he fell in love with a girl, maybe not even love but he's saying he has feelings for her.but obviously shes a drunk. all her friends are the same way they love to drink too, she knows theyre not good for her (my best friends will be the death of me) but they won't ever remember because they were drunk with her... no one realizes how sad and lonely this girl is, and that she can't really find anything better to do with her life than drink, he either met her at a party that night or he's known her for a while and just knows about her bad habit.. but she cries because her life is messed up and she knows it-- she wants him to take her far away before someone uses her words against her and she becomes more of a joke also when she drinks she sees someone she knows in him, this might also make her cry-- probably because it was someone she knew in her "drinking crowd" so he has a bad vibe the past is only the future with the lights on... thats my favorite line. its just saying you go through the future blindly and in the dark, but you can look upon the past as a sort of guide through your dark future. at some point you went through your past in the dark as well, but now that it is over the lights are on and you get to use it for your blind walk through the future. its his words of wisdom/encouragement for the girl |

this girl doesn't know how much she means to the guy and he is basically just telling her to go because it hurts to have such strong feelings for someone not capable of returning them to him.. you put it all inside and run, and never look behind she might have the same feelings but ignores them and just runs away so she doesn't have to deal with it.. obviously it hurts because he is giving her all of his heart and she isn't taking it. |

"but the lack thereof would leave me empty inside" and "find nothing but faith in nothing" he literally made himself vunerable to be torn by a blender, so to speak by some "demented motives in your head"...i think its also significant that he says "Rendezvous, then I'm through with you" in the chorus, meaning it is repeated over and over again.. possibly saying, he says he really does want to be through with the person, but keeps seeing them over and over again, so it ever seems to quite happen that way. | |

i agree with behle but i'll elaborate a little.. i think its more, he feels trapped inside but hes saying he gave in, he's not able to conquor the outside. he's just very anti-social: "You don't have to be alone to be lonenly You might as well give in." he's saying, oh well, i can't win.. he sounds almost content with his inabilities and with being held hostage inside his own house "If evil were a lesser breed then justice after all these years the righteous would have freed the world of sin." if there wasn't so much bad keeping him in, then he would be able to overcome it and be free, but he cant cuz he has nothing helping him. it sounds like he's just weak and scared, thats what i get. or as behle said, shy.. but i think its more than just that |
