|Genesis – Land Of Confusion Lyrics||9 years ago|
|No, not really the government. The government is just the result of the societ.|
|Afroman – Because I Got High Lyrics||9 years ago|
|Drugs are bad, m'kay...|
|Rammstein – Moskau Lyrics||13 years ago|
I think this song is about some things (such as the city moskow for example) are very shiny and wonderful on the one side (with all it's culture, and history, and rich people), but can often have very dark sides as well (the poverty, crimes, corruption).
And the song says that it's true that it's not all that nice at it often is made to look like, but he still loves the city despite (or even because of) that.
Also, I think it's interesting that this song comes right after "America" on the album, which I think approaches the same topic from a different way. (I think america is about our hypocracy blaming all bad things on america while we are exactly as bad as they are).
America is a very happy song, while Moskau has a much darker tone. Together these songs say that things are this way everywhere on the world and only seem to be different at first sight.
|Rammstein – Keine Lust Lyrics||13 years ago|
|And in about every rammstein video, Flake has to portray the one who is different. ;)|
|Rammstein – Keine Lust Lyrics||13 years ago|
It is, but it's also the common way to say "I don't want". Not meaning one is opposed to it, but simply not motivated or "having no desire" to do it.
And I'm quite sure it's about depression. And also another song about dying alone (like Mutter, Adios, or Spieluhr).
|Rammstein – Reise, Reise (English) Lyrics||13 years ago|
|I think the song is basically about killing and being killed, and also those who survive the all the killing around them.|
|Knorkator – Du bist so Still Lyrics||13 years ago|
Awsome song. The lyrics are the exact oposite of the music and the way they are sung.
And obviously, it's about admiring people who maintain calm and reflect about things instead of trying to yell the loudest.
|Knorkator – Alter Mann Lyrics||13 years ago|
Very obvious: This song is about how when you get older, you don't really care for the things younger people make such a fuss about and think their concerns are silly.
Though the song is from the point of view of an old man, many of my mid-20s friend quote the song when we're shaking our heads about teenagers "problems".
|Rammstein – Nebel (English) Lyrics||13 years ago|
I think this song is intentionally left unclear. She wants to tell something, but we'll never know what it is. And also his memories are fading, making everything even more obscure. And, well, mist is also insubstantial and quickly fades away.
And I think THAT's what the song is about at it's core: Reflecting about how the past fades away as the memories become unclear and things that once were very important start to cease existing.
|Rammstein – Adios Lyrics||13 years ago|
"Nothing is for you, nothing was for you, nothing remains for you, forever (allways)" makes it pretty clear to me, that it's about suicide by overdose. I don't now the actual effects of heroine overdose, but I think he want's to go with a bang. He's completely blacked out, but inside he feels very alive (as you hear in the music) until he dies.
And "er hat die augen aufgemacht, doch er ist nicht aufgewacht" is best translated as "and he opened his eyes, but he did not wake up". In german it's pretty obvious that he's dead.
|Rammstein – Rein Raus (English) Lyrics||13 years ago|
|No, the elephant is a reference to a big penis.|
|Rammstein – Zwitter (English) Lyrics||13 years ago|
I think this song has in fact many layers.
One is not caring about "the other people" but just being yourself.
Another one is about being happy with what you are, even when it's different from the rest of society.
But there's also one about narcism and being self-absorbed.
And it's probably a bit about LGBT-rights, but that's only because the vocabulary is used to put the other things into words. I don't really think that's one of the intentions behind the song.
|Rammstein – Spieluhr Lyrics||13 years ago|
I think in some way the song is about neglect.
First the child wants to be alone, probably because life is rough in his family. Then nobody realizes that it's not dead, which could mean that nobody really cared for it too much. And then they just burry it alive, which would be ultimate abandonment. In the grave the child plays with the music box and sings alone, so it has to completely care for itself as everyone left it there. Not even angles come, either to mourn for it or rescue it.
In the end, they dig it out and the child continues singing and still no angel is crying, meaning that though it had been rescued nothing really changes for it.
Maybe a bit of a stretch, but the story of a child neglected by it's family and the rest of the world uncaring would fit it quite well I think.
|Rammstein – Mutter (English) Lyrics||13 years ago|
I think this song is about how life in this world has become often quite artifical and lonely, and feels cold and empty to people.
They wish for warmth they cannot find (no mother cares for them) and have nobody to support them (having no family). Instead they are all alone in the cold world of steel and concrete (being artificial beings). They feel rage and despair for their situation and at the same time want to punish someone for it and have someone who cares for them, but there's simply nobody there. And in the end, their hatred for the empty world makes them kill themselves.
|Rammstein – Mein Herz Brennt Lyrics||13 years ago|
I think it's part of both: I think it's about the feelings of the uncertainity of the world outside and the inability to discern good and evil people and that it can really frighten you in the dark of night.
But the chorous "Mein Herz brennt" doesn't fit in with that too well.
|Rammstein – Morgenstern (English) Lyrics||13 years ago|
|I think this song is basically about self-consciousness and (inspired by 6linde6mann6) self-destruction. Be it a single person, societies, or the whole world. Many people have negative thoughts and feel overwhelmed by it, but the truth isn't far so bad. And from the singers point of view, it's sad to see people like that, and he wishes that they find hope again.|
|Rammstein – Amerika Lyrics||13 years ago|
Despite what everyone thinks, this seems not to be an anti-american song to me, not at all.
"America" is obviously the name of all the bad things in the world because of heartless capitalism, and imperialism, and the exploitation of the poor nations and how they get a foreign culture pressed on. Everyone knows it and everyone blames america for it.
But here's the pointe of the song: "We're ALL living in america." And that's not because americans invaded us or we were forced to adopt their culture, but because we're all embracing it. And it's not just american imperialism and exploitation, but all industrial nations take part in it.
And I think that's the real meaning of the song: Everyone is pointing at the americans and calls them evil (which was really en vouge at the time the song ccame out) but in fact we're just screaming so we can silence our own consciousness.
|Rammstein – Mein Teil Lyrics||13 years ago|
The "inspiration" is really obvious, but I think behind that, the deeper meaning of the song is about madness and "bloodlust". Which manifests in canibalism.
I think there's clearly nothing about cold-blooded precession in it, when you listen to it.
|Rammstein – Reise, Reise Lyrics||13 years ago|
I'm not usually feeling like singing, but this song manages every time.
And loud, with passion. ^^
|Equilibrium – Widars Hallen Lyrics||13 years ago|
|I think the meaning of this is, that on the long run, nature is invincible and endures short interruptions by humanity.|
|Equilibrium – Des Sängers Fluch Lyrics||13 years ago|
|I think this song is basically a new version of "Spielmannsfluch" by In Extremo.|
|Equilibrium – Met Lyrics||13 years ago|
|Not really too much to say to this: Beverages are a cool stuff! ^^|
|Eurythmics – I Saved The World Today Lyrics||13 years ago|
|I think it all works, if you don't make your interpretation too specific. In essence, most people take from the song the basic massage, that small deeds do make a difference, and that in a way, everyone is saving other peoples worlds every day anew.|
|Type O Negative – Christian Woman Lyrics||13 years ago|
> then dumbed it down and said it all in english when
> people got too lazy to learn latin.
Okay, now this is dumb: At no time more than 1% of the people knew latin. All the time before, nobody but the priest had any idea what was read in church.
|Type O Negative – Wolf Moon Lyrics||13 years ago|
Ah yes, such fun you can have with teenagers. ^^
That's just the tip of the iceberg of what's gross.
|Type O Negative – Green Man Lyrics||13 years ago|
> um... isn't this about a tree?
> cause of the growing in spring, under the hard ground of
> winter adn being a green man, or green plant of some
In a way, yes it is.
"The Green Man" fits it very well, I think. All the names here, but still everyone knows what is reffered to.
Almost all european culture descends from a people that lived in the northeast of the Black Sea and begann to migrate into europe and india about 10.000 years ago. They spread their culture to the local cave men, and that's why we all have the same old gods and very similar languages.
|Type O Negative – In Praise Of Bacchus Lyrics||13 years ago|
|You just have to listen to the song. It sounds completely wasted. ^^|
|Type O Negative – Everything Dies Lyrics||13 years ago|
|The the lyrics are quite gloomy, the song is astonishingly powerful. To me, it makes it not really that fit to represent simply lamentation and mourning.|
|Type O Negative – I Don't Wanna Be Me Lyrics||13 years ago|
|I have to say spades interpretation makes perfectly sense. And also fits the mood of the song. A bit angry, but neither very hatefull or self bemoaning.|
|Wumpscut – Slave To Evil Lyrics||15 years ago|
|This song is just about madness. I think there's no other meaning in it. Not to say it's hollow, excactly the oposite.|
|Wumpscut – Embryodead Lyrics||15 years ago|
|I think this is really easy to read: The moment you're born you've arrived in hell. Better do die before that.|
|Wumpscut – Mother Lyrics||15 years ago|
The lyrics themself don't tell very much, but if you listen to it, it sounds very much like that.
This song is very important to me, because it was one of the very first things a friend showed me of the things in her life and this friendship has changed not me but my lifestyle to something I now feel is exactly that what I truly want.
|Disturbed – Bound Lyrics||15 years ago|
|I'm quite sure "I'm not ready to die" means refusing to change into something "lifeless". It's quite apperent, that it's not about death at all.|
|Apocalyptica – Seemann (English) Lyrics||15 years ago|
It's on the new realease of the Reflections album, played by Apocalyptica with (german) vocals by Nina Hagen.
I don't really get the meaning but thoughts of Hamburg harbour in november come easily into your mind.
|Nightwish – The Carpenter Lyrics||15 years ago|
I think it's about that Jesus did in fact not try to save the world but only to ease the pain while the unavoidable end of everything was coming near.
There is nothing that could be saved.
|Nightwish – 10th Man Down (feat. Tapio Wilska) Lyrics||15 years ago|
|He killed 9 men in war and knows it was wrong. But now he won't continue and flee home, even though he knows everyone will think him a coward, blame him and most probably kill him. But he'll die anyway and does not want to kill another one.|
|Nightwish – The Pharaoh Sails to Orion (feat. Tapio Wilska) Lyrics||15 years ago|
|I think there is a very deep meaning in it that's not that easy to see. I don't know that much about egypt mythology but I think Horus and Seth are the most prominent gods of good and evil. There's probably quite an important meaning behind it, but without knowing more about these backgrunds it's really hard to get.|
|Nightwish – Ocean Soul Lyrics||15 years ago|
There was a women in greek mythology who "went into the sea" as a form of suicide. "Should I dress in white" is about beeing proper closed and for only one time appear the way one truly should: White is the color of innocence, untouched and blank without any taints.
I think it's simply a song about resignation.
|Nightwish – Slaying The Dreamer Lyrics||15 years ago|
|I think this is one song that's very easy to understand. People search for a scapegoat and turn against those, who they owe everything they have.|
|Nightwish – End Of All Hope Lyrics||15 years ago|
It think it's about anger about the way everything changes and refusal to follow these changes.
Maybe this one time he failed, but that's not the end at all. There will be a next try and another one if needed.
It's about refusing to accept a defeat even when things look bad.
|Nightwish – Bless The Child Lyrics||15 years ago|
No, I think it's not about a dying child. It's about someone nearing death, but I think the main meaning is being not accepted.
No that life is almost over, all of a sudden everyone seems to praise the one he had been in life, and he's just losing his last bit of respect for them. Only the childs matter to him and he gives advice to stay true to who they are, because most people are liars.
|Nightwish – She Is My Sin Lyrics||15 years ago|
I think this song can be devided into to parts: All from the beginning, and the last line.
The first part is just discriptive I think and does not tell a story or anything. It's just a description of all those things where your mind says no and your body yells YES!
I think is not about cheating men, but about men who get manipulated by a women, know it, and are unable to resist it.
The last line "God I must confess, I do envy the sinners." means, that sometimes one wishes to just do the wrong thing and not feeling guilty about it. Because the wrong thing will be done for sure.
|Nightwish – Higher Than Hope Lyrics||15 years ago|
You want something more deeper than unavoidable and sure death, that's still days, weeks or even months away?
I think no song could be to deep to be "just" about that.
|Nightwish – Dead Gardens Lyrics||15 years ago|
There's only one remaining, but there's nothing left to do. World is dead and everthing has ended and the last one is damned to stay in this empty place for eternity.
She show is over, the last one switches the light off.
|Nightwish – Planet Hell Lyrics||15 years ago|
It reminds of "Buffy - The Vampire-Slayer"
*spoiler* After Buffy gets raised from death, she's not happy at all. In death she realised that earth IS hell, the most horrible place of all. In another episode Angel want's to get to the leader of the demons and forces one to bring him to hell. After stepping through the portal, he's back exactly at the same place he had been before.
I think it's quite the same in this song.
|Nightwish – The Siren Lyrics||15 years ago|
I think this song was made only for one simple reason: Showing off! ^^
It's amazing, but I think there's not a deeper meaning in it. "We do it, because we can do it!" (And no one else does. ;) )
|Nightwish – Dark Chest Of Wonders Lyrics||15 years ago|
Maybe Peter Pan was the main inspiration to this song, but it's not a song about this story. Some think it silly, but if you listen to more songs of Nightwish, the character of Peter Pan is in fact the one (and only one ever) who did exactly that, what most of their songs want to tell: Don't think rational. Don't think at all. Feel and do what you want to do, not what would be wise to do. If you don't want to become a boring adult (being rational) you don't have to and can remain a playful child (being emotional).
Sorry if this makes you think Nightwish no longer to be cool, but that's the message of about every second song of them and the character of Peter Pan is the perfect image for it.
|Deathstars – Death In Vogue Lyrics||15 years ago|
Hm, is it a song about "untrue" goths? ^^
Maybe, but I think there could be even a deeper and more hidden meaning in it: It could also be a song about not doing what one wants to do but what mainstream dictates, the on thing that the "true" goths despise more than anything else, though many of them seem to do excactly that.
|Deathstars – Virtue To Vice Lyrics||15 years ago|
I think this is quite hard to understand. It's about someone who knows a terrible secret and that things are not the least what they appear to be. But we're not told what it is.
Maybe that's it: There are many things in the world that we have no clue of, that they exist and some of these are horrible things.
|Deathstars – The Last Ammunition Lyrics||15 years ago|
It's about suicide, maybe of a soldier because it's the "last ammunition".
The "Desert Eagle" is in fact a gun.
