously this dude cheats on his girlfriend and she breaks up with him and afterwards he wants her back. The second bit (One eye open... that whole verse) I'm not to sure on. I can't tell if she's sleeping with/seeing someone and she realizes it's not him she wants to be with or if she went back to her ex just for the sex becuase then she can still have a little part of him, even though her heart wont allow to date him becuase she cant trust him... or I could be completely off lol |

So some people have come close but personally I think the song is between an ex husband and wife or perhaprs two people that dated and had a child together. He's paying her child support [Here is the money that i owe you...] The next verse I think is about how the man grew up poor as well and that's kind of how his ex lover and child have come to. The woman cries because even though for some reason she isnt/cant be with the guy she misss him like crazy which is why she cries and goes into their childs room because thats a piece of him she'll always have. The next verse is explaining about how hes moved places again and how he's admitting that since they aren't together he doesnt feel alive. Then he goes on talking about all the other guys she's dated who think that she's happy with them but shes not becuase the man knows the real her and knows what will make her smile and laugh and is the only one who really knows how to love her. The chorus is pretty obvious, he knows that he can't at the moment but someday he'll buy her a new life where she can be everything she deserves to be. 'I know we can never look back, yeah Will you please let me stay the night (No one will ever know) Will you please let me stay the night (No one will ever know) No one will ever know! (No one will ever know)' I think that part is about him asking her to stay with him just for a night. If she does they can't look back on what their situation has been and must looktowards their future aka their new life that he will some day provide. The 'No one will ever know' part could be in reference to everyone [family, friends] telling her that she shouldnt go back to him becuase it wont work or maybe in reference to some boyfriend she has. Anyway, that may not have made any sense but it's how I think of the song |

And even though this girl is small, it really broke her, loosing her parents. This is a song that every single person has a story to. I remember when this song cam eout I loved it. It was catchy and I knew the lyrics: That's all that I need for it to be considered a good song. After all, I was only in the 3rd grade when it came out. But then, 3 years later, the actual words of the song hit me when I was at my 6th grade graduation. I had been at the same school for the past 6 years, that school was my life. That's where my rebellion had started, that's where my best friends were, that school held my life and I was leaving it all behind. Most of my friends were going to the same middle school as me so I wasn't really too chocked up about that, but still, there were the people I knew I'd never see again, and even though we were never super close, it'd still be weird not seeing those faces on a daily basis. So I got to middle school and it went by way too fast. I guess I thought it'd last forever considering it took so damn long to graduate elementary. But, as quickly as we went into the school gates for the first time, we were leaving them. At my 8th grade Grad Dance, they played this song during our class slide show. All the pictures of the 8th graders, permentaly saving memories that we all held so dear. Then, they played the song at our graduation two days later: This time, i couldn't hold back my tears. I wasn't going to the same school as everyone else anymore, and there was certainly a wider range of schools to choose from then. I was going to this small high school all alone. I was leaving the few friends that had stuck by me from Elemntary and leaving the ones I had formed over the two short years at my middle school. It sucked, becuase once again, I felt liek a kid that was moving otu of town. My life was just being up rooted. I kept in contact with exactly three friends. One that I have known since the first grade, and two that I met in 7th grade. I don't to talk to one as much but the other two are my best friends and I honestly don't know where I'd be with out them. But, all of us moved on to our different high schools gathering new friends. I have the best group of friends now, but like everythign else, I find it's going to be taken away from me once more. My crappy public school is going provate next year and there is no way im paying 4 grand a year for the shit edication I get there. So, I'm once again leaving my neew best friends. I have to go some where else and start over, but this time I already know it's just going to be taken away from me in two more years. I started listening to this song today once again because this is going to be the last year with my new best friends. Hopefully I'll be able to hold on to a few more. The song is just a wake up call I guess. Hold on to the shit that's important in your life because it's going to be gone soon. It is super cliche but damn it, it'll still make me cry like a baby and call my friend to talk, a call I know will only end in trying to cheer me up by telling me an antelope joke. |

I don't think it's about an abusive parent but an abusive spouse. And i'm not just sayign that because everyone automaticlly thinks an abuse song must be about a couple. But the lyrics just don't seem to fit with an abusive parent. also the lyrics are wrong, there is like i a missing verse I believe.
