Okay, I think that most people are right. The jack and Sally do refer to Nightmare Before Christmas. I think that you can split the song into two parts. Both parts are about someone who's gone and possibly may not come back. But I think the first part however, is about someone who lost some one he really loved. And the second part is about someone who split up with his girlfriend/boyfriend and misses him terribly. The clues: Both parts are sung by different people, or at least 2 different styles. The first verse sounds like it can't be reversed (i.e. death) and the second verse is asking the girl/boy to come back. |

Antifia, lol. That's what I thought :D I just listened to the Postal Service song and I prefer the Shins's version. It has a 'what-the-hell-I-don't-care'-atmosphere to it and that really fits the song. I like the one from the Postal Service too and I know it's their song and stuff, but it's not as carefree as the other one. |

And indeed in most of the song, the beat is normal. But in the ending, with the last time they sing the chorus, the beat is weird. It's not wrong, doesn't sound ugly. It's just weird. So get over yourself. Btw, I think Basket Case and Hitching a Ride are the best Green Day songs |
