| mewithoutYou – All Circles Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Actually, it's obvious. The meaning isn't changed as long as you always read it, "All circles presuppose ___ end where they begin..." But if you start with "____ end where they begin, but only in their leaving can they come back around, all circles presuppose." then it only works with "they'll" The point of the song is to be circular in theme and musically. I don't know enough about the actual notes being played to spot any circular patterns, but if I had to guess I'm sure there are. |

| mewithoutYou – All Circles Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Can you think of any way that this would change the meaning? | |
| Stars – We Don't Want Your Body Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song makes me think of Ke$ha and how ridiculously shallow the whole idea of her is. It's even poppy like the music she....makes(?) just to break the music away from her identity in order to shine light on her "trashy" style. Which, as was said, is what society tries to sell us. |
| mewithoutYou – Allah, Allah, Allah Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| he has said that he personally believes in the Christian God, but as far as their music goes that he wants it to be about god no matter who's. and i think his main point is, if he can sing about a god who is good and forgiving and loving and it always describes each religion's god equally....this must say something about the relation of all these religions. it also begs the question, why argue over it? we're all aiming for the same thing (part of which is "peace" aka "not-arguing")! | |
| mewithoutYou – Allah, Allah, Allah Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i meant to rate you up but i accidentally pressed the minus. As for the second minus...i don't know what loon did that. | |
| mewithoutYou – Allah, Allah, Allah Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| that too, but he's not discrediting the name "Allah", he's saying that this God that we think of to be a person is actually present within everything. This reminds me of Jeff Mangums words he put in the booklet instead of lyrics for king of carrot flowers pt. 2. That he believes there is a "White Light" in all of us. | |
| As Cities Burn – Made Too Pretty Lyrics | 16 years ago |
in the booklet instead of "how'd the pretty man get so ugly" it says "jesushow'dyougetsougly" it's about humans seeing God in themselves (because we were made in his image) and thinking it's our own doing. the meaning of pretty could just as well be physical beauty as our actions. Good exists because God exists, not because we create it. Humans aren't original enough to come up with "good" by themselves. |
| As Cities Burn – '84 Sheepdog Lyrics | 16 years ago |
@pizza there's no reason they can't be against organized religion and still believe in the Christian God. Organized religion, more often than not, warps Gods word or fixes your brain to believe certain things before you know the difference. (See Norma Jean - Shotgun Message and Organized Beyond Recognition) though, HAHBASSIST, i'm glad you listen to As Cities Burn. the lessons they teach about religion are essential. most people see God in black and white, either you believe in him and therefore belong to a group of pre-decided beliefs and rituals or you don't believe there is any possibility for a god at all. This is just not the case, and it's something too many simple minded people overlook when they start "making decisions for themselves." this error in judgment just shows how much help they really do need. |

the potato called from underground "you've got it all turned upside down!" -my favorite line on the album so far |
| mewithoutYou – The Fox, the Crow, and the Cookie Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| yeah, isn't it great?! the music picks up so amazingly you can see everything happening at once! the bird flapping it's wings cheering in pride, the fox jumping up to grab the now falling candy, and at this moment everyone is pleased but all for the wrong reasons. | |
| mewithoutYou – Allah, Allah, Allah Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Thanks, that's what i heard too, but i didn't want to put words in peoples' heads. Also, Allah means father and i think this song is supposed to be along the lines of G-d. Everyone that believes there is a good and forgiving God should forget the semantics about their differences and learn to be more like God: forgiving and peaceful. In a word i think the theme here is: coexist. The world is beautiful and we need to learn to enjoy it. Also, i want to sing forgiveness songs in their band =D |
| mewithoutYou – The Fox, the Crow, and the Cookie Lyrics | 16 years ago |
the second line is needs to be changed to "up acre from" the third line is "peddling." he's not riding a bike. and is it just me or does the blank sound like, "i got a walnut brownie brain" take the "the" out of "crushed the graham cracker crust" it's not HIS knee, it's "Will rest upon the knee" also, for those who are curious as i was, an escadrille is a European air squadron more notably a French one of 10 or more aircraft. |
| As Cities Burn – Wake Dead Man, Wake Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think this whole album has a dual meaning. the most prominent being marriage, but the second being God talking to his children. we are at our darkest, and we are still loved. the answer to WWJD is love. every time. |
| As Cities Burn – Love Jealous One, Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's talking about the people who do good deeds with the intent to look better than others. The symbol of looking down from a tower at heaven refers to people who think they can achieve some form of greatness that is higher than God and thus become better than any other human. But we will always be under God, no one will be perfect, and all good should be with the intent of spreading more good, not becoming better than others. "We will wear compassion... Like a child it's all I know" Compassion: it's a simple idea. when you're a child it's easy to forgive, but as we grow older we complicate and dilute things with our humanly judgments. We aren't in charge of anyone's life but our own. If we all lived with compassion we will be able to live in piece like a beautiful puzzle that meshes together in peace. Childishly simple, but without God it is impossible. |

o yeah, i remember reading that somewhere too. national geographic maybe? fail -_- |
| August Burns Red – Consumer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this song because i can pull it out when people bash metal/hardcore music for being whiny and negative. this is one of the most straight forward and level-headed evaluations of life. not complicated, anyone that reads this can get the message. i especially like the line "You really don't have it that bad. Try looking through the glass of beauty." |
| Pedro the Lion – Foregone Conclusions Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Bazan doesn't "make fun", he's being totally serious. | |
| Pedro the Lion – Eye on the Finish Line Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song relates back to the first track. the two brothers go walking to grandma's house and even though one brother made it, he forgot that the more important goal wasn't making it to grandma's and getting tea and cake, but keeping his brother from dying on the path there. and after the instrumental the brother that made it is talking about what he expects to find for HIMSELF in heaven completely forgetting about his brother. the way the husband looks at death and thinks, "oh it'll be okay, i'll meet up with her in heaven" is like the brother who made it to grandma's. he kept focusing on what his reward was through life and even death, never once noticing how wrong he was. |
| Pedro the Lion – Never Leave a Job Half Done Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i know i'm responding to a comment made like 6 years ago, but i find it ironic that tobenut85 read "Eye On the Finish Line" and thought it was a happy ending when the whole point was that close-minded christian people always see heaven as their destiny no matter how wrong they actually are. Let me repeat for clarification: not all Christians, specifically the "close-minded" kind. | |
| Gym Class Heroes – Cookie Jar (feat. The-Dream) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
no one here really thinks it's really about cookies dude -_- the meaning is so obvious it doesn't seem to be in GCH's normal poetic fashion. they seem to be trying to appeal to the mass instead of a smaller artistic crowd. that's why people are thinking "sell out" |
| Pedro the Lion – Options Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this album is not supposed to relate to religion except in the most depressing ways. it's obviously a story about a couple with problems. IMO, the theme of this album and the way david delivers it, is one of the saddest themes in the history of stories. This track might be the most depressing song i've ever read when it comes to the truth about relationships. but anyway, bottom line: he isn't talking about christianity or christians, so let's stop bringing it up. |
| Norma Jean – Pretty Soon, I Don't Know What, But Something Is Going To Happen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
beyond the obviousness of time being a killer, i see it referring to those moments in your life when you're really depressed because of goings on and people frequently commit suicide because they can't see it ever getting any better.....this song is reason to keep living. "it's all worth while, time goes on" |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Comely Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| /agree | |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – The Fool Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song kind of seems like a "now we travel back in time to where our story began" to transition between the story about the two-headed boy to the songs about anne frank. notice there's another instrumental (untitled) right before they wrap up the two-headed boy story with pt 2. i suspect the instrumentals are placed to separate the two stories, and usually when this is done the stories parallel, one usually being a metaphor for the more complicated second.....this has given me a new view on the entire album actually... |
| Lovedrug – Borrowed Legs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i think it's "a borrowed halo will always drag you down" | |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
anyone else think this is kind of along the lines of a riddle? i don't think the "Two-headed boy" is a person, i think it's either an object or an idea. something to do with the radio. that said, they can listen to the radio in the dark. and radios have notches and spines that you would be forced to place your fingers on because you're in the dark. don't get me wrong, i think the sexual theme is intentional, but still...the two-headed boy...is something... |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Lyrics | 17 years ago |
anyone else think the line is "Now WE don't even know his name" instead of "He"? well first off, Anne is referring to Anne Frank, like the rest of the album. I think WE makes more sense because it's talking about the secrets that she shared with a loved one long before her holocaust days, and now they're buried so well that the only person who might know them, "WE don't even know his name". |
| Pedro the Lion – Nothing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
As much as I love Pedro the Lion and Bazan, I think this song is rather naive. You could say that right and wrong are all about frame of reference, but to say that nothing is always wrong is to ignore that there is such thing as right and wrong. Sometimes Bazan reminds me of a section of my life when I was very confused, except he never left. Very angsty, and yet always arguing that all he wants is to be himself. In some ways I agree with this song, but knowing that Bazan claims to be a God follower (christian or not) this ignores a lot of what we are blatantly told via the Bible. Then again, he could be opposed to the Bible too. In which case I'm not sure how he became accidentally associated with Christianity at all. But that's cool too. |
| Showbread – Drug Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Since it hasn't been posted yet, this song is off of Goodbye is Forever. Not positive, but the recordings sound like it's most likely their first album. | |
| Showbread – Your Friends Are Fake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
How is the best line of this song not mentioned at all? "It's a good idea to have more than one friend...That way you can talk about one when the other isn't around" ...which if you think about it, probably could have been phrased better. |
| Pedro the Lion – Indian Summer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i'm pretty sure it continues from "Penetration" where the dad gets fired. In this song, he's arriving home after being fired and the Indian Summer is the time between getting home, and breaking the news to the family. For this song, everyone's still happily living unaware...for now. | |
| Pedro the Lion – Rapture Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song, along with the whole album, makes me want to cry. they capture the emotion and pain of cheating lovers so beautifully........what a sad, sad world.... | |

| Copeland – What Do I Know? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
from the booklet: It's brittle and it trembles as the wind is coming toward, and if you string it up it dries right out with time. So raise your glass to that new dollar in the bank we're reaching for. But the drink was sweeter before we had a dime. But you're far away now and you've got troubles all your own just to spend your whole life shooting down. What do I know? If you feel restless where you are, it may be easier to stay. There area million other fools to make your bed. And they'll be closing all the shades to keep you right there in that grave. And I'll be knocking 'cause you never left my head. But you're far away now and you've got troubles all your own just to spend your whole life counting down. What do I know? |

| Gym Class Heroes – To Bob Ross with Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| Demon Hunter – My Heartstrings Come Undone Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this looks like a breakup song of sorts. he says he's trying to convince himself that the other person won't be there for him forever. but even though he realizes this, it won't keep him from loving them and being there for them and if they should break up, he will wait for them and pray for them and if they should live together until death, he will stay and decay with them. either way, he has decided his love is unending. beautiful |

| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics | 17 years ago |
that's a shallow argument. the reality is, if i were given the choice between my life or my child's life...i think any parent can answer that. it's just sickening that people see nothing wrong with choosing to live in place of someone else. i hope to never be as selfish. If your mind is in a place where stopping another child from being born is worth your life, or worse, your comfort, then your priorities are all wrong. your speck of a life is always worth less than a brand new one. |
| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| As Cities Burn – Wrong Body Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i can't help but think "All the love I want to give gets caught between every rib what does that make you?" is making a connection between Adam's rib and women. if this is the case, this kind of relates back to New Sun where he's talking about putting other things/people in front of God. so it goes, God made him, God made women, he puts his love in women, the love "gets caught" before it reaches God, so...what does that make God? by "wrong body" i think he's thinking, if I had died earlier (before i sinned) would that get me into heaven? he's not in the same body as he once was and even after death he wishes he could go back in time and die earlier.......im stretching it now i think, but i like the idea lol |
