| Oh, Sleeper – THE FIRE DAWN Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I have to respectfully disagree with your DellowMan, I don't think it's the anti-christ speaking. This is pretty straightforward I think. Instead of these words coming from the anti-christ, I think they are coming from a normal human. This person lived once to satisfy his flesh and do evil things right up until his end ("Though facing death, i dined on flesh..."), but somewhere along the way he realized the error of his ways and God turned him to the good side, and the good side is going to be outnumbered because there are always more unsaved humans than there are saved ("but now I live to fight out-numbered"). Also, it's pretty obvious that the guy speaking here is on the good side because he flat out says that he's fighting hell ("Send me all of hell and I'll face them"). The rest of the song is pretty much about the battle that ensues. God's light empowers the "good guys", while Satan's light seeks to destroy ("with a light not meant to empower but reigned to devour"). The guy speaking is encouraged by the fact that hell's reign is coming to an end, and proof of it is written (in Revelation, which this album seems to be about). |

| Oh, Sleeper – WORLD WITHOUT A SUN Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure this song is written from Satan's perspective. Satan fears a world without the sun because he knows that it means his end is coming soon (one of the seals in revelation is blotting out the sun). So, he fears his end, but even though he faces his end, he still doesn't fear God (the one who actually took the sun away). | |

I think it's about religion; lancer-357 probably has a lot of it right. And morgansmbby, this song is on the EP, which was released before Jerry even joined the band. |

| Oh, Sleeper – We Are the Archers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i'm gonna have to disagree with you. if you look at the previous song, "the sirens song," at the end of it, the main character fell victim to the seduction of the sirens. now, he prepares for battle against his enemies, but he is not prepared because of the sirens. as this song progresses, the enemies are winning, and the main character is sure of his own death. but, at the last second, his reinforcements, the 'armored march' come, and friendly archers take out the enemy. such a freaking sweet song. |

| Underoath – Sálmarnir Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The lyrics I posted here are the words of the soft-spoken man who comes into the song first. Does anyone know what the other guy, apparently screaming to a crowd, is saying? | |
| Zao – Song 1 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| There is an entire verse before what is seen here. Unfortunately, all the lyrics I've seen only have this part. | |

| Just because you are agnostic doesn't mean Christians can't share their thoughts on an openly Christian band. | |

| The Comeback Kid – Wake The Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Perhaps this song has a spiritual meaning? After all, Comeback Kid is a Christian band. It could be about waking the spiritually dead. | |
| Showbread – Matthias Replaces Judas Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song is simply amazing. This is the only song that I know of that can actually make me cry. "by me you were abandoned, by me you were betrayed, yet in your arms and in your heart forever i have stayed" |

| Norma Jean – Vertebraille - Choke That Thief Called Dependance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| or maybe the "her" is referring to love? | |
| Underoath – Walking Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I absolutely love the acoustic parts in the middle! amazing! "wounded spirit face in the dirt i cry out for you to take me in your heart holds me close, and i look up to face this world which so scares me faith in you loneliness just seems to fade." This song is obviously about how Dallas turned away from God. When he finally realized he couldn't do anything on his own, he went back and God lovingly accepted him. |

| Underoath – Watch Me Die Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Agreed, this song is awesome. It's about how Christ essesntially makes us dead to the power of sin. I love how Dallas has the guts to trash talk to satan...haha! | |

"A life left half behind, though no longer blind I can't yet see. I'm not the boy that I once was, but I'm not the man I'll be." i less than three mwY! |

Hmm, maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are an openly Christian band. Again, you hit the nail on the head, concrete. |

| As I Lay Dying – Control Is Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Control is dead, as in Christians should forfeit all control of their life to God and let Him take control. I agree with mofn nine on the "we must look past what is in front of us" part. |

| As I Lay Dying – Confined Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind." --Ecclesiastes 1:14 This song is about how life outside of God is impersonal, purposeless, and meaningless. For life outside of God, all that has been done is gone once death comes, and ultimately life's work amonts to absolutely nothing. |

| As Cities Burn – Bloodsucker Pt. 2 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is indeed an awesome song, both musically and lyrically. It took me a while to interpret the lyrics, but I finally think I have something worth noting. This song is basically a battle between the singer's sinful, fleshly desires (bloodsucker) and the desires of the Holy Spirit. "stretch me out across the table turn my insides out turn me into someone else someone more like yourself" The singer wants to be transformed from his sinful self into someone who reflects God. "stretch me out bother not with ties, i promise to lie perfectly still i swear not to scream at my becoming part of the machine" Here, the singer states that he is willing to go through the painful process of letting God destroy his flesh and replace it with something that God has intended. In the video, I think the doctor in the operating room is symbolic for God, and he seems to be doing some kind of operation on the mouth. I think the cover over the mouth of the people in the video is representative of sin, and the doctor is removing it. You will notice the posters in the video seem to be propoganda saying things like "silence." I may be wrong, but that is what I get from this song. |
