yeah, i was a bit confused about the rapture myself when i first heard of them. The Rapture does sound like it has something to do with God. |

and also, i think that people come to this site to see what the song REALLY MEANS and why the artist wrote what he wrote. versus somebody's claiming that it can mean anything. it has a specific purpose and whether you like it or not, amano hybrid, this song is about drugs. |

like dracula sucks your blood and life out of you, the drugs are sucking the life out of him as well. it's a slow decay that he sees. it's just a little poetic device that he uses. |

| The Chemical Brothers – Close Your Eyes Lyrics

there's definitely a significance in the use of a female voice that responds with the male voice. And they sing different parts at the same time. Such as when the male part sings " In your eyes I can see that you're cracking up" while the female part sings " What if all that was" and they join in on "and it pains my head". They are both experiencing some sort of problem that "pains their heads" probably some sort of break up between the two.
The male part realizes that she's had enough and fallen in love with someone else while the female wonders if "all that was coming to [her]" and there's nothing that they could do about it. it was just fate. |
