This song is about how we change how we feel about life and continue to live in regret on things we should or shouldn't have done.
Flying home and seeing the sun set shows how each day comes and goes and how much we do throughout life, as if taking it for granted. Josh also seems to point out that we are constantly evaluating ourselves, and monitoring what we are doing instead of sitting back and enjoying life, since it is not a permanent thing. Every one of us will have the final year where the new year will not come. The answer may be, as he says, not to measure success through money or status, but to be kind to your fellow man, after all that is all that really matters and it is something our world lacks. |

He's probably written this song when he's been lonely on the road. He talks about having the camera out at arms length, taking photos of himself, symbolising being somewhere worth documenting, viz., away from home...but he'd rather be just with his woman battling through everyday life, or things to get done. The lighthouse is somewhere they can be isolated away from everything, and it is a place you can not leave. |

Pykey seems to show a vulnerable side in this song. I reckon he's saying that he believes our lives aren't already made, but we must make them ourselves through chance and choice. And despite feeling weak and unconfident sometimes he knows he has to make the move himself, in this case for a woman, or he won't get anywhere. |

Pretty much this song is about a girl who is lying to the guy who wrote this, in my opinion stringing him along and making him think there could be more between them than their actually is. The guy has a feeling this is the case, and he wants her to end the games..but deep down he still wants her. The sharper words from trusted friends bit refers to the "sharper" truth that he wants them to reveal to him. The good burns bit means that he's learnt that being unfair to one person means that he will eventually do it to someone else. |
