Bloodytea, this album is not a concept album, mikael never said it was. You are trying to make connections which aren't there. People did that as well with the ghost reveries album which wasnt a concept either, but at least with that album it was original intented to be a concept but was later dropped because it didnt work out and for the people who think this song is about faith. I doubt it since mikael is an atheist. Sweden is one of the most atheistic countries in the world. |

Actually the song the divine wings of tragedy is really about paradise lost. the song paradise lost looks to me to take place after the fall of lucifer. This is song is not difficult to grasp. It's simply about lucifer seducing eve into eating the forbidden fruit. |

.... could be... not sure. looks to me more like the "promise to god" "I took her by the hand to say All faith forever has been washed away" these lines again show that the I-person is an atheist and he actually gives melinda not even a choice in whter or not melinda abandoning her faith its so clear throughout the entire album that the I-person is an atheists and thats the reason he was bannished. If you take that in consideration the whole story makes complete sense. especially the ironic ending of white cluster |

I agree with Opethfanatic on the song meaning (second paragraph), but I don't think the outcast was an atheist so as to speak, I always thought he was simply one with varying beliefs to those involved in the Council of the Cross. Eg. "Outcast with Dogmas forged below" -The Moor ----------------------------------------------------------- read the entire story carefully, and you'll see the I-person is someone who completely hates religion. he is definately an atheist. thats how you get the irony at the end of the story. him discovering that he was wrong and there actually is an afterlife (eventhough mikael is an atheist himself btw) |

i really dont like this kind of lyrics. its nice written very nice but it has absolute no meaning what so ever. these kind of lyrics are completely interchangeble. you could take out a piece of another song and place it in here and the lyric would still be ok. you just write some poetic sentences about battle, swords, dragons and fire and you got a dragonforce lyric. so dont try to figure out a meaning behind it, there isnt any technically they are aboslute monsters but everybody allready knows that, not many musicians like them out there :) |

that's possible , but i have another theorie i think the you figure, is god. its about the relation between the I figure and god. and she is wondering about why she holds on to the cross (holding on to her religion) because of all the negativity she feels and encounters in her life. she is like questioning the reason to to keep holding on to god. ("The cross I bear But you don't seem to care) but i also have a second theory, you could also interpretate this song as extremely anti-religious. like in challeging everyone's faith or at least christianity. "Cold is your silence, denying what is real" "I'm sorry if you can't stand the naked truth All you see is how you want it to be So you keep on living your lie" you could see these sentences as being directed towards the reader/listener. its like she saying "there is no god, you are just lieing to yourself, believing in what is not real, you just can't face reality because it realy scares you to think there would be no god." but i don't think it would be likely that sharon would have that kind of opinion. so i will go with my first theory but she is like talking down to god, like in a way of a relationship between two people. she's talking to him like an equal, not a higher being |

i really don't believe mikael is talking about a diseased village, i think he is simply talking in metafors but he doesnt created an image of a diseased village if you ask me. i really dont see that. he is just talking in a poetic way but doesnt make it into a sort of short story but you were right about the actual meaning ofcourse being how bad the state of society is. like i posted before |
