| Brand New – The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i did about 11 minutes more of thinking and i've come to this conclusion. okay, something that really confused me was that the song seems to be about a divorce (thats what a lot of people seem to think), but then video is about a young couple in a car wreck. and its unlike brand new to just a make a video that has nothing to do with the meaning of the actual song. but now i'm thinking that the video is trying to say that the whole cheating/divorce ordeal is like some crazy car wreck where you loose a person you love. which makes sense |

| Brand New – Good to Know That If I Ever Need Attention All I Have to Do Is Die Lyrics | 19 years ago |
my first impression of this song was the whole record company thing. "Keep us comatose but audible" its like saying they want brand new to make a name for themselves, but they still want them to be under their control i love the title though. just that alone. cause at first i thought it was a suicide thing, like a no one notices me, but they will if i kill myself kinda thing. but then this girl got in a car accident at my school (it was the exact scenario as in the quiet things video, wierdly) and all of a sudden everyone knew who she was. and everyone only saw the good in her |

justcallmenewman, go buy Deja Entendu. right now. or else. seriously this song is amazing. its got this incredible sadness to it. most brand new songs, as poetic as they are, have a clear meaning to me. this one stumps me. truely. but i love it |

| Brand New – Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| no one seems to agree on the meaning of this song. well at least from what i've read (and i certainly havent read all 12 pages) but this is what i see. theres a guy and all his friends want him to score at this party and they say its great so he meets this girl, hooks up with her, gets her in bed, and it doesnt make him feel good about himself. it just makes him feel guilty | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – A Better Place, A Better Time Lyrics | 19 years ago |
1. reel big fish isn't emo, its the opposite of emo really. emo is a bunch of people complaining about how shitty life is. reel big fish is a bunch of people saying how shitty life is and how they could fucking care less 2. aquabats is serious. deep down. way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way deep down. maybe. probably not. 3. this band has inspired my friends and i to invent a new genre of music, SKEMO now onto the actual song: i find this song incredibly uplifting. the lines "and when you wake up everything is going to be fine i guarantee that you wake up in a better place and in a better time so you're tired of living and you feel like you might give in well don't it's not your time" because im one of those people who gets like crazy stressed at night and then i get all down on myself. but when i wake up everythings okay again |

A7XWakingTheFallen, the dylan line has always been one of my favorites. but i've always seen that line as this guy sitting around listening to bob dylan trying to decide if he should kill himself or not. i love this song so sososoososooso fucking much. its an art work. it should be hung in the lourve next to mona lisa |

| Streetlight Manifesto – A Moment of Silence Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think this song is just about being a reject and how hard it is. and how the conformists will try and crush you down no matter what. and its like even though he's big and famous now he still feels like a reject and still "sees eye to eye" with them the key line is "the tired anthem of a loser and a hypocrite" i think. thats what this song is. its this guy who thinks hes a loser and a hypocrite rambling about whats its like |

| Eve 6 – Hey Montana Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think blindchameleon is the most correct. though i originally thought it was about prosititution too, now that i think about it their really isnt anything that suggests it directly. the thing that chameleon missed most was that its just as much about substance abuse as it is about being stuck trying to be discovered in hollywood, with the lines like "Drinks to quell the smell", "No one knows the secrets that you hide", and "scores along the way" |
| Eve 6 – Bring the Night On Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think its about this girl whos kinda flakey full of shit but he cant help being crazy about her | |
| Eve 6 – On The Roof Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think its about this guy named leroy who cheated on his girlfriend and got got. so he moved back in with his dad until she shows up pissed the hell off. he snaps, runs up to the roof of is dads apartment, and plans on killing himself dramatically |
| Eve 6 – Arch Drive Goodbye Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is a wonderful song. i think its about a guy and he loves this girl, but he's come to terms with the fact that he's not the best boyfriend for her ("wanna keep you from keepin you down") so now he's breaking up with her because he knows its whats best and he has completely accepted that |
| Eve 6 – At Least We're Dreaming Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think this is about living a life that just seems completely burned out. one of my favorite lines in any song is "waiting for someone to come along and find me" which is simple but so prefectly sumarizes that feeling of living everyday just to get through the chorus is him trying to convince himself that everythings okay and he has nothing to complain about, but at the same time he feels like something missing i think "at least we're dreaming" means at least i can dream of something better |

| Eve 6 – Enemy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i remember one night when i was up listening to horrorscope (complete coincident) and i got a text from my friend that said, "is enemy about going to get an STD test?" what i think its about is this guy whos completely paranoid that he's gotten an STD. he wants his girlfriend to assure him shes not about to give him anything ("So just tell me nothing's wrong. Then get undressed and spend the night") so finally he cant handle not knowing, so he decides to go check it out and realizes he's safe ("And now I know that I'll be fine, I am fine") |
| Eve 6 – Friend Of Mine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is how i see it. so theres this guy and a girl who have been really good friends since they were little kids. they got older, she was raped. a year has passed and she wants to kill herself. he feels like he couldnt handle being without her (as a friend only) because she is such support for him and i think blake is a mutual friend who said "make sure you wake and help save your generation" which is really good advice. i commend him |
| Eve 6 – Good Lives Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is one of my favorite songs of all time. so underrated. i agreed with RestingPlace. but at the same time its nice cause at the same time i'm glad they're not all over MTV. but then again im sad they kinda died always, what this song says to me is an ironic statement about good lives. i think its about a bunch of people who at first glance would be said to have "good lives" but in reality they are miserable. |
| Brand New – The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
im not quite possitive who exactly this song is about (except i know for a fact its about a basketball player. jesse informed us at his show) all i know is its just about messing up and feeling really fucking bad about. and even if your forgiven you still know you screwed up big time. its one of the most basic and easy to interpret of the songs on deja, but its still beautifully poetic |
| Brand New – Soco Amaretto Lime Lyrics | 19 years ago |
to me its about the summer after highschool and his relationship and friendships during it. and how it just felt like everything was perfect and now its over. and its from the point of view of jesse during that one summer. and then the little background vocals at the end are talking to his future self. basically its this guy. and all he wants in the world is for it to be that summer again and hes pretending like it is, but in his heart he knows its not. |

| Brand New – Moshi Moshi Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i love the accoustic version of this song simply because i think it sounds better as a slower song this is how i see the song: its about a guy whos madly in love with a girl. they went on a date maybe two with this girl whos more popular than him. she didnt really want much to do with him, but he' still madly in love, wont stop calling her, etc. i also think more generally its just about the insanity of have a crush and is most easily summarized by the line being discussed above: "dream in japanese, dream in japanese some language i dont even know how to speak" thats saying that trying to get your crush to like you is like trying to understand a language you dont know the "im like, 'bitch, i don't even know how to speak!' just emphasizes the point, saying its like trying to understand japanese when youre not possitive you can even speak english |
| Brand New – Play Crack the Sky Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song is quite simply about a shipwreck off of long island. jesse said so (i saw them live two night ago. it was amazing) but its also about a relationship. i always thought it was talking about a breakup and just alluding it to a shipwreck. but now i think its the opposite. its about a shipwreck. but its talking about how love can be like a shipwreck, not one specific break up |
| Brand New – Flying at Tree Level (Version 1.0) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i definately agree with exs and ohs, its about being in a band. it kinda ties into the line from i will play my game beneath the spin light "watch me as i cut myself wide open on this stage as i am paid to spill my guts" except its also about trying to succeed. most specifically this song is about how psychologically insane writing one song can be. now prepare for the extensive rambling of a crazed brand new fan "Hoping fast that the arrow hits the mark so you know who we are " simply defined as the fact that he's hoping his song's good, and therefore people will like it and know his band "This is a matter of life and death, but I deal with things like this everyday" this is talking about how he feels like if he screws up once its the end, or "death", of his band "We've been hurting a long time trying hard for this" this talks about how hard he worked to get his band where it is "we all have sizeable scars" this is my all time favorite line. it could easily be discussing how they've all paid their dues in the band. but it think it's more about how all of us have our hard times that we've gotten through, and those are the things that can truely inspire an artist "Yes we are a bullet in the heart and the message is sent Always dragging your feet on the sand and the hot cement" this one's a little hard to interpret, but the stuff about bullets through hearts and dragging your feet and all that dramatic stuff is just trying to exaggerate how much their music has to affect us for us to like it "I see my baby She's starry eyed I feel my bones break all the time I see my baby She's starry eyed She follows Don't call me a god " i agree that these lines are about fans and how they think so highly of jesse and think hes perfect and how it makes him feel like he has these impossible expectations to live up to okay. im done also i have a copy of this song. ill send it to you, shanamaj. if you dont already have a copy |
