@[bettiebokchoy:30491] interesting! so I was way off, as I expected! the parts with spoon and tune I thought I always heard, though - just couldn't get it to make any contextual sense. |

@[sneeuwitje:30472] my take was - though i never dared posting it truth be told - always along the lines of: "You can see (it in) the question So contemporar... (something) Seen my true reflection With no intention To be seen (is it soon) You need (is it soon) A guarantee (is it soon) And people will (something)". |

I encourage folk's contribution to the lyrics of this most perfect of pop songs! Thought I'd give it a crack, since I couldn't find the lyrics anywhere cheers |
| The Verve – Bittersweet Symphony Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The part towards the end is missing, the one that goes: "It's just sex and violence, melody and silence" repeatedly. Furthermore, I've read that british word for mold is actually mould, which is what Ashcroft apparently uses in the song. Well, amazing song to say the least, one of the best ever. |
| Vic Godard & The Subway Sect – Ambition Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Third verse, first line; I've always heard it as: "Am I guided or is life a dream?" Not 100% sure though. |
| George Harrison – Not Guilty Lyrics | 12 years ago |
First off I thought I was one of Lennon's, but to my surprise it's Harrison's. Cool song. From what I can see, it's on Harrison's self-titled album from '79. But the version, that I've become familiar with, is the stripped-down demo-version recorded on may '68 - for The Beatles-heads; "The Kinfaun-Session". The session that John, Paul and George made at George's house back then, laying the ground for "The White Album", released circa 6 months thereafter. And I really do prefer that version to the studio one. Recommended! |

| Bee Gees – I Started a Joke Lyrics | 13 years ago |

"This is a very spiritual song. The listeners have to interpret it themselves — trying to explain it would detract from the song." (Robin Gibb, The Mail On Sunday November 1, 2009) |

| Robert Pollard – Wrinkled Ghost Lyrics | 13 years ago |
There is wind in the trees It whispers like a song And I ask you please Are your lasers applied? Is your contribution generous Enough to go inside With the good in everyone? For this we have been striving This trip is a task too long I insist you take the driving Will you go where you’re steered? Do you call your boyfriend Little John? Do you call his father weird? Do you love him the most? Does he iron out all the nasty creases From your wrinkled ghost? Some guys have very sharp eyes And some are simply hiding And some might testify To the best of worlds colliding I'll not set sail today Without the gods to bless me You'd like I should go away But I shall refuse endlessly |

| Iggy Pop – I Got Nothin' Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Wait a minute... these are not the lyrics for "I Got Nothin'" but "I Got A Right". Change the title, please. | |
| Robert Pollard – In A Circle Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Suggestions of more correct lyrics are welcome. | |
| Beat Happening – Tiger Trap Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Exceptional song about love and the loss of it. | |
| Guided by Voices – Awful Bliss Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Amazing song - even though I can't find Ray Davies anywhere in there. Well... @helooksdaft; I'll say you're on to something. I believe - though not entirely certain - I can hear Sprout singing the second time around: "No, I wouldn't dare to bring out your awfulness". Just a guess, though. |
| The Screamers – 122 Hours Of Fear Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This is amazing, life-affirming music. 5 days and 2 hours is such a very long time. |
| Nico – The Fairest Of The Seasons Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Yes, truly a beautiful and mesmerizing song, to say the least. | |
| Guided by Voices – The Ugly Vision Lyrics | 14 years ago |
On second thoughts; "pell-mell" is, apparently, an American slang for doing something, in this case fleeing; "in frantic disorderly haste". My mistake. |
| Guided by Voices – The Ugly Vision Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Good, interesting song... Pell Mell is, or maybe more correctly "was", apparently, a Portland-based instrumental rock group. |
| Guided by Voices – Little Whirl Lyrics | 14 years ago |
First off; I was just a bit surprised to find the lack of this great song on this site, so I chose to post it. Furthermore, as the case is here, the lyrics are quite incomprehensible at times, and I AM aware of that not every line is correct. Rock out, blast rock, man. :) |

| The Kinks – Death Of A Clown Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Furthermore, I believe I can hear Dave singing "cracks". | |
| The Kinks – Death Of A Clown Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Brilliant song! And yes, interesting discussion, whether it is "cracks" or "clags". Clags is indeed a word, a noun. Here it is refered to a someting which sticks: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/clag |

| Guided by Voices – Game Of Pricks Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Among the best rock songs of the '90s - undeniably. | |
| Guided by Voices – King & Caroline Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song - like almost all of "Alien Lanes" - is wonderful (for lack of a better word). I'm not sure I know what the lyrics mean, and I have no clear interpretation of it at this point, but the song flows along just wonderfully, least not thanks to the layers of voices at the end. |
| Guided by Voices – Curse Of The Black Ass Buffalo Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I really dig this song; the feel of it and such... But the lyrics seem somewhat puzzling to me. Does anyone have a clear interpretation of this? |
| Screeching Weasel – Good Morning Lyrics | 18 years ago |

There's more between heaven & earth than it appears, I guess - something hard to explain. Good song btw! cheers:) |

Gooooooooood song... really is, most of all on a pers. level for me... But hey, plz stop that shit: "no1's posting anyting on blur" or "no1 likes blur" and so on.. ffs, blur is/was a great band, and just cause there are few posts on a brilliant song or band, doesnt mean that they suck... y'know? Cheers; |

| AFI – My Michelle (Guns N Roses cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Well well well, apart from Davey and his imitation/emulation on this, this song swings righteously in my opinion. Really cool coverversion! | |
| Elton John – Rocket Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
OK! So maybe this song is Elton "coming out", revealing his sexuality and blabla. Maybe "rocket" means he likes big, err, men :S BUT PLZZZ then, explain the line "I miss my wife"! This is Just a thought. Honestly this is all very interesting; drugs and sex etc., but the way I see it, it's probably just another John/Taupin fantasy-piece, or someth like that, that turned out brilliantly. Cheers. :D |
| Jethro Tull – Wond'ring Aloud Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well, never thought of it that way, but, you know, could be along those lines.. :-) To me, it's always been this feelgood-song about, ehm, feeling good. You know, sunny afternoon, the '60s... Ian, in an easy mind, sitting on the bed with his guitar strumming, composing, etc. Good stuff |
| Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – People Ain't No Good Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Queens of the Stone Age – Long Slow Goodbye Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Followup to the last comments ... Mark Lanegan is, as we all know, blues-informed, and this is very audible on this track. Total blues all the way, straight up; the feel, the chords, the progression. And ofc. the lyrics(!) bear unmistakeable blues imagery ("Roll & tumble all night long" etc.) Love this stuff! |
| Pavement – Father To A Sister Of Thought Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Wow.... I really can't believe this hasn't been changed yet!!! Kinda poor... anyways, WHEN u guys decide correct these lyrics; it's also quite audible that Malkmus repeats "too much" in the last line in the 1st verse ("Cause too much, too much will leave you"). You know what I'm talkin bout! Man, I love this band! :D |
| Elton John – Don't Go Breaking My Heart Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Joe Jackson – It's Different For Girls Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Oh my... first time I've heard it - I think - and now I can't imagine a life without it!!! I've fallen in love with this song & can't stop listening to it. Anything else written here is an understatement, so I'll just leave it at that, then. Perfect.. | |
| Pavement – Father To A Sister Of Thought Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Because I really, err, "dig" this band, album and song in particular, I'll post this: 2nd verse, 5th line; it's not "Tired place..." but "Tired FACE...", as far as I know. Hope I'm correct, haven't checked if there are anyother misspells here. Cheers! :D |
