this song is about jewish struggles in in the middle east. matisyahu is was a reformed jew but went back to orthodox roots, hence the outfit. if you listen to the words and understand the middle eastern struggle, it makes sense. its reggae, but i sense a hostile position from matisyahu. read the words, then read about him. its just the conclusion i came up with |

well the thing is that intelligent writing poetry and songs have a concise inspiration but broad meaning. the song means what it means to you, but the inspiration and origin has to be something very specific. i keep thinking about whats a good reason to have ink on your hand? probably beause you wrote down someone's number. last demands = last call at a bar? or if we make it darker...we get a suicide note and of course last demands which would explain why he's staring at the asphalt wondering what's buried underneath. |
