the second verse goes like this: in a while I'll be gone but for now, all I want is to drive you home well, I'll drive you home again and the third verse like this: promises aren't enough all this ends all at once when I drive you home when I drive you home again |

| We Are Scientists – Tonight Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| yeah, Keith really likes to booze it up. but I don't necessarily think this song is only about drinking. it's about whatever he's trying to forget by drinking. | |
| The Strokes – What Ever Happened? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I don't think it's about break-ups at all. I think he's literally saying that he doesn't want to be remembered. as a part of current pop culture, that is. because it's full of crap like however many "countdown shows" we have. and he's comparing himself to Tennessee Williams because he obviously thinks Williams is worth remembering, unlike himself. | |

| We Are Scientists – Spoken For Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| We Are Scientists – Tonight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| haha he's saying "so, let's have another toast"! not dose. and i think it's "I end every day tryin' to think my way out of my lie//All I can say is it takes the truth every time" | |
| The Spinto Band – Brown Boxes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
this song seems to be about a break-up, I think. or, at least, moving out. "I've got this notion that moving out is better Than this commotion; If she complains I won't let her Tell me what to do And if she wants to argue I'll remind her that we're through" he's saying: 'ive got to move out 'cos this sucks, and if she tries to persuade me otherwise remind her that we've broken up!' "And all these brown boxes Haven't helped me move one bit In half-empty rooms they sit Stay, that's where they will stay I could never say I would never say: 'This is over'" 'I've got all these unpacked boxes, but I don't wanna go anywhere! it's hard breaking up.:(' "I've got this Cupid Hummel from (?)Wool-N-Sackit(?) It's pretty stupid, but nonetheless I'll pack it" 'I can't leave it for her!' "And this box-cutter's too dull Otherwise I'd end it all" 'If this box-cutter was sharp enough, I'd kill myself and end it all.' "And stay, that's where they will stay I could never place any other blame And how could you even go on living if it's so unintentional? I'd like to know" 'those boxes aren't moving; I can't blame anyone but myself; how can one go on living after a travesty such as this? That's what I'd like to know.' That's my theory. :) |

| We Are Scientists – That One Pop Gem Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I thought it was about a break-up. the wake was metaphorical, meaning, maybe, the actual time when they broke-up? or afterwards, when he went to the bar "too much mounring, too much drinking". and maybe the uncle broke his ribs cause he broke the uncle's neice's heart? |

| We Are Scientists – What's The Word Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this sng's got to do with a girl keith likes. he's been waiting for he to give him some sort of sign on whether or not he's got a shot, but she won't say anything, he won't give her a word. He's sick of waiting and waiting for a reply, he's been breaking plans and whatnot, waiting for her to say something, but she won't talk. I think, he maybe gives up at the end? Or, just says something like , "Save your breath, I already know what you're trying to say. yeah, who was I kidding? you don't want anything to do with me." but then, changes his mind? "just tell me already!" |

| We Are Scientists – Worth The Wait Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
my perception's just a bit different: I figure, Keith's obviously insanely in love with someone (or just really likes them). Keith wants to start a relationship up with them, but they keep saying no. I'm not sure why. Could be they've just gotten out of a relationship, something like that. But Keith keeps giving her time, but she keeps making excuses, and it's been so long, obviously far too long, but Keith thinks 'she's worth the wait, though, I guess'. he guesses, because he knows she's not really worth the wait if she's making him wait so long. I don't think she plans on ever being with Keith. She's probably just using him so she'll always have someone there and never be alone. |

| We Are Scientists – Textbook Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Keith's trying to please everyone around him, specifically this one person. He knows exactly what a person knows, he 'read it in a book', but 'having every question answered doesnt help'. just because he's read all the books on how to please, doens't mean he'll be able to please this one specific person. and this person he's trying to please really sucks. they're trying to get keith not to say or think something, maybe? they've got total control over his body, but none whatsoever on what he says or thinks. 'Twist my arm if that's the way you think you're gonna work this whole thing out/you know you own my body but don't think that you control my mouth'. that's why having every question answered doesn't help when you're not supposed to help, because she doesn't want him to know anything. and then the rest...I just don't know. the 'i'm smitten but not stupid' part's a bit obvious. he really likes her, but he can see right through her and knows she sucks. It's a textbook situation, because it's something you see all the time, whether it be on the t.v. or in a book. that's all I've got. |

thank you, kingoftherodeo, I really understand this song a lot better, and now I don't think I could listen to it without crying! yay. I nearly cry everytime keith cries in the video. but the black & white one is ace! I love Michael and his glass of liquid refreshment. |

| We Are Scientists – It's A Hit Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think that Pierot and Jonteh, yes! You two are on the ball. But I'm thinking : maybe they got a bit farther than just something almost happening. like, something did ahppen, but now the girl won't give Keith the time of day, and he doesn't understand because he thought everything was going great, and he thught they were friends, but he just can't understand. | |

| We Are Scientists – Can't Lose Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song's sort of self-explainitory (if I've got it right). It's about someone changing, turning into something they're not and really shouldn't be. Probably changing because of trying to please someone else, I think that because of the line "I'd be willing to take the shape of what you wanted if/I could just figure it out". but..yeah. Pretty self-explanitory |

| We Are Scientists – Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Reading other people's meanings helped me figure out mine a little more, and he's what i got from this song: So there's this boy (Keith), and he's with a certain lady. And their relationship isn't the best (it could be that she's cheating on someone to be with Keith, it could be something completely different, it could be Keith's cheating on someone, or they could both be, etc., etc. It doesn't matter, all you need to know is it's a bad relationship.) Keith is saying to the girl: "No, please, you can't leave, I'll explode, I'll die without you." Hence the "Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt". He's telling her not to move (away), or he'll get hurt extremely badly. Keith is trying to convince her to stay with him by telling her she can treat him like crap, do whatever she wants to him, as long as she stays with him, because Keith needs her. I'm thinking she probably already treats him like crap, hence the badness in the relationship. But the part I'm unsure about, is the proof and whether or not he's making it up. Maybe he needs proof for him to stay with her? |
