| Bob Marley and the Wailers – Real Situation Lyrics
| 18 years ago

this is off the "uprising" album. Bob Marley was very close to death at this point. Came out in 1980 , he went in 1981. This song, it seems, is a proclamation. "My whole career I put out songs about fighting against the oppression and now on the eve of my death i see 'It seems like total destruction The only solution And there ain't no use
No one can stop them now"....its almost a "live your life, dont spend your time fighting a war you cant win" |

besides that....in retrospect (reviewing old posts after not being on in a long time)....what on earth would make you think rage had a "passive revolution" stance.... half, if not more than half, their songs called for or described violent bloody revolution. |

yes . shit. virginia is part of the classical south. the states northern border runs along the mason-dixon. it was the home of the capitol of the confederacy, and home to almost every battle fought in the civil war. as much as people in georgia hate to admit it . virginia lays sole claim to much of the history of the south |

I dont think it has to do with laotian anything...Zach sings about wearing dark glasses...to insulate oneself from the world perhaps? jackie o lived in her own world precious and special, an image of "the life" , then boom all of a sudden the real world comes crashing down on her as chunks of bone and brain sprayed through the air. perhaps he is saying , insulate yourself all you want , the rich and powerful will not and cannot forever live a sheltered life? |

the warehouse he's making reference to is Woolen Mills on the outskirts of Charlottesville. its a big creepy abandoned mill from the civil war era. half is used as a warehouse by a storage company. the other half is this giant abandoned ivy covered brick building. its a creepy creepy place. i used to sneak in their as a child. lots of people did |

if you ride something out, you endure it until its over. he wants to watch someone fall (fail to thrive or advance we'd assume) "crash burn when will i learn"-whoever he wants to see fail either hasnt , or the narrator himself ended with the fate he wished on the other person |

| Stone Sour – Monolith Lyrics

forgive me if i dont get my point across well, its my first time posting. it seems to me , you are looking through the eyes of the narrator. he did something terrible in his past, probably violent noting the reference to bloody hands. he doesnt feel bad about what he did and that worries him because he knows he should. his bloody hands come clean; he hasnt inflicted this catastrophic (the title monolith gives a clue, monolith possibly refering to this rage or blood lust inside of him being so powerful he has no hope of controlling it) violence on anyone in a while. later on , "oh God, what beast did this?". whatever harm he caused is so terrible he cant imagine a man being capable of it. thats when his hands become bloody again. i think , in premise , its like becoming so enraged you black out, and when you come back to your senses , you know you have hurt someone but you have no memory and because of the severity of it , you cant imagine how you did it |
