yeah this song certainly rocks, my most played SY song on itunes. no idea what it's about of course since it's an SY song but i love the lyrics, very stylised and quotable. the lou reed reference is cool too, transformer is a good album. the outro is brilliant, the 3 guitars working together are great, especially jim's screeching guitar that adds to the chaos (anyone know how to make that noise on a guitar...?) |

wow, can't believe no one has commented on this yet (possibly because it's so hard to interpret?).....great song anyway, probably my favourite off confusion is sex. unfortunately i only have a rough idea on what this song is about, which is basically kim talking about her view of nature in a very abstract way, and that maybe every species just 'stands in columns' to 'make the nature scene'. she also notes that perhaps the most important life skill (unity) isn't taught at school, making school unimportant in her view. |

This song is about loving someone who loves someone else and the futile attempts to ignore them and "try to find someone else". The singer desperately loves her, and feels that she should feel the same way. He is content to just watch her sleep/go to sleep next to her just so he can admire her perfection from a distance. This is the sadest lyric of the whole song, watching someone and wanting to hold them but knowing that you can't have them. The increasing emotion that's put into these lines is sheer brilliance. |

I love this song, it's one of the best off Doolittle in my opinion. Kim Deal sounds so innocent in the backing vocals, like she's apologizing for something ^_< lactosefreeman is right, Francis said "These [verses] are just popular phrases I would associate with having a gun, ‘Looka me’ because it’s a position of power." Simply a cool rock n roll song Francis wrote. |

The first Pixies song I ever heard...I used to think the parking lot lyric was obscure and hilarious. I love the cynicism and sarcasm of the lyrics, especially "you're so PRETTY when you're UNFAITHFUL to me". In my view the song is bascically a sarcastic view of a degraded girl who Francis liked, who he is merely friends with. The first verse talk about how much Carol talks about the guy she likes in front of Francis, and his sarcastic view of her. The parking lot verse refers to how the girl is making an excuse for whatever she did with the guy she likes, and that she didn't have any say in what he did. The last verse I'm not so sure about, it's bascically a sum up of her. What does "I make you break" mean? I think I'm over-analyzing that line. |
