| Stevie Ray Vaughan – Tin Pan Alley Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| a question to all the SRV fans out there. Tin pan alley was a place where a lot of the capitalists and brodway music was produced (i.e. it was a center of where music property rights were advocated for). Do you think he was being sarcastic in saying that it was really tough? Just wondering. | |

Ok guys, If you are going to make a claim, try and back it up with some proof. "Trees" was inspired by the French (Quebec) sepratist movement (the oaks), and English Canada's (mainly corporate Toronto's) reaction (the maples). This is documented in Katherine Charlton's "Rock Music Styles" 4th ed. p. 248 And Neil's re-run intervew on CBC's (I believe it was "The Hour") last September. |

Good point about the zoot suiters Soldier. It all stemmed from war rations acts in (I believe) the first WW. Since it took more fabric to make the baggy suits, there were actually banned. To wear a zoot suit was really sticking it to "the man", hence you see NYC gangsters start to wear them. |

Actually Chief, The song is a dig at the news media. You can check out Alvin Lee's comments on it at his website. He says that the ignorant are the only ones that can make decisions for others. They were English, so the political commentary is marginal for American parties, and although a few posts here have tried to say it is for one party or another, remember it was used for Michael Moore's 911 movie. |
