Crass were the masters of punk, they lived the true meaning of punk, and put out some kick ass anthems in the process. Both the Clash and the Pistols were signed to major record labels (whereas punk would be DIY) and reduced the punk 'movement' to something you could find in every mall hot topic around nowadays.... I cannot deny however.. London Calling blew me away... whenever I listen to "Death or Glory" I just can't help but think Joe is singing about himself in the second verse.
More on subject, I don't really like this song, Chris sounds like Fat Mike in this song.. Fat Mike is a cunt. I love the ending though. |

I'm fairly sure this song is about being stuck in a small, boring suburban/rural town. I grew up in the latter. It gets really depressing, during the summer, one day always seemed to slowly fade into the next day. I remember listening to this song when a cop came flying by my house, ran over my dog, and told me to clean him off the road. Run, spot, run. |

I think it's about the sex life of a rich girl. She's always been rich and she marries someone rich to keep her gold coated lifestyle. The line "you marry your daddy with a different name" means she married someone like her father. As for the part about the curling iron.. I think that's about the sexual frustration she feels from marrying someone just for the money. |

This song was written after the death of john wayne because everyone was mourning someone who, in all truth, wasn't really that great and had some fascist views. And what better way to tell america to get the fuck over it than calling him a nazi? This was done very creatively, definitely MDC at their best. Especially the sweet bassline at the beginning. |

Wow.. nine posts and no one has made even the slightest attempt at figuring out what this song means. Well, I think Dave is describing a younger him and using 'johnny' as a sort of mask. I got that from the "I was a teen-age zombie". He talks about being ignorant, mindless, and brainwashed though which throws me off a bit.. But maybe Dave was an apathetic teen who just didn't give fuck about the things we wrote about later on. He talks about drugs too.. which he did up to the day he died. At least half the RY songs we know and love were recorded Dave fucked outta his head. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this is about Dave's teen-age lifestyle. |
