I think that in this song, Stephen is talking about how impossible it is for him to completely get over or forget about this old love. It sounds like their relationship was filled with chaos, and perhaps he misses that in his life? - ("Everything is quiet, since your not around..."); ("I do the things we did before I walk Haight Street to the store And they say where's that crazy girl You don't get drunk on red wine and fight no more...") It sounds like he became so attached to this girl and was so deeply connected with her, that even after he had to leave the relationship because it got too crazy, he still couldn't turn his back on it all. Even though its over, he grew so accustomed to his life that he completely restructured around her, that even a long time after the demise of their relationship, all of the plans he makes in his life still unavoidably involve her being in his life. |

| O.A.R. – Love and Memories Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think I have a pretty good idea of what this song is really about. It's funny that you can listen to a song at one point in your life, and you may like it, but sometimes it stops there. After going through certain things, you hear the song again, and it takes on a whole new level and depth of meaning. You FEEL the song. It's almost like your hearing the song for the first time again. Maybe some of you can relate to this? Our perception of the world and how we view life directly correlates with the life experiences we go through personally. I recently broke up with my girlfriend. Felt like I had found THE person I was destined to be with. Every single quality that I've ever looked for collectively throughout my lifetime in a significant other, I found in her. I had a vision of what a perfect girlfriend would be like, and she was the one. Than just like that, she was gone. I think that O.A.R's singer is talking about finding and being with the person you were destined to be with. Than the girl foolishly parts ways. You are left dwelling on yesterdays when the two of you were still entangled together in this deep love, not wanting to let go, so you are stuck. Metaphorically drowning in the love that you shared and all of the memories. I definitely feel this song. Has anybody else been there? |
