| Johnny Flynn – Barnacled Warship Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It's about a young man going to war. Initially he is restless and eager for glory, but he quickly realises the folly of war, becoming a cynical 'barnacled warship'. I think the chorus is about him feeling isolated from society when he returns from war, hence he has to eat on the 'doorsteps' of his previous countrymen. | |

It's actually: 'Just empty bottles and stubs of cheroots (a type of cigarette) and holes in the years of your cowboy boots' |

| The Cribs – We Were Aborted Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's about men, blokes, and how the singer is fed up of them. Kinda similar to 'men's needs' on the last album. "Your virility, makes me forget empathy" He hates guys acting all macho "cause you knew we were aborted" Reminds of a comment by Valerie Solanas (she REALLY hated men) about how, because female is the default state of the foetus, that men are 'walking abortions' "The mid-shelf masturbation Leaves a smear on half the nation" He hates the lads mags and how immature they are. "And they have everything They kept their ribs, I'm sure of it It's what they're all about But getting inside counts" They (women) have everything, including the ribs that are supposed to be missing according to Christian folklore. 'Getting inside counts', well I think we all know what that means... I'm literally positive that's what he's singing about. Unless anyone has any other takes on it? |

| Green Day – Peacemaker Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Got a kind of middle-eastern sound to it, a reference to Iraq no doubt. The soldier 'peacemaker' who has become a killer. | |

Great song to open the album this. Not sure what it's about though. It sounds like an apocolyptic circus! Could be the music scene? |

| Rise Against – Prayer Of The Refugee Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Actually it's not about American consumerism, that's what the video is about. The wikipedia article says the video has a different meaning to the song. I think it's pretty obviously about a refugee, and since the original title was 'diaspora', it's probably referring to a Jewish refugee coming from/to Israel. Are any of the band members Jewish?? |
