| Syd Barrett – The Word Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the guy just posted lyrics from one of Syd's poems called "Rooftop In A Thunderstorm Row Missing The Point" don't know why he posted it, still a good poem though....still baffled why there's not song version for it but you can find the lyrics like its a song... | |

| Wolf Parade – You Are A Runner And I Am My Father's Son Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think its very simply about a the anniversary of his father walking out/ suicide (either or works) I got a number on me I got a number won't make it through the high noon sun the number burned in his head is the date his father left and the high noon sun is the time of day. I am my father's son and I am my father's son his bed is made I was a hero early in the morning I ain't no hero in the night His father's bed is made meaning his father never came back into the bed (or could be death reference of his bed is made he's dead) The singer is a hero in the morning for getting up and dealing with it but at night he can't take it anymore thus he's no longer a hero. I am my father's son and I'll build a house inside of you I'll go in through the mouth I'll draw three figures on your heart one of them will be me as a boy one of them will be me one of them will be me watching you run watching you run watching you run into the high noon sun watching you run farther than guns will go you are a runner with a stolen voice and you are a runner and I am my father's son I am my father's son I am my father's son he wants his father to not forget what he's done to his son. His father was a coward (thus runner/stolen voice). Also the son could see bits of his father inside of himself that he hates (I am my father's son). |

| Pink Floyd – Scream Thy Last Scream Lyrics | 19 years ago |
what doesn't make sense about "Blam blam your pointers point your pointers" its fun as hell to say! its a fantastic song. I actually think its Syd giving a message to the band just asking them to kick him out. and I also sometimes think it could be something that goes through his head during live shows (thus the audience at the end). Not sure either way still great as hell |

| Pink Floyd – Vegetable Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
its funny actually look at the lyrics in the first stanza. The ending is a contradition to what the dress that he's wearing is supposed to be yellow/happy= blue sad Blue/sad= pink/ happy embarrased paisy shirt/friendly= jerk the second stanza still confuses the hell out of me though. Well depending on if you think its pox or box can change it. But if his pants and shoes are in a pox then he's wearing a diesease. If they're in a box he's trapped. Then the watch I think its just saying he has nothing but time, or maybe pressure of time (dark side of the moon)? Then the last but of that stanza is about people taking things at face value I suppose The last is just about how he doesn't fit in anywhere because no one wants to take the time to actually look into what he's saying (all his songs really spell out what was wrong with him and I guess thats what he's reffering to). |

| I am The Walrus | |
| Syd Barrett – Opel Lyrics | 19 years ago |
On a distant shore, miles from land Stands the ebony totem in ebony sand A dream in a mist of gray... On a far distant shore... A totem can be a plant or a symbol of something, in this case a symbol. The symbol is a dream lost in the sands and also out of reach on the shores. The pebble that stood alone And driftwood lies half buried Warm shallow waters sweep shells So the cockles shine... Syd Barrett’s old self the him he wants to find is buried in the shore, and being hidden by bright shells. A bare winding carcass, stark Shimmers as flies scoop up meat, an empty way... Dry tears... his old self is dead (in Syd’s case probably from the fame) and everyone is pretty much picking apart what’s left of him. Crisp flax squeaks tall reeds Make a circle of gray in a summer way, around man Stood on ground... this is basically Syd wondering around the beach trying to find his way to his old self so that he can save it I’m trying I’m trying to find you! To find you I’m living, I’m giving, To find you, to find you, I’m living, I’m living, I’m trying, I’m giving He’s trying to find himself and that’s all that matters to himself. |

| My Chemical Romance – Famous Last Words Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree with ghost in the smow, except I'd reverse it. This is the pateints loved one talking to him as he dies. and I imagine the album as being back and forward between the 2. The Patient is dieing on the way to the hospitol and having these goofy hillusinations while his loved one who found him is trying to accept his dieing (AKA I don't love you/ Famous last words a combo of both of them in disenchanted), Then The patient is in the rest more or less. I'll have to think about this a little longer |
| My Chemical Romance – Mama Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| that makes complete sense actually halloween. Though maybe famous last words is actually the dieing moment then his life flashes before his eyes until it comes back full circle to the begining? | |
| My Chemical Romance – Teenagers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I actually think its "the patient" telling kids today to not waste they're life like he did, because in "The End" he says "You might wake up and notice you’re someone your not, If you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, You can find out first hand what it’s like to be me" and in this one he's telling teens to just be themselves and I thought the whats under your shirt thing was reffering to your heart. |

| Syd Barrett – Rooftop In A Thunderstorm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this makes me think of that scene in the wall "Anybody out there" where he shaves his head | |
| Syd Barrett – If It's In You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think its about a guy who's about to fall and no one really notices and even after he dies he's still hanging there but no one notices thus " Tom was the undergroud hold you tighter so close, yes you are please hold on to the steel rail" "skeleton kissed to the steel rail" and I guess the dude who could help him well he's too busy wallowing to do anything "colonel with gloves -draughts leeches he isn't loved on 'Sundays Mail' all the fives crock henrietta she's mean go-getter gotta write her a letter." I could be wrong though |
| Pink Floyd – Jugband Blues Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think the song is Syd's way of actually saying why he's acting the way he is. He feels trapped by the musical industry the throwing away of the old shoes and being dressed in red part I think symbolizes that the record industry the fame and all that was making him into something he didn't like. At the same time he really doesnt care about anything anymore he just wants to take a break from everything. then the ending lyrics is kinda like Syd saying that he's gone numb I dont know this all just came to me now, comments? |
| Pink Floyd – Hey You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
There's actually a music video for the song go to youtube and look it up if you have to. But yeah for the most part its self explanitory. Its about isolation and lonlyness, at first he loves it and kind of insults people for wanting in then he starts to think about it and wants to get out. (also Syd did inspire a vast part of the wall, the hotel, the head shaving, the not talking to anyone) But the wall is about Syd and Roger (actually I think you can see the start of the wall in Shine on you crazy diamond "pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there") |
| Pink Floyd – Waiting for the Worms Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I found this thing that really helps clear up the wall its "The Wall Under Construction" its a bootleg of the second demo of the wall. in the show must go on the lyrics are different in the middle "Its okay your in luck the rising sun the evil power is on the way forget the past start again" so with that I think I get the ending more now. Basically Waiting for the Worms is Pink trying to make the worms put him on trial and tear down the wall. Or maybe he actually does believe all of the stuff and he was trying to start a new life and fight off the worms and all of that as fassist pink http://jack.mauveweb.co.uk/artists/pinkfloyd/construct.html |

| The Network – Spike Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| heh this song is basically American Idiot in a nutshell | |
| Syd Barrett – If It's In You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
its great in one version I have in the middle he just stops in the middle of "I'M THIINNKKINNG look you know I'll start again I'll start again...its no its just the fact you know going through it I mean if you if we could cut...*goes back to singing*" I think I will try to find the meaning soon I do enjoy the song but like most Syd songs its a pain in the ass to understand the meaning |
| Pink Floyd – Lucy Leave Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| download it far as I know its only on a bootleg | |
| Pink Floyd – The Gnome Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think I agree with the people who said it was about drugs. Although I will admit this is probably my least favorite Syd song but its still good either way. I wonder where the band would have gone had Syd not become so damned difficult to work with...but we'll never know RIP |

| The Used – Under Pressure (with My Chemical Romance) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
elcapitanloco 7 magical words for you my friend "Don't dis it till you tried it". Anyways while Gerard and Bert are no Freddie Mercury or David Bowie they still did an okay job. and you want a crappy cover listen to Limp Biscuits behind Blue eyes. but anyhow the song its really good I think I may like the cover more both are good but I don't know the cover is just more energetic I think |
| Pink Floyd – Jugband Blues Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| RIP Syd, a legend that never reached his peak. Great song | |
| The Beatles – Good Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song is nice to hear after revolution 9 because your creeped out and scared from the prior song then this comes on and your like "wow there's nothing to be afraid of huummmm" anyhow. Good song to end a long album heh | |
| Syd Barrett – Dark Globe Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I find Syd to be...strangly addictive...who knew folk songs could be good...but then again I bet Syd could even make rap sound good HA. Anyhow the song I think is just Syd begging for help because he sees himself really slipping away (not nessisarly scizo you dont have to be a scizophrenic to go a little off the rocker) Poor Syd one of the greatest artists of all time and well...look at him now |
| Placebo – Dark Globe Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Personally I prefer Syd's version | |
| Placebo – Dark Globe Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Actually Syd didn't have scizophrenia he just kinda fried his brains...really tragic really. Anyhow the meaning of the song, it seems like Syd realizes he has a problem and he's begging for help from anyone and when he doesn't get it he starts wondering if anyone really misses him | |
| The Used – Back of Your Mouth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love the song its very Jazzy and I'm really not sure about the meaning...maybe its just about being at a party? and also Lyrical Avenger I hate to do this since you probably won't read this but... Stop tyring to be a smart ass know it all when all you are is a moron who is stuck up his own ass and trying to sound sophsticated (Hope I spelt that right last thing you ever want is to spell an insult wrong). |
| Pink Floyd – The Scarecrow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah I was pissy when I saw it wasnt on the list lol. Hmm maybe this song is Syd seeing what he might become? | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Cute Without The 'E' (Cut From The Team) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I still don't get why the hell anyone posts that a band sucks. I mean really are you that imature that you have to focus your time and energy into telling someone they have craappy music taste? great song love the video to (I just wish I knew what the hell was going on during it) anyways the song is pretty simple (and hopefully I got it right) its about a guy who's being cheated on but doesn't want to leave her. |
| The Offspring – Can't Repeat Lyrics | 19 years ago |
HA! I actually got the exact same thing. It is a great song to, I really do hope they make a come back soon. I just think its kind of funny that the band used to write about this that and whatever thats wrong with the world and when the economies going down da pooper you'd think that would inspire an album! (Just say fuck bush guys it worked for eminem and Green Day) |
| Green Day – Jaded Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| hmm I always wondered if the song tittle came from MTV "Jaded" becuase the songs about being stoned and apparently Billie was supposed to be high while on an MTV thing called "Jaded". *shrugs* I just always wondered that. | |
| Green Day – Android Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is probably my third favorite song off of Kerplunk (actually my favorite one). Yeah the menaing is pretty obvious lol still a great song though | |
| Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| HA! Well I don't think anyone would really want to go that low...Clinton was at least cool lol | |
| Soundgarden – The Day I Tried to Live Lyrics | 19 years ago |
yeah goodkind I got kind of the same meaning. I actually used this song for a Catcher In the Rye book report. I thought the song was just good for describing what would happen to Holden after Catcher. in the book he belived he was better than everyone even though he would at times he would do the same things he critizied other people for doing, so basically one day Holden like Carnell will realize that he is just as much of a phonie as other people. Its really an amazing song thought I relate to it alot actually. (Hopefully you guys don't find the Catcher in the Rye example as useless) |
