| I wish they would give out their lyrics... I love all of their stuff just wish I knew what they were singing about | |
| Nine Inch Nails – The Great Destroyer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song always reminds me of 1984 and how Winston knows that he has the potential to be the "great destroyer" of Oceania if only he could... and how he's always being watched by BB and how you can't turn off the sound on the telescreens (listen to the shit they pump into your head), but he knows that if he waits long enough then the time will be right and he will have his chance. it's a good song anyway it's my fav from the new album along with "another version of the truth" but no matter what the concept of the album, to me, this song will always scream out 1984. | |
| Dir En Grey – Ryoujoku no Ame (English) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The first lines comment on how the smallest things can make the innocent question themselves and thus lose their innocence. This loss of innocence results in the realisation that one day, everything around him will be gone, and as such, in the LONG term, nothing matters. However, he tries to hold onto his memories. Eventually, he can't hold on anymore and in a last attempt to create purpose for himself, "prays to the setting sun". The sun can't save him. Nothing can. However... He DID have a purpose when he was innocent, as he was given love when he was born, and he used to feel genorosity from others. Therefore, it's his own fault he has no purpose. I have to admit the line "it is the proof of sadness, caused by absolute justice" is beyond me. All people lose innocence as little things will constantly cause innocence to be lost. That's what I think. Thanks. |

| Sunn O))) – It Took The Night To Believe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This was my first taste of Sunn 0))). As soon as I heard it I loved it. I'm currently trying to get my friends into it but they don't like the whole drone thing so I'm giving up... To me, this will always conjure the image of a lone maiden standing atop some cliff edge, watching helplessly as evil spirits cleanse her village below her with fire. Now that I've seen the lyrics, I believe the evil spirits are conversing amongst themselves what to do with the maiden.... (after 5 mins of re-reading the lyrics over and over again)... Maybe for the evil spirits to actually exist, she has to believe in them, and so they are urging her on so they can exist and create more chaos in this realm? Ahh either way it's a very cool song by a band (band??) who are very deserving of the publicity they are recieving lately thanks to the success of the collab with Boris, and will forever remain my first experience with this monstrous entity of noise. Maximum volume yields maximum results. |

| David Bowie – The Hearts Filthy Lesson Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think the song is telling you that no matter how you feel or what you think, you can't control your heart when it comes to love and such. I believe that whoever Bowie is in the character of in this song likes Ramona alot, but thinks that nothing will come of it because of his past experiences with women, mainly someone called Miranda (the heart's filthy lesson, which is falling upon deaf ears). He is asking Paddy for help as he believs that by liking Ramona, he is losing his way. However, in the end he accepts that he loves Ramona, even though he will end up getting hurt. Thus, "What a fantastic death abyss". He hopes getting hurt by Ramona will finally teach his heart the filthy lesson. I thought of all this as soon as I heard/saw the lyrics, although the line "something in our skies" has completly lost me. |

| Nine Inch Nails – A Warm Place Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is my overall favourite song of all time. Yes I go through many phases and stages where I listen to other songs more, but from the first time I heard this song it became my favourite. As for meaning, well in context of the album I think The Numpty is right, as always on this album =)... However, as just a song I think it simply represents the beauty you can find within anything, if you just look hard enough. I think in this sense, it's the most powerful anti-suicide song ever, as I believe the "Crystal Japan" melody is more powerful than many of the songs I hear that are against suicide. I think it's a great song because it can be both relaxing when you want to it to be (major compliments to Bowie for that beautiful melody) and yet it has all of Nine Inch Nails trademark depth eg the "lyrics". Thank you. |

| Gojira – Ocean Planet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| god i will always remember this song as my first taste of Gojira. If these guys don't become big I shall be very surprised. From Mars To Sirius was the best album I bought this year so far and well it's all about (i think) a guy who sees the world end so he goes on a journey to find the flying whales who teach him to fly and tell him to go to Sirius C and find some ancient master race or summin who will tell him how to restore life on the planet. I kinda expected it to suck i mean eco warriors + metal? But ye it's cool I recomend anyone into metal to listen to em. | |
| Soil – Breaking Me Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song's about going back to simplicity. Yeah he's hurting and lifes bad for him but he's found this girl and shes breaking him down in a good way making him himself again and even tho he feels like hes gotta be what his bad life has made him, in reality he loves how this girl is lookin after him n breaking him down to a simpler life where he can be his true self... but the girl wants something in return he cant give her. he just cares for himself and hes letting her do it to him pretending he doesnt like it. that prob dint make any sense. im so tired. lol sorry |
|
| Soil – Can You Heal Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about someone hurting and wanting to be healed and he wants to ask someone else (presumably a girl) to heal him but she's also hurting and so he cant actually tell her but inside hes screaming it at her. i think its basicaly a song about thinking your in love with someone but not being able to tell them for some reason. In this sense whilst everything's still hurting for him, he thinks hes found love so "things aren't so bad" | |
| Soil – Unreal Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I broke my toe in the mosh pit to this song =D soil rock although i dont like their new stuff so much =( i think this song's about being in a confusing relationship where the girl keeps knocking him down and then picking him up again and he finally ahs enough of it and dumps her but find out that he needed all that being knocked down and picked up again for him to become a better man so he begs her to come back and tries to show her hes sorry n everything n basicly changes his life for her and he's acknowledging that he didn't listen to her or let her help him in her own way n stuff. i dnno maybe im just takin the song n bending it so it fits in with my life. Either way that's ma opinion |

| Nine Inch Nails – All the Love in the World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
IMO this song is trent talking to himself. I think he's sort of left his body and is looking down at himself at a nin show. The people are like insects and from this trents point of view he looks just like any other person cept he's on stage, alone. well not alone but you know. He's saying how no one really understands him cos he can't put his thoughts into words suitable enough to portray what he's thinking but he acknowledges he has a second chance after his addictions etc ("I've become a million miles away") He then questions why so many people "love" him or admire him when he looks just like one of them. He gets all this love and such but still he's all alone. or at least lonely. Anyway ye i think this song is basically him questioning his success and/or affect on his fans. just what i think though. lol and i think with_teeth is a different album to other nin titles. it's not trent sellin out or w.e it's just a different album. sometimes i like it sometimes i dont depends on my mood, same with tds and phm. |

| 36 Crazyfists – Midnight Swim Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| some beautiful imagery in this song i love it for some reason it makes me think of someone forgiving someone, no matter what the consequences of w/e u did wrong are. prob cos of the line "everything will be alrite even if the city ignites" and "well start it again so we can start it over" i think this is basicly a thank you note to someone for forgiving them... IMO | |
| Slipknot – Vermilion, Pt. 2 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
this is such a beautiful song it almost brings me to tears its very hard for me to listen to this song its a very special song to me for many reasons. i think vermillion was before he killed her and this is after he killed her. i always imagine the guy holding onto the dead body of the girl he loved singing this song. he feels guilty for doing it and all her blood is covering him like his torment and pain but now shes dead he can pretend shes still alive and he opens up to her, telling her all the reasons he killed her and trying to convince himself that it was worth it. hes torn between loving her and hating her but at the end of the song he remembers she isnt real and he couldnt make her real so its all ok and he forgives himself. i dnno really lol its deep... and im tired btw this is all my own opinion so dont hate me or argue with me cos the beauty of living is that we are allowed to have our own opinions and this is just what i think. slipknot rule. |

| Slipknot – Vermilion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
sorry if this has already been said but this is my 1st post n im too impatient to read thru all the comments lol.... too me this song is about a guy who loves a girl but she doesnt love him the same way and she cheats on him all the time. eventualy he has enough and kills her (the night she came home forever). he cant stand loving her and not having her hes obsessed and cnt stop watching her even tho it makes him sad (the solemn hypnotic...when i see her its worse) and even tho he loves her shes something in him that he despises... but he wont let it build up inside of him and he eventually breaks and kills her. "she isnt real, i cant make her real"- i love this line i think it means that to her hes just made up, an unrequited dream (lol!) and it doesnt matter what he does she will never be his like he wants. its this realisation that breaks him down and allows himself to kill her. |
