The Bullet Never Lies, and Time Will Prove All Things (An Allegory of Unfaithful Jerusalem)

I think this song is comparing America to Biblical Israel. often in the Old Testament, the nation of Israel is referred to as "her", and were also consistently unfaithful to God. I think the "like mother, like daughter" line is where he draws the connection to America. not to mention where he comes right out and says "hello America".

I am continually amazed how thoroughly The Chariot songs are rooted in Scripture. This song comes directly from Ezekiel 16. I'll used Today's NIV.

Jerusalem as an Adulterous Wife

1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her detestable practices 3 and say, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says to Jerusalem: Your ancestry and birth were in the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. 4 On the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean, nor were you rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths. 5 No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you.
