The last verses of this song make very apparent for me the distinction between sympathy for what I am hearing and genuine empathy - especially right after "mine." It's chilling.
My not being a Pearl Jam fan notwithstanding, I *feel* his pain; Eddie Vedder nailed it with these lyrics - and most importantly, the delivery of them. Beautiful song. |

I really love this song - it's fantastic! It reminds me so much of being on vacation in Florida, driving along the coast at sunset ... that was the first time I heard this song, and I immediately loved it. |

I don't know why, but this song reminds me of my little dog and I sing it to her sometimes. :)
But seriously, this song is about unrequited (at first!) love; he adores her enough to wait for her to come around. It's beautiful, touching, and so very melodic. |

For years, this song hadn't any effect on me - particularly because I am not a Country fan. But if I think of 9/11 and the husbands and wives who lost their dearest loved ones that day, all I want to do is run to wherever my husband is and embrace him.
