This song is so blatantly depressing. How do you define hate or love? How do you define anything? I think it's saying that if you have loved, then.. so what? It didn't matter. It happened and it's over. Maybe Wayne is saying their is no point or reason to anything. You have to give into the fact that you can't change the universe's ways. "As the dawn began to break I had to surrender." Sounds like he was really depressed when writing this one. Or just trying to be as honest as he could. It's funny because in "The Gash", on The Soft Bulletin, he was saying that we should keep fighting on and to not give up. Now he's saying the opposite. |

| Humans need reason. We weren't meant to understand everything, but it still tortures me that if we need reason, then why can't we have it? Maybe it's about finding comfort even if there isn't heaven or hell. In "The Spark that Bled", it suggests that religion might just be a form of comfort. | |
