We Will Become Silhouettes (Postal Service cover) Lyrics
I've got a cupboard with cans of food
Filtered water, and pictures of you
And I'm not coming out until this is all over
And I'm looking through the glass
Where the light bends at the cracks
And I'm screaming at the top of my lungs
Pretending the echoes belong to someone
Someone I used to know
And we become silhouettes
When our bodies finally go
I want to walk through the empty streets
With something constant under my feet
But all the news reports recommended I stay indoors
Because the air outside will make
Our cells divide at an alarming rate
Until our shells simply cannot hold all our insides in
And that's when we'll explode
And it won't be a pretty sight
And we'll become silhouettes
When our bodies finally go
Filtered water, and pictures of you
And I'm not coming out until this is all over
Where the light bends at the cracks
And I'm screaming at the top of my lungs
Pretending the echoes belong to someone
Someone I used to know
When our bodies finally go
With something constant under my feet
But all the news reports recommended I stay indoors
Our cells divide at an alarming rate
Until our shells simply cannot hold all our insides in
And that's when we'll explode
And it won't be a pretty sight
When our bodies finally go

This is definitely a cover, Ben Gibbard wrote the original version of the song, not James Mercer. This version is what I consider raw, it strips away all the musical technicalities and the shins just PLAY the song, I love both versions though.
I'm glad nobody thought it was a song about "getting over a relationship". It's about NUCLEARRRRRR explosion!
Personally I prefer this song than the original. I mean, I love The Postal Service, but I just love this version of the song so much more. ^^;
also by the postal service? oops
not oops, more like a cover, and a decent one at that.
this is a pretty good cover. i<3it
This cover is excellent. It gives a whole new feel to an already wonderful song.
Love the cover, but I don't think this is the place to decipher the meaning of a covered song.
wait, is this a cover of that or that a cover of this? either way, they are both amazing songs
There are quite a few covers of Postal Services work. Such as the cover of Such Great Heights by Iron & Wine which gave the song a whole new meaning. Some covers are not bad. But the covers of Postal Service, like the originals, are just fantastic.
