Anytown Lyrics
Hey, where's spot?
Mom, where's spot?
He ran away
Run, spot, run
At 6 the milkman comes around
Another day in anytown
I wake up with a frown
Another day in anytown
Run, spot, run
I called up Sally, Dick, and Mark
We took my dog spot to the park
We watched him run and heard him bark
Then spot ran way into the dark
Run, spot, run
I had to go and tell my dad
I said, "Anytown just makes me sad."
He said, "Son, that's pretty bad."
He said, "I must be going mad."
Take him away!
I don't wanna live in anytown
Anytown just makes me frown
Mom, where's spot?
He ran away
Another day in anytown
I wake up with a frown
Another day in anytown
We took my dog spot to the park
We watched him run and heard him bark
Then spot ran way into the dark
I said, "Anytown just makes me sad."
He said, "Son, that's pretty bad."
He said, "I must be going mad."
Anytown just makes me frown

I'm fairly sure this song is about being stuck in a small, boring suburban/rural town. I grew up in the latter. It gets really depressing, during the summer, one day always seemed to slowly fade into the next day. I remember listening to this song when a cop came flying by my house, ran over my dog, and told me to clean him off the road. Run, spot, run.
i agree with inside voice. it really does get so boring and depressing you start going crazy and thinking your life is a waste of time because every single day is the fucking same.
i live in the latter of the two (suburb), but it's really really really rich and white upper class. i don't get bored so much as feel loss of meaning because everyone around me (besides my few punk fan friends) lives in McMansions and spends all their time at abercrombie or the country club. i think the official percentage of non white inhabitants where i live is 2%. and it's a 50,000 total pop.
