| Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
Jimmy Paige was a follower of Aleister Crowley. The back-mask is unintentional, but if you look at the lyrics closely you can see some connections to LaVeyan satanism.
"Buying the Stairway to Heaven" refers to you having to give up so much to get into heaven, and "when she gets there she knows if the stores are all closed" refers to the bankrupt morals of certain members of the Christian church, and then those same members preach morality.
Research LaVeyan satanism and then listen to the song again. It all does makes sense. |

It's not about autism, usually you can tell if someone has autism when they are quite young, so the lyrics don't fit that.
It could be about Ashberger's Syndrome, an extremely mild version of autism where the person grows up normally, but once they hit puberty they don't really "get" a lot of things, and usually have an strange personality, causing the person to be picked on, thus isolating himself. |

Post-partun depression. There's no real long drawn out explanation. Many women develop a serious depression after they have children. It goes from the dependency of the girl to her mother and then the dependency fro the girl to her first daughter. |

More accurately, post-traumatic stress disorder. Many soldiers come back from wars very paranoid, even stuff like fireworks or loud bangs can make them have a flashback. |

The "Blood red dragon on a field of green" refers to the Welsh flag. The Black Hills refer to the many coal mines in Wales.
I hold this song to my heart because it not only represents where I live, but also my heritage. |

This song appeared on the Not Now John single B-side. Sorry, but that's the only place I think you can listen to it.
It seems like he added a more angsty verse to an already angsty song. It wasn't bad, but Rog could have done better. |

Dave is a metalhead at heart, and this is probably the Foo's hardest song. Great song, on the UK Best of You single. |

the lyrics are awesome, but musically it lacks. The only really powerful part is the ending.
They have an experiment and try to live off the land in the forest for a while, but realize that they won't be able to make it through winter so they split again. |

SAVE THE CHILDREN!!!! Really, this is just a post- Live Aid feed the children song. The music is great, but the words are simple enough. Not a bad song, just cliche. |

Don't think too deeply on this one. What else does Syd write about? Nonsense. The good nonsense. It is funny as hell to me. This is an incredibly funny and simple song. |

I'm not sure about this song. it doesn't have the coolness that their other instrumentals have. I seem to make it halfway thru the song before I say "Meh" and skip to the next one. |

| Pink Floyd – The Fletcher Memorial Home Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
As someone mentioned before The FLETCHER Memorial Home is named after Waters' father, Eric FLETCHER Waters.
since the rest is sort of self-explanitory, I'll do over the second verse:
Ronald Reagan: President of US 1980-1988
Alexander Haig: Secretary of State with Reagan
Menachem Begin: Prime Minister of Isreal 1977-1983
Margaret Thatcher:Prime Minister of UK 1979-1990
Ian Paisley: European Parliament Member 1979-now
Leonid Brezhnev:Communist Leader Russia '64-'82
Joe McCarthy:Senator of Wisconsin 1947-1957
Richard Nixon:President of US 1968-1974
Reagan: Although he did nothing really bad to Britain, he was conservative, which Waters didn't like.
Haig: See Reagan
Begin: He ruled the middle east in Isreal, and led the war against his enemies, taking Beruit in Iran.
Margaret Thatcher: Conservative. Quite conservative
Ian Paisley: Religious fanatic, as well as a conservative. Calling Pope John Paul II the antichrist mainly for being Catholic.
Brezhnev:He's a strong Communist.
McCarthy:Led the war against Communism, accusing people of being communist when they weren't and wanted all of them jailed.
Nixon: One word: WATERGATE. |

The whole first side is about Roger Waters' father, Eric Waters, who died in '44 in WW2. Waters is upset because Britain and the rest of the world wasn't upholding "the post-war dream" which was of "A Brave New World" where we would knock down fascists like Hitler. |

I hear a lot of people bashing The Final Cut. You say it's too depressing, I say it's brilliant. It really shows the desperation of Roger Waters. Even if it is really Waters' solo album, (seeing as none of the other members really did much) it is great. The album shows desperation in its purest form.
This song is sort of like "The Trial" from the Wall. It is the exact oposite of what Waters' actually believes. I love the absolute insanity near the end with the French and all.
And no, inpraiseoffolly, Gilmour never sang leading vocals in the Cut. |

^ get off the hallucinogens
this is about the Berlin Wall. Stop trying to think too deep. If you notice, Gilmour doesn't really have that many "deep" meanings, like Waters did. He thinks on a differen level. It was in '94, so the Berlin Wall wasn't too far off. Also, Waters did a concert on the former Berlin Wall after it came down, so it just might be about that. |

I think the title was some kind of joke, like all of the song titles on the Moneen/AoF Split. If they put it on the next album, they might name it something else.

"The Devil" represents everything that we do bad, buying/doing drugs, or doing a prostitute. When he says he ran into the devil, he's saying that he had the urge to do something bad. 'He took My 20$ Bill" means he bought drugs or bought a hooker with that 20$ |
