I think this song is about a girl who's moving too quickly through life and relationships, and how she's going to regret it later. For example,"Cause she uses boys like bandages, but the wounds remain the same, and I hope you find it through this endless wandering." I think Stephan's message to whoever this girl is, is that if she keeps speeding through life with this nonchalant, pointless living then when death comes, she's going to regret it. I think he highlights this throughout the rest of the song in the metaphor of a plane crash, specifically this verse: Some people scream, some people are gracious And the reason's the same Cause the sky outside Is so spacious, it's so spacious Basically, I interepreted this as, there's two ways of living life: living in to the fullest, appreciating it, and fulfilling all of the opportunities (such as love, which is what I think this song is referring to), or you could live life "wandering" through without a care and passing up opportunities (such as love). I think Stephan's message through the plane crash is, especially through this line, is that when you die you're either going to be upset ("some people scream") or you're going to happy ("some people are gracious") because of the way you lived life (spacious sky.. representing life's opportunities). |

I think the song is more about drugs than about his friends. I believe that he wants to stop doing drugs, but having the friends that he's had all his life is a crucial factor that's preventing him from doing so. I think that saying he's going around around and not finding any truth refers to this. Also, with lines like, "i wanna stop it. but it's the only life i know how to live" and "my brother, pour me one more yeah tonight brother pour me one yeah tonight i’ll just cut you one more" |

| I personally think that this "she" that Stephan's talking about it is America, and I think he's talking about how America's changed and doesn't say what it means for fear of its global repercussions, when it was its outspoken people with the desire to not be tamed that originally won us the freedom to be Americans in the first place. I love Third Eye Blind, one of my favorite bands, got a tattoo of "deeper than bones" on my shoulder. I'm so glad they're back. | |

the name of the song's called "make it better," not "we can make it better." i've loved this song and this band for years, who woulda thought something like this could've come from YARDLEY, haha. but yeah, this song is, in my opinion, is about trying to reconcile with a parent who they either never spent time with as a child, or just doesn't get along with them. regardless, i don't this parent wants him to make music for a living. here, i'll prove my point. This is a great song, and a great cd. Well, to actually give some meaning to this song, I think the overall song is about losing feelings for a girl. They use a lot of sea metaphors that you can easily decipher, for example: It's too late, it's too late I think the tide has come to wash you out Wash you away from here ^ It's too late to go back and change things, he lost feelings for her, and you can't stop the tide from coming, it's gonna come and it'll wash away whatever's in its path. Wow, fuck you all. Seriously. A good song is a good fucking song. A good album is a good fucking album. And a band is a good fucking band. They changed their sound? Fucking oh well? They're supposed to do something different, what's the point of being a band and producing the same fucking album over and over and giving the SAME EXACT TYPE OF ALBUM every other year? That'd be cheating their fans. And to be honest, they don't soudn that much different. And this song is just great, I love William Beckett's part, and the song in general. It sums up band life pretty well, and Travis never ceases to write witty sarcastic lyrics.
