BoySetsFire – Requiem Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song....I thought more people would have commented it though This song to me is about choosing between a life of weakness and a life of freedom |
Death Cab for Cutie – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am in love with this song. I know its silly to be listening to christmas songs in September, but this song has a deep meaning for me. One of my best friends is moving away to Ecuador permanently this christmas, and I'm gonna miss her like mad....it may be 2 or more years before I see her again, and thats why I wanna try and make this special, so this is my anthem for the coming christmas =] |
The Organ – Memorize The City Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love love love this song....first heard it last year and I've been hooked on them since. For me, this is about just trapsing through unfamiliar places trying to make sense of it all, thinking about all the things that are bothering you. I know that's not the theme of the song, but I listened to this whilst wandering the streets so for me that's the message |
Death Cab for Cutie – Photobooth Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is a personal one for me. It reminds me of driving in a stuffy coach through Menorca, it reminds me of campfires, of friends and just enjoying being young and amongst the people i love. such a beautiful song, perfect soundtrack to this time of year |
Rise Against – Ready To Fall Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I agree with tom_down7, the line 'wings won't take my height's don't phase me' makes sense, especially when the next line it 'so take a step but don't look down' anyone else agree? |
Rise Against – Blood To Bleed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this is definetely about a break up, but to me it's also about the girl wanting the guy back, and he's saying the whenever he looks at her all he sees is the pain she put him through (i dont love you anymore is all i remember you telling me, never have i felt so cold' The line 'Could you tell me again what you did this for?' also fits that meaning, as he's asking why she did what she did to him, and questioning why he should take her back when she caused so much destruction I love this song. It reminds of a situation with my ex, rise against really have a way of hitting the nail on the head with their songs |
Rise Against – But Tonight We Dance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is my favourite rise against song at the moment....for me it's about the hell he's been through, about the darkness they've endured and basically saying screw it..tonight it's you and me. We'll dance and forget everything around us, and hes praying that it never ends (is this a night that spans forever or a dawn that never comes' i cant believe more people havent commented on this song, it's one of my favourite rise against ones of all time |
Finch – What It Is To Burn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's that concept of two drowning people trying to save each other and save themselves at the same time. They seek solace in the fact that each understands the others pain fully. That kind of relationship is priceless, but when the girl kills herself, it leaves him totally dumbfound. I relate to this song a lot...after 3 years of depression, I made a lot of these kind of friendships |
Rise Against – Everchanging Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I agree with pocketmoonlight...this song is about how fast life changes, and whether we choose to stay stuck in something that hurts us, or take the plunge and evolve as life does, regardless of our consent. a totally beautiful song.... |
InMe – White Butterfly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Sporadical means occasionally, or not very often...that kinda makes me think it's about him breaking up with a girl because of something he's done that was wrong, then realising how bad things used to be before her and knowing he cant go back to that. he then says sorry, and that he wasn't 'thinking of you' like he should have been when he did |
Feeder – Just A Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is just about being a total idiot, doing crazy stuff then having the comedown and realising that you need to stop it. I love this song...reminds me of just hanging out with some very amazing people and having a great time. One of the best feeder tunes ever |
Metric – Torture Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
To me, this song is about being with someone who uses you for nothing more than your body: 'Get the rope Tie me to the bed post Cause I can't find within myself' That to me means the person isn't happy with themselves, so they seek validation in all the wrong places and from all the wrong people. I also think it's about finding that sense of self confidence and happiness for a second, then as soon as you walk away from that room you realise that it was all fake: 'Torture me with all I wanted' That line to me is about being teased with the feeling of self pride and peace just to have it taken away. I love this song, and this is just my interpretation and what it means to me personally. |
Placebo – Second Sight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hmmm...I agree with every response so far, which is rare. But I have my own adaptation, which isnt entirely different, but I thought I'd post it anyway. I think it is about Brian and a girl getting together for a one night stand and doing crazy shit, and the next morning he wakes up beside her and is totally fine with it. However, I think the song hints that this girl wants more off him than he can offer, so the insults he throws at her (you never were an actress) are to make it easier for her to hate him, and in turn break away the emotions she feels for him I don't know, but this is one of the best songs off SWG, it serves as a perfect dancing song as well :] |
Placebo – Blind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree with Gremlin666 The line 'If I could tear you from the ceiling' to me suggests drug abuse or a dependancy on substances. Molko's character seems to be wanting to stop his partner from the dependancy, and protecting them from its effects. The line 'you dont believe me, but you do this everytime' could suggest the effect a relapse in their recovery has on both him and the relationship with this person. He seems to be almost begging them to come down and promise to stay down, if only for his sake |
Placebo – Without You I'm Nothing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
One line that really gets me is: 'you never see the lonely me at all' Maybe this is about one person in a relationship trying to keep away from the other one's depression and loneliness? Like, they don't really care to see them when they're unhappy, and don't want to be active in the relationship at all I don't know, all I know is I love this song, and it usually makes me cry. |
Evanescence – Hello Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song to me always represented mental turmoil as a result of bullying. It sounds strange, but I listened to this a lot when i was being bullied and felt really connected to the lines 'playground school bell rings again/rainclouds come to play again' i dont know, but this song makes me cry everytime |
Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For me, this song is just about loving someone so much that you would gladly follow them into the darkness of the afterlife just to be with them This song makes me cry every time I hear it |
Alkaline Trio – Burn Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For me, the line that sums it up is 'Intending to burn, pretending to fight it'. I always thought that was talking about someone who had serious issues and was pretending to get them all sorted whilst secretly drowning in their pain |
InMe – Safe In A Room Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song always reminds me of my best friend and soulmate...we're both self harmers, and the line 'don't ever do that again, I cannot watch you die' just makes me remember that I love her too much to stand by and let it happen to her. It's an amazing song, and i think it means different things to different people |
Placebo – Follow the Cops Back Home Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's written about teenagers in Iceland after Molko took a trip there. The crime rates are so low there that there are hardly any police, so it's kinda questioning what teenagers there do in terms of crime, which is 'follow the cops back home and rob their houses' |
