Jonas Brothers – What I Go To School For Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow, this sucks. Can't they write anything on their own? I wrote my own lyrics to the original when I was 14, and they worked better :/

Busted rocked.

Jonas Brothers – Year 3000 Lyrics 17 years ago
Oh my god, they killed it.

The Busted version was not disgusting, it was cheeky and fun. This...is kiddified. The edited lyrics sound very, very out of place. Plus, from Michael Jackson to Kelly Clarkson? That sucks by itself.

Death Cab for Cutie – What Sarah Said Lyrics 17 years ago
I can't listen to this song with people around, I always end up crying. I tend to lose it somewhere around the second verse, although the whole thing sends me weepy sometimes.

If this is fictional the writer is very talented, because it's all exactly what my family's been going through lately. The last month or so has been a series of prayers for one family member to reach the next small milestone, then the next, then the next.

And to think I only took an interest in this because my name's in the title.

Gorillaz – DARE Lyrics 17 years ago
I have no idea what the meaning could be. All I know is it makes me want to dance like Noodle :D

Also, the bit at the end with Murdoc makes me giggle.

Rogue Traders – Voodoo Child Lyrics 18 years ago
So basically we've established that Neighbours is to blame for a lot of average-to-awful music? This one's good though. It's fun to listen to =]

Johnny Cash – We'll Meet Again Lyrics 18 years ago
This brings back memories :)

When I was at primary school, each summer we had a concert to say goodbye to the older kids. This would be one of the songs we'd all end up singing...even if we didn't really know the words. 'Folks' usually ended up being 'Frogs' :)

It's about somebody leaving. They could be dying, or just going away. They'll be missed, and they'll miss you, but both of you need to keep smiling cos you'll be there too as soon as you can - or in the case of dying, you'll be there eventually no matter what.

The Ames Brothers – The Naughty Lady Of Shady Lane Lyrics 18 years ago
What, no comments? =D
Used to listen to this when my nan picked me up from school. She had it in the car, by the end of the year I knew it by heart.
Clever use of double meanings here. Making a baby girl sound like a much older girl who was the source of gossip for most of a neighbourhood :D

Frank Sinatra – My Way Lyrics 18 years ago
The meaning's already been stated by several people, so I'll just stick to saying it's an amazing song and it reminds me of my grandad. He's 81 and has lived his entire life his way and nobody else's, no matter what anyone' s had to say about it.
Oh, and my friend does a kickass cover of it, his version is my second favourite one (this being first). I do hate the fact that it's been murdered for a Creme Egg advert on TV though :(

Maroon 5 – Can't Stop Lyrics 18 years ago
This was me the first time I heard this:
*pause song*
*blink*
*rewind to check I'd heard right*
Still, this is an ACE song, however unsubtle it might be.
...And isn't the line 'thoughts of you tattooed on my mind' in one of their other songs, off the first album?

submissions
Amy Studt – Paper Made Man Lyrics 18 years ago
She made a Voodoo doll of a guy who was a crappy boyfriend to her. Maybe he taught her how in the first place. That'd explain the 'that Voodoo you do, comes back threefold on you' line, since it'd be something he did coming back to kick him in the ass.

I'm SO glad Amy's back! Her first album pretty much made my high school life bearable, and I was so annoyed when she got dropped by her label.

submissions
Fiona Apple – Sally's Song Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is better than the original by a long way :) It just suits her voice really well, and she manages to get across the feelings in the song.

Plus I can sing to this version and not be as horribly out of tune as I am to the original ^^

Definitely the best of the 3D covers, although Marilyn Manson's This Is Halloween was pretty impressive too.

Colin Hay – Overkill Lyrics 18 years ago
This song's great. I spent most of last night wandering around singing it, then this morning I put Scrubs on, and guess what? My Overkill. This really was perfect for that episode :)

The Who – A Man in a Purple Dress Lyrics 18 years ago
Went to see The Who last night and got a bit confused by this one. I've never heard this song before and the only words I could make out properly were 'man in a purple dress' so I decided to track the lyrics down.
It makes sense now :) Definitely condemning the pope.

Gackt – To Feel The Fire Lyrics 18 years ago
Should I be worried that I understood this the first time I heard it? Because I go my friend to listen to it and she asked what language it was in...
Love the lines 'And if you look into my eyes and you told yourself the truth, You can't make a body hot if you don't light the fuse' and yes, his version of English is very cute :)

submissions
Gackt – Vanilla Lyrics 18 years ago
The song is one of the catchiest songs I've ever heard! I've been singing it on and off for months now and I still aren't sick of it. I think it's hilarious that I can sing it and only one other person actually has any idea of how perverted it is :)

I just watched a live version and I think I looked like O_O. Fanservice much?

The Beautiful South – A Little Time Lyrics 18 years ago
He's messing her around, saying he 'needs time' to think and all that, she's getting annoyed with him. I think he maybe had an affair? The lines 'a little space for a thousand beds' and 'you had a little fun' make me think that.
So by the time he's realised that, y'know, he *does* still want her, she's decided she wants rid of him. Reminds me of my parents a bit :)

McFly – Walk In The Sun Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this one - my favourite songs always seem to be the ones with just Danny singing. His voice is...great.
Beautiful lyrics.

Sitting here watching the world going by
Is it true when we die we go up to the sky
Whoa
Whoa
So many things that I don't understand
Burnt feet in the sand when I'm walking in the sun
Whoa
Walking in the sun'

That's my favourite bit.

Something Corporate – Babies Of The 80's Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a fun song :)

Technically, I was a baby of the 80's...but only by six weeks. And I'm in Britain so a lot of this doesn't apply to me. But the early 90s were a lot like the 80s here so I didn't seem to miss much. This still reminds me of things.

Oh, eddo? I've seen that Alvin episode about the Berlin Wall, and you don't get much more of a late 80s kid than someone born in mid-November. Just saying :)

The Kinks – Lola Lyrics 19 years ago
I just heard this as a cover - not mentioning who covered it cos I'll get ripped to pieces - and I was wondering right from Soho being mentioned (London's Soho is infamous for being odd) about if Lola was actually a girl. I giggled, because that's just how immature I am.

Great song, anyway. Clever at the end, with 'I'm glad I'm a man and so is Lola.' Lola's glad he's male, or Lola's a guy too? Depends on the way your mind works, I think. Awesome song.

Katie Melua – Shy Boy Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah, shy boys are great, way better than loud and overconfident ones. If you're with a boy who's shy, at least you know he likes you enough to have found the nerve to ask you out, rather than a loud guy who is probably more likely to dump you for a random other girl.

That's me speaking as a shy girl, though. :)

My Chemical Romance – The End. Lyrics 19 years ago
Sorry, but since when was being a 'true fan' only liking a band when they're 'good'? Every band has a crappy song or album eventually, and it's the true fans who stick with them despite it! MCR have not sold out. They might eventually, but it hasn't hapened yet and from what I know of the guys, it won't be anytime soon. Just because they've gotten wellknown doesn't mean they sold out.

I know it's kind of annoying how some people just suddenly love the band yet only know Welcome To The Black Parade, but it's not hurting you is it? It just makes them look stupid. Point and laugh, if you must. Just leave the band alone, it's not their fault some fans are thick.

Anyway, rant over. I love this song, and I think I annoyed my friends when I kept singing the first few lines over and over again. :)

Gackt – Redemption Lyrics 19 years ago
This is great! It's also the first Gackt song I heard, so this is to blame for me getting slightly obsessed. Redemption's definitely appropriate for Vincent Valentine...

The Calling – Somebody Out There Lyrics 19 years ago
Up til recently, I thought this was about a kid who's having a really rough time - being abused never occured to me, but I guess that fits - and is starting wonder what she did to deserve it and if anyone'll help her. And it's affecting how she thinks about other people too - the questioning why people have to die bit.

It could also be someone thinking about religion - probably because something bad's happened and they've lost faith. They wonder if there is a god, and if there is, why's he so useless when it comes to helping them? They sort of alternate between believing and not believing, and they really want to believe all the time so they can just not worry about it or be afraid anymore.

Awesome song! If it's true about one of the songwriters being abused when they were younger, that's really sad, too.

Fall Out Boy – What's This? Lyrics 19 years ago
I really can't stand Fallout Boy, but even I have to admit that this is good. However bad I think they are, they DO have a talent for getting songs stuck in my head - Dance Dance was there weeks, this one for over a month now.

Freefaller – do this do that Lyrics 19 years ago

The Noise Next Door – Ministry of Mayhem Lyrics 19 years ago
Well... It's either they were on something when they wrote it, or this is an attempt at making the theme tune to bad Saturday morning kid's tv (Ministry of Mayhem...God how I hated that show.) 'rock'. I blame Busted.

The Calling – Adrienne Lyrics 19 years ago
*grins* Reminds me of my friend Adrian. He's so getting this sung at him on Monday.

It's about a breakup, and he's realising that she was nowhere near good enough for him. She used him and cheated on him, even though (by the sounds of it) he was a pretty good boyfriend. He sees her with other guys, and he knows that she'll do it again to them, so he's better off without her.

*hearts Alex's voice* He's one of the best singers I've heard.

The Calling – Stigmatized Lyrics 19 years ago
It's about two people who love each other, even though everyone else thinks they shouldn't. If they get together, other people think it's strange or even wrong. But they don't care how much crap they get put through, as long as they still have each other.

I love this song. It's amazing how emotional and romantic it is.

Bullet for My Valentine – Hit the Floor Lyrics 19 years ago
Wow this is a creepy song. I still love it, but it freaks me out. My friend says it's got a stalker vibe to it. Should I be worried that it's my favourite Bullet song?

He's either raping or murdering a girl he's been involved with. She treated him bad, but he couldn't end it - hell, he liked it. This is a sort-of revenge after she broke it off with him or did something he considered unforgiveable, and there's a part of him that kinda can't believe he's doing this ('I never thought that this is how I'd hit the floor').

Sandi Thom – I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) Lyrics 19 years ago
*agrees with Dimaggio23* FINALLY, someone who has more to say than how much the song sucks/is contradictory.

It's about thinking the world/music was better back then, before everything got commercialised, and wishing that there was something similar around now. It's a shame there isn't.

My Chemical Romance – Cancer Lyrics 19 years ago
I haven't heard this one properly yet (I've got a live version, but it's pretty crappy). When I do hear it, I just *know* I'm gonna cry. My grandma has cancer, so this is painful. Knowing she's probably thought most of this at some point in the last year....

The lines that really get me are "bury me in all my favourite colours" "Know that I will never marry" and of course, "the hardest part of death is leaving you."

Pink – Family Portrait Lyrics 19 years ago
This always makes me cry. It came out right around when my parents split up. Up till then I HAD been living in WW3. The bit at the end, where she's promising all those things to try getting her dad to stay, that's powerful. When parents divorce or break up, the kid blames themself. I know I did. My mum hates this song, she says it hits a little too close to home.
She's singing about wanting everything to go back to how it used to be, so they at least LOOK like a happy family. She hates the fighting and wants to get away, but she has to go home and listen to it all. She's willing to do anything, even the impossible ("I'll stay your little girl forever") if it means evrything can stay normal.
And this is why Pink is amazing.

Linkin Park – Numb/Encore Lyrics 19 years ago
I love LP, and I liked the original Numb. This...I really don't like. Whether it's to do with it being majorly overplayed here or me hating Jay-Z, I don't know. I liked Numb because everyone could relate to it. Who hasn't felt like that? But Jay-Z made this about himself, and and I don't like that. Plus, as a rule, I dislike rap. The only rap artists I like are Eminem and Mike Shinoda.
Eh...I suppose it's a matter of opinion whether this is good or not, but to me, this isn't.

Pink – Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's about being in a relationship with someone, and it's serious, but she still wants her own space and her guy's getting a bit too into the whole 'together forever' thing. If he's around all the time she'll get sick of him, but if he stays away she'll miss him.

Blink-182 – Go Lyrics 19 years ago
I love this song. It's obvious what it's about - and if Mark really was in a postion like this, I sympathise with him cuz it's happened to me. Third and fourth lines make me want to cry - I'm such a dork. Same with the second verse. Third verse, I know what it's like to be that angry about something and at someone. If this isn't about something that actually happened to one of the guys, they've done an amazing job of imagining what it's like and getting all the emotion into the lyrics.
The I don't wanna know part... You have to join in. Same with the GO lines. I've gotten a few funny looks off my brother for suddenly shouting "I don't wanna know!" when I have my headphones on.

Hm... It works with the tune still, but I tried translating the French and it was only partly like this version. Guess it wouldn't fit the tune if it was translated literally.

My Chemical Romance – Cementery Drive (Hidden Message) Lyrics 19 years ago
Just nearly deafened myself listening for these. And when I DID hear them it scared me. It was just the normal lyrics, then suddenly "Do you care at all?"
I HAD heard some of it before - the bits that are the ends of lines in the actual song - but I just thought they were backing vocals. Cool.

Something Corporate – Forget December Lyrics 19 years ago
I think everyone who has had a crappy Christmas can relate to this. And let's face it, everything tends to go wrong that time of year. Getting dumped, family arguments, getting bad news... In my case a friend getting *really* ill last year, finding out my grandma had cancer the year before, and my dad leaving when I was ten. Yeah... December sucks.
I think the song's about family who don't get along trying to act 'normal' just because it's Christmas and they think they should, and the songwriter knows it's all a waste of time since they'll go back to what they were like the second the holiday's over. I think he's trying to say that yeah, it's a holy day, but people shouldn't really act any different to each other (like...nicer) purely BECAUSE it's Christmas.
I love SoCo, and I'm getting North later this week so WHOOO!

McFly – Please, Please Lyrics 19 years ago
Is this a one-off song, or is the next album going to be like this? If it is, I'm happy - Wonderland sucked. This is way better.
I think the song's fairly obvious so I have nothing to say, but I could've sworn the girl's name was Lucy, not Lindsay.

Amy Studt – Just A Little Girl Lyrics 19 years ago
YoungxForxEternity, she got dropped by her record label about three years ago. It's a shame, I thought she was really good.
I like this song, and I think every teenage girl can relate to it. Who hasn't liked an older guy who thinks he's so much better just because he's older? Most of Amy Studt's songs are like that, everyone has felt that way at some point.

Kelly Rowland – Stole Lyrics 19 years ago
Going by the video, I always thought the smart kid killed himself, Mary found him then later found out she was pregnant, and that Greg was killed in a gang war kind of thing. But the lyrics seem to be about a school shooting, Mary and Greg were killed, and the smart kid ended up in prison.
I think maybe, when the video was made, they thought it wasn't a good idea to portray a guy shooting his classmates (possibly because of the Columbine thing - don't know much about that, being on a different continent and pretty young when it happened) so they changed a few things. Thus confusing everyone who watched the video and payed attention to the lyrics.
Really sad song, and I don't normally like this kind of music, but I love this song.

My Chemical Romance – Skylines And Turnstiles Lyrics 20 years ago
I worked out the 9/11 thing a few months ago, when I was reading a thing in a magazine about mcr. It said something about 9/11 being one of the reasons G. started the band - he wanted to find a bunch of guys who'd speak to people. And I started thinking "that fits with this song..."
"This broken city sky" - the skyline seemed 'broken' without the towers, for a while. And still does, to some people.
"You're not in this alone" - Not the only one who was horrified by what happened.
"And in this moment we can't close the lids on burning eyes" - When you were watching it, you couldn't look away, even though you wanted to.
"Our memories blanket us" - You couldn't help but panic about your friends & family, thinking "what if they were there?" even if you KNEW they weren't.
I love this song. It's my favourite on the Bullets album.
