Yeah, agreed. I think it's about like when he has to leave on tour and he's with someone. Like it sucks, and only really serious relationships can truly last things like tours. So that's what I think it's about. I love this song so much, cause I have my own little siuation in which this song is perfect to describe it. |

I don't think it necessarily has to be about unrequited love. "one love" yes "one life" "one loss" "one fight" .. to me it's about more issues than just relationships; someone lost, and argument even is all it takes... i dunno but these lyrics mean a lot to me. |

I love this song SO much, because I can totally and scarily relate to it 100%!! I had the same situation, which makes the song mean that much more to me! it was strange though because I actually wrote a song about MY experience and then a week later i bought Dead Letters and was like "woah" that's scary how it's about the exact same thing... anyways, yes it's about some random girlfriend he kept treating like shit and didn't know why. |

I love how random this song is, yet not at the same time. If you take the obvious meaning, he 'thinks' he's ugly and wants to find a princess to kiss him and turn him into a prince and they will live happily ever after! Something like that! :P |

mostly agreeing with Halloween. Leiah, i'm pretty sure the interview you're talking about was for In My Life... cause that's what he's said about that song.
First Day Of My Life is my all time favourite song! It's so... strengthening, i think it is about starting again and coming through hard times for the better in the long run. I agree with Lauril it's one of their most posiitive songs.

I agree mostly with Irishgirl; it's about all the temptations of life n stuff, and like trying to balance between being yourself and who you want to be, and being who you should be, like with responsibility n stuff, but not being able to balance it and just "falling" .. Well that's what i get from it anyway. |
