Open Up Your Heart Lyrics
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
When your sad and lonely
And your mind sees you only
Take a chance you can fight it
Open up your heart
When your sick inincomplete
Watch the stars not your feet
Feel the wind blown on your mind
Now your seeing blind
Fight the urge to say no
Bring You Friends then you'll know
Come inside step away
Kill your fears today
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
Kick the habit you have learned
You can do it you've been burned
When your sick eyes need a turn
Let the future learn
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
When your sad and lonely
And your mind sees you only
Take a chance you can fight it
Open up your heart
When your sick inincomplete
Watch the stars not your feet
Feel the wind blown on your mind
Now your seeing blind
Fight the urge to say no
Bring You Friends then you'll know
Come inside step away
Kill your fears today
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
Open up your heart
Kick the habit you have learned
You can do it you've been burned
When your sick eyes need a turn
Let the future learn
Open up your heart

I think this song has a religious meaning behind it. I never thought of the Rapture as religious people, but this lyric says it all. It's asking "us" to open up our hearts to some superior force (God) when we fall and can't stand up. And although I'm not a religious person, I can still see the beauty in this song.
sounds a lot like radiohead.
This track is superb, particulary with it being such a sharp contrast to the rock/techno stuff on the rest of album. The religious interpretation seems valid but to me its more about starting a new relationship after a previous one ended badly. You should 'Open Up Your Heart' to a new partner, in spite of the pain you could suffer as a result. Hence 'Take A Chance', 'Fight The Urge To Say No', 'Kill Your Fears Today' and "You Can Do It You've Been Burned'.
I think it helps that it's song so slowly and sadly; as if singing it from a higher or more cheerful place would seem a bit patronising. The singer's voice is perfect.
yeah, i was a bit confused about the rapture myself when i first heard of them. The Rapture does sound like it has something to do with God.
hmm...it's a full of genious that this song has title 'open up your heart' and before you heard the vocals and txt you hear soft guitar riffs and rythm that imitates beating of a heart...awesome..cause the music and the vocal are connected..make a unity...
but in my opinion this song is about breaking the loneliness...cause in the present people are closed in their own world and don't let others to it...this song is about opening on other people ang giving yourself without expecting anything...you should only trust others...cause when you alone you would feel incomplete all the time...to do this you shoud leave the past behind and step into the future breaking habits that you learn...and just let the future learn...
great song, great band, great album... i love them...
