Need to Love Lyrics

Northbound train on a Saturday
Here I come, New York City
And deep in thought, on a little sleep
Distance took my love away
Do you need to love?
Do you need to love?
Do you need to love someone?

I stare at strangers subtly
Reading and softly speaking
When Princeton's boards, one sits by me
Sir, can I ask you something?

Do you need to love?
Do you need to love?
Do you need to love someone?
Oh, do you need
(Oh, do you need)
Oh, do you need
(Oh, do you need)
Do you need
Do you need someone?

Sometimes when there is no one
To love you back all the time
When you're in need
And desperate to fall asleep
Ain't it wild?
Oh, aren't you tired?
Oh, isn't it making you lose your mind?

Do you need to love?
Do you need to love?
Do you need to love?

Do you need to love?
Cause I think I need to love
Do you need to love someone?
Oh, sometimes
Oh, do you need
(Oh, do you need)
Oh, do you need
(Oh, do you need)
Do you need
(Do you need)
Do you need to love?
Do you need to love?
Do you need to love?
Do you need to love someone?

"I stare at strangers subtly Reading and softly speaking When Princeton's boards, one sits by me Sir, can I ask you something?"

i believe kenny wrote this part to stress that he needed this question to be answered, and a Princeston student sits by him it hints at maybe he's asking someone smarter than himself in hopes that they could figure something out that has plagued him for so long. But if you notice he never answers the question or the narrator because its something he must figure out on his own.

"DISTANCE took my love away." "When Princeton boards (??)" also, it sounds like he's saying: "well in a while, aren't you tired?"

i love this song.

I think I'm hearing "When Princeton boards, one sits by me" & "Ain't it wild? Though aren't you tired?"

Anyway, I adore this song. One of my favorites off the new cd. I think it's questioning everyone's idea that they can't live unless they're in a relationship & that they're worthless unless they're in love.

This is my favorite song by The Starting Line. I'm surprised there aren't more comments. I think to some degree this rings true for us all. A person can have all the friends in the world, but if they have no one that loves them on that higher level, I think you can be the loneliest person in the world.

I love this verse: Sometimes when there is no one To love you back all the time When you're in need And desperate to fall asleep Ain't it wild? Oh, aren't you tired? Oh, isn't it making you lose your mind? Because it is so true. When you are going through a rough patch, all your troubles seem to plague you when you are trying to sleep (which consequently compound your problems, because you aren't getting enough sleep on top of everything else), but you just keep thinking of how it seems everyone else has someone except you and you are alone. Sometimes it is worse when you are thinking about the people you missed your opportunity with or had in the past. A very simple, yet nice song.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Such an intelligent, thought...
