Radiohead – Bloom Lyrics 12 years ago
Its the Universal Sigh. Hence the newspaper that was released on the same day as the album titled 'The Universal Sigh'

Coldplay – Up with the Birds Lyrics 12 years ago
A decent closer. Its an uplifting song that follows Don't Let it Break Your Heart (that song details the breakup fallout). The lyrics are actually lifted from a Leonard Cohen song in places and while it bothers me just a little the amount of 'borrowing' they do on this album this is the successful one. Princess of China and Teardrop failed, but this was pretty beautiful.

Coldplay – Princess of China Lyrics 12 years ago
Honestly this song is garbage. Rihanna sounds out of place here and Chris isn't trying. The lyrics involve too many oh oh oh's and lalala's to count as lyrics. Its bland. The song is about the breakup of the main 2 characters in the story on this concept album, but this is about the biggest travesty of a song they've released so far. I'm all for growth and development, but drowning your music in synth, grabbing someone more popular than you, and adding a bunch of nonsense syllables to fill out gaps is ridiculous. Come on guys, the rest of the album was ok, this was trash. You're better than this Coldplay. You're better than this.

Coldplay – Don't Let It Break Your Heart Lyrics 12 years ago
About two people who left a relationship trying to comfort each other. One left the other to pursue revolution. The male I think. Anyway, they're trying to keep each other from suffering after the breakup. I think they stay apart though, no more relationship for them.

Coldplay – Up in Flames Lyrics 12 years ago
Song about the end of a relationship and the feelings you get from it. Great song, but the electric bass drum kick hurts it. The live version didn't have it and it really helped. On this album I think they threw in electronics in songs like this just to throw them in.

Coldplay – U.F.O. Lyrics 12 years ago
Song about confusion with life. Pretty straightforward. I'll comment further when I finish understanding the story in the concept album.

Coldplay – Us Against the World Lyrics 12 years ago
I think the lyrics are a bit off but the overall meaning has been maintained. Its a gem from the awful music that's been released from this album so far. This song discusses the main characters separation as the male character discusses being left by the female and how no matter what its the two of them against everything.

submissions
Coldplay – Paradise Lyrics 12 years ago
Not bad lyrically other than the frustratingly repetitive chorus but the sound is big and over-produced to me. I love Coldplay dearly but I'm not a worshiper, and they have done nothing to inspire me in this track. The meaning seems to be innocence and loss, seeing as how she lost the world and so she escapes to paradise in her dreams to compensate for the disappointment. Seems to be the female main character in this concept album narrative but overall I dunno about this. Oh, and yes it may tie together but its deuchy to reference your songs in another song. Ugh

Coldplay – Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall Lyrics 12 years ago
The song emphasizes the significance of small things when you're in a certain situation. The male character in the story (lets call him Charlie Brown shall we?) is locked in his room struggling to figure out what he wants to become in life and where he is at the moment. He is looking at things differently. He is in the city and hears every siren as a symphony and views every teardrop as a waterfall.

This is actually kind of a weak single for them. It has a borrowed riff, too repetitive lyrics, and is just a boring gift from them. Kind of like when you're a kid and you get socks for christmas. You know you need it, but its not what you wanted. This U2-esque offering was not enough to quench my thirst for new Coldplay since I love them but don't view them as infallible (anyone remember the simple, boring, stadium-friendly mess that was X&Y?) and along with a second MORE lackluster second single this album is freaking me out a little.

Coldplay – Charlie Brown Lyrics 12 years ago
Since the album is a concept album this would be one of the characters talking about their failed dreams. Since 'Paradise' is about the female character's loss of innocence and disillusionment with the world I would venture a guess that the male character's feeling of failure. Its towards the beginning of the album so setting up would seem right since its a story.

Coldplay – Hurts Like Heaven Lyrics 12 years ago
Gave the live version of this a listen. Its definitely better than Paradise and Every Teardrop is a Waterfall but overall I'm still not excited about this album anymore. They've left behind any artistic sensibilities and have gone into poppy high selling music that is mindless, repetitive, and easy to sing in the car lyrics that don't inspire anything but shallow, mindless feelings. Admittedly Major Minus was a good song, and I'm expecting a lot from the rest of the album after two phenomenal good albums and the fun and interesting "Viva" but I'm worried. Hurts Like Heaven is part one of the story on this concept album and so far its incoherent and frustrating. They haven't written anything this bouncy and poppy before and while I'm up for a new coldplay this is decisively NOT something I want from them

Coldplay – Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall Lyrics 12 years ago
This depresses me. I love Coldplay and always have but I'm willing to point out their mistakes. X&Y was too stadium. Granted we got some really good tracks out of it but as a whole just ugh. Now after the majesty and intelligence of Viva la Vida we're given this offering. On first listen my first thought was "I've been tricked, I bought the single but its just a dumb U2 song" but then Chris kicked in. Usually he's the main focus of their music and its exciting but he did nothing impressive. It was pop/singrap. I was disappointed, but then I started listening. And an amazing thing happened...

I was devastated.

Never before have I been so bothered by Coldplay lyrics. They've been sappy and a tad boring before, but this just took it and ran with it. It was semi-decent after about 30 listens but at its core its barely tolerable. Its a dance song after we were promised a stripped down acoustic sound. This pop nonsense is detestable after the artistic growth they saw in the last album. I'm not one of those who thinks they will always be like they were on the first two albums, and I'm ok with change. This isn't change, this is conformity. The news that they are including Rhianna on the album just furthers my thinking as last time they did a poor collaboration with Jay-Z it was a b-side that we all kind of chuckled at but now its a main track. I hope it turns out well, I really do, but this is annoying and the new single Paradise is boring in its repetition and underwhelming in its delusions of grandeur. Also, the songs released from this album so far all kind of wink at each other lyrically, and it seems pretentious. I get that you want to write a concept album boys, but it can be done without the gimmicks and mimickry and pop sensibilities. Its not artistic, its conformity.

Its about the White Rose movement in Nazi Germany. Look it up, it was said by Chris himself.

Breaking Benjamin – Hopeless Lyrics 13 years ago
Honestly it weirds me out that no one has mentioned thus far that Jasen Rauch from the band RED wrote 4 songs on this album. This was one of them, and they all have a religious feel due to the fact that while they are mainstream rockers, RED is a christian band and show that in their lyrics. It shone through on this album in the song "Without You" the most but you can see a desperation in this song to. Just thought I'd bring that up...

My Chemical Romance – Vampire Money Lyrics 13 years ago
Ok just so you guys know this is the one song that has nothing to do with the rest of the album. Its about the band being asked to do a song for one of the Twilight film soundtracks and how they thought it was pathetic that good musicians were selling out to these awful films. Hence the reason they make fun of the vampires sparkling like Bowie and such. Its actually kind of a funny song, I love it. Oh, and in case you don't believe me the line "Gimmie gimmie some of that vampire money c'mon!" should do it for ya.

Linkin Park – Waiting For The End Lyrics 13 years ago
ok not to demean any other comments but no one's hit what this song is about. This one and when they come for me are about giving up their old sound for this new idea. Its very different but if you contrast it to when they come for me you see that while that song is slapping fans who want the old style back this one is promoting the idea that while it was fun they just aren't that band anymore. They tried on the last album and were 'holding onto what they haven't got.' the fire's gone so they're moving on.

Chevelle – Jars Lyrics 13 years ago
Its a mockery. Whoever said it was about saving the earth in little jars was right, but its done in mockery of the 'save the earth' movement. Same concept as Muse's 'Supermassive Black Hole'

The Veils – The Nowhere Man Lyrics 13 years ago
Actually the song is taken in parts from the novel "The Horse and His Boy" by C.S.Lewis. Parts of it were incorporated into the song. Its a wonderful song having said that and I love the hell outta it.

Placebo – Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush cover) Lyrics 14 years ago
The original song by Kate Bush was about female empowerment. She herself claimed that she wrote the song as a statement to men about how it would go if men and women's social positions were switched. The placebo version, however, changed the meaning I think. When he sings it for one thing its a HE singing and for another it feels like its about someone who's dying and the singer is trying to convince God to switch their fates.

Muse – Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1 (Overture) Lyrics 14 years ago
Due to the fact that the next couple parts of this symphony state that at least one man has left earth I have to say that this is about the end of the world and the attempt to get to a new home. In fact the entire album can be viewed as a war between the heroic resistance and the government that results in total destruction. Just a thought.

submissions
Chevelle – Leto's Headache Lyrics 14 years ago
Leto is a character from the DUNE book series. If I'm reading the song right, it refers to Leto Atreides II, who becomes god-like and enters a 3000 year life in "God Emperor of Dune" where he is pregognicient to everything. He has a master plan to save humanity from itself, but he can't stand what he has to become to save them and he can stand being everywhere and nowhere. The song is about how this all makes him feel.

Green Day – Restless Heart Syndrome Lyrics 15 years ago
Ok in as far as storyline goes this song is Gloria responding to Christian's mockery and anger from 'Little Girl' and stating that everyone is their own worst enemy.

submissions
Green Day – Peacemaker Lyrics 15 years ago
I actually see it as almost a threat. They're threatening to kill 'the girl at the end of the serenade' so it almost feels as though the one they really feel threatened by is Christian and they're threatening to kill Gloria as almost a way of stopping him from his revolution.

Green Day – See the Light Lyrics 15 years ago
It almost seems like Christian took his shot at taking down the 'liars' but missed and now he's waiting for another chance.

I crossed the desert
Reaching higher ground
Then I pound the pavement
To take the liars down
But its gone forever
But never too late
Where the ever after
Is in the hands of fate

Green Day – Viva la Gloria! Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm seeing it as a manipulation of Gloria. He meets her and uses their 'undying love' to recruit her. She actually loves him, and I would think that he loves her to, but he needs her stability and her ability to cope with the world that he can't to keep him focused on his goal. Great song.

submissions
Green Day – Murder City Lyrics 15 years ago
From Gloria's point of view, kind of a song about regretting her love for Christian but acknowledging that she does love him and is still salvagable as a person, even in the Murder City. After all, the first step on the road to recovery is admitting you have a problem...

Green Day – East Jesus Nowhere Lyrics 15 years ago
Has anyone considered the fact that they may be blaming the war in Iraq on religion? I know that this album has at least a few stabs in the political direction because of 21 Guns (if anyone sees anything but a call to end war in that song then you should probably take another listen). It just seems that since America stands United under Christianity (yes, we have religious freedom, but 'IN GOD WE TRUST') and since the terrorist attacks were done under a Muslim extremist influence that maybe he just blames religion in general. Not saying that's what its about, just a possibility.

Green Day – Last Night on Earth Lyrics 15 years ago
Has a very Lennon-esque feel to it. Seems to be Christian's recovery from his angry breakdown in Christian's Inferno. The only line I don't like is the first one. Kinda cheesy, but I guess that's what the kids are into these days.

Green Day – Christian's Inferno Lyrics 15 years ago
Haha the rejection letter almost makes me think he was rejected in an application for a Catholic school because of his rebellious nature hahaha. Actually when I first heard that opening line I though it was about getting rejected by everyone. Its religion, school, family, friends, everyone but Gloria.

Green Day – 21 Guns Lyrics 15 years ago
Billie Joe came out and said that it was an anti-war song. Its about begging America to just give up. Good tune and sound (though kinda similar to Wake Me Up When September Ends) but its just too whiny for me. Green Day still whines about Bush for crying out loud, and he's out of office. There are good songs on this one, but asking us as a country to just woos out and give up makes this one of my least favorite songs on the new album.

Green Day – Horseshoes and Handgrenades Lyrics 15 years ago
It just seem's like the classic F U style of some of Green Day's older lyrics but with a bite to it that progresses the window. Its obviously the character Christian or the narrator singing, and I would see it as more of Christian since it fights against Gloria. I don't know, this album was more a window into the lives of the two people than a story so its hard to tell but I like the anger.

They released a statement from Nicholls that this si actually a sequal to the song Vision Valley. Since that song is about daydreaming, I wonder if this is the daydream. Trippy, huh?

The Vines – Vision Valley Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the song is simply about an evening when one is sitting outside daydreaming. If you read it he seems fading into daydreams in the middle of the song actually.

Metallica – The Unforgiven III Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm expecting this to be a single. I see the Unforgiven's as an epic. The first one is about the beginning of a man's life. He's used, abused, and dropped by all others. He ages mentally beyond his years and regrets most of his life. Then in the second movement someone comes. "She loves me not, she loves me still, but she'll never love again." It sounds like he hurt her deeply. The whole song seems like he took her in, used her like the world used him, buried the key in her, and then left her. He made her unforgiven as well. Then in the final movement he accepts the consequences. He realizes that its no ones fault but his own and that in the end the only one who is unforgivable is himself. Really epic work of art. I hope the video for this one matches the first 2 because they were fantastic.

Three Days Grace – Gone Forever Lyrics 15 years ago
This song hits home more than most of the album. This one and Over and Over kind of hit me in a personal spot. Just...some recent stuff in my life that makes these 2 of my favorite songs. Pretty self explanitory meanings. Love, hate, regret, and pure rage seem to be the theme on both of them.

Linkin Park – QWERTY Lyrics 16 years ago
The entire meaning of the song can be found inthe bridge. Faking, mistaken if you think that you can crawl out of this hole? The subject has obviously lied to the rhetor and apparently many others and has pushed them all away to the point of no return. Heckuva good song.

Seether – 69 Tea Lyrics 17 years ago
The song relates to a man who's slowly losing his sanity, and believes himself trapped for life. He's on pills and asking everyone for help, even Jesus. It seems that he would rather Jesus help him in the here and now instead of in the long run, hence the "Get off that cross" line. He tells every one to stop saying the pills that seem to be so popular for people with his condition to screw themselves because he doesn't care. This song seems to be a counterpart to the song Fine Again. I think they go together.

Fall Out Boy – A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More "Touch Me" Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is simply about a boy who had many, many shots with a girl, and has resorted to sleeping on her parents porch trying to get her back and she is sick of him. She's this way because everytime she puts herself our there she ends up hurt because he doesn't notice till its too late. They may even be friends as hinted in the chorus, and that's why he missed the signs.

Revalation seems to have the point of the song down pretty good. The instrumentals on this song are pretty kick-ass to. The mix of distortion and acoustics really catches you. Really powerful vocals. and the line 'Poor is the man/that believes his own lies' is the best. Best song on the album.
