Tin Pan Alley Lyrics
Went down to Tin Pan Alley, see what was going on
Things was too hot down there, couldn't stay very long
Hey, hey, hey, hey, alley's the roughest place I've ever been
All the people down there, living for their whisky, wine, and gin
I heard a woman scream, yeah and I peeked through the door
Some cat was working on Annie with a, Lord, with a two-by-four!
Hey, hey, hey, hey, alley's the roughest place I've ever been
All the people down there, living for their whisky, wine, and gin
I heard a pistol shoot, yeah and it was a .44
Somebody killed a crap shooter cause he didn't shake, rattle, and roll
Hey, hey, hey, hey, alley's the roughest place I've ever been
All the people down there, killing for their whisky, wine, and gin
I saw a cop standing with his hand on his gun
Said 'This is a raid boys - nobody run'
Hey, hey, hey, alley's the roughest place I've ever been
Yeah, they took me away from tin pan alley
And took me right back to the pen
Things was too hot down there, couldn't stay very long
Hey, hey, hey, hey, alley's the roughest place I've ever been
All the people down there, living for their whisky, wine, and gin
Some cat was working on Annie with a, Lord, with a two-by-four!
Hey, hey, hey, hey, alley's the roughest place I've ever been
All the people down there, living for their whisky, wine, and gin

Hey, hey, hey, hey, alley's the roughest place I've ever been

a question to all the SRV fans out there. Tin pan alley was a place where a lot of the capitalists and brodway music was produced (i.e. it was a center of where music property rights were advocated for). Do you think he was being sarcastic in saying that it was really tough? Just wondering.
great song, amazing sound... stevie's guitar scratches the heart, really makes it skip a beat!
One of my all time favorite songs. The story along with the brilliance of Stevie on his strat is truly amazing. No doubt my favorite guitar player. People that are fans of the blues or people that hate the blues can't deny the talent Stevie possessed.
this song is for sexin, the slow rhythm of this song is perfect for some love makin
