| Sparta – Taking Back Control Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's probably not right, but I like to think this song is about Jim Ward telling Cedric and Omar that they may have been more popular and generally considered a better band until now, but Jim thinks that with this record and hereafter, Sparta will prove to be the better band. | |
| AFI – Third Season Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I like to think this song is like a warning for the transition they're about to go through. Their first two CDs were very punk rock, this album has less of that, and is the start of the change. The change ends at Black Sails in the Sunset, where they become much more intricate and dark. | |

I got the lyrics fixed I think. I hope everyone approves. Anyway, this is probably my favorite Thursday song. |

| Straylight Run – Hands in the Sky (Big Shot) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Tear it out of these open pages Women and kids of all ages Millions of men with blank faces Italicized lies, headlines bold type ---Everyone buys in to the lies. It doesn't matter where specifically they come from, they surround us. Media, White House, whatever. They want to catch your attention. Living lives just like deer in headlights Terrified, blind, and wait to die I wonder when they'll come get me I wonder when they'll come get me ---Terrorism is working because it's scaring almost the entire population in some way. The White House only enhances the fear with BS like the color terror alert system. We want you, have to, need you and We'll tell you when they're hungry again We'll tell you when they're hungry again It never ends, never ends ---Pretty self-explanatory. Reinforces the point that they NEED you to buy in. Big shot screaming put your hands in the sky He says "Give it up boy, give it up or you're gonna die You'll get a bullet in the back of the neck In the back of the neck Right between the eyes ---This is what happens when you try to not buy in. It doesn't matter. You're going to fail, and you're going to be made a fool by "the big shots." ---As for the video, I love it. The aquarium thing I think shows their isolation as the ones who don't buy in to the corporate and governmental lies. The creatures, particularly how they look adorable and you don't see your face until half-way through, represent the America that you are supposed to become a part of. Greed, greed, greed. It doesn't appear that way at first, that's why all the kids have no problem holding hands and such with them. By the time you notice how horrific this reality (these creautures) are, it's too late to do anything about it. The fact they destroy everything further shows how desparate they are for everything to go their way. |

| Story of the Year – Anthem Of Our Dying Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I really relate to this song. The first verse- "The stars will cry the blackest tears tonight, and this is the moment that i live for," I feel alone extremely often and when it's late at night and I'm outside, it's one of the few times I feel content about it. "i can smell the ocean air. Here i am pouring my heart on to these roof tops, just a ghost, to the world. That's exactly, exactly what i need." Sometimes late, I go out for walks to the beach, and I'll take pictures or I'll just think, or I'll scream. Any of these ways, it never feels like anyone gives a shit about how desperate I feel. As sad as it is, it helps me. That's why I love this song. |
