| Queens of the Stone Age – Regular John Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Well, like you said, the term "John" means someone who is looking for sex/prostitution. So I think the title has a duel meaning, in that he's calling people's numbers from a bathroom stall(a "john"), and he's looking to call up those random numbers for sex(again, being a "John"). | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Regular John Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I seriously see this as some psycho who calls up those random numbers you sometimes see in bathroom stales: that's it. | |
| Man Man – Skin Tension Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I actually think this song is about a stripper that he "fell" for one night. Strippers normally wear glass stilettos, and are associated with doing coke( hides her nose bleeds). On a side note: I think the "ice-cream" line is actual him whispering "I scream". |

| Lagwagon – Messengers Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The song "Love Story" and this(Messenger) are actually 2 songs in 1. They play back-to-back on the album, and EVERY Lagwagon concert I've been to they play both songs back-to-back as if it was one long song. In my opinion, Love Story is about Joey being in a love triangle with someone he loves, but cant let the cat out of the bag, cause its a sticky situation. Hes in a situation where he HAS to make a move towards his feelings, but hes going against his morals. This song(Messenger) is where hes trying to confide in friends, and they are all telling him things he doesn't want to here, or are threatening him in a way. He's sick of his friends, cause they're all going to play as drama queens and tell everybody whats going on, and he's only trying to confide in his feelings. He feels betrayed and hurt, but hes also in a sticky situation. Listen to both songs back-to-back, and you'll realize. |

| Lagwagon – Love Story Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| For some reason, I feel like this song is about a person who is cheating on someone he knows. He loves the person he's seeing, and he knows it wont ever work out, all while trying to fight off all the drama of everybody going against his decisions. In his mind, he wants it to work out, but everybody is condemning him for being a "cheater" on someone he knows, so he hates life, his friends, along with all the senseless drama. It seems stupid to him, cause in his mind its supposed to work out like a love story, so in the end, he has to abandon the entire situation, and feeling guilt about his love and betrayal. | |

I love this song. This is the song that got me into liking them YEARS ago. :) I feel this is Modest Mouses "Rocky Raccoon", if that makes any sense? |

| Slipknot – Wait And Bleed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Good god, is everybody here crazy? Its EXTREMELY clear what this song is about, and you all are missing the point. Lets break it down: -I felt the air rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander out where you can't see Inside my shell I wait and bleed *This is talking about doing some sort of drug. Heroin, crack, meth, etc, it doesn't matter. He says he's getting high, and getting away from people while he does it. -GOODBYE!! *This means his high is wearing off, and now he can see reality again. -I wipe it off the tile, the light is brighter this time Everything is 3-D blasphemy My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up This is not the way I pictured me I can't control my shakes! How the hell did I get here? Something about this, so very wrong I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this Is it a dream or a memory? *The first 2 lines is explaining how hes coming out of everything, and now he's somewhere dingy, probably a bathroom where he shot up. The 3-D blasphemy is talking about reality, and not being high anymore. He rather be high in other words. Then he says his eyes are red from getting high. He can't control his shakes when hes off the drug. He laughs out loud, cause he cant help but do the drug. When he talks about a dream or a memory, hes probably talking about trying to quit in the past, but has failed, and he is victim to the drug once again. -GET OUTTA MY HEAD CUZ I DON'T NEED THIS! *he's fighting with himself inside, knowing he doesn't need to take drugs, but he can't help but do it. He's an addict to whatever he's using. -Why didn't I see this? I'm a victim--Manchurian Candidate *He didn't think he would fall victim to his drug. Probably only used it to party at first, but now his body and mind NEED it. Again, he's an addict. The Manchurian Candidate is the very line that gives the entire song away. He feels like a victim, like he something was implanted in his brain that is telling him to get high, even though he can't stop. In other words, whenever his brain tells him he wants the drug, he HAS to obey. -I-HAVE-SINNED-BY-JUST Makin' my mind up and takin' your breath away *this is can be a little tricky to think about, but I think it means he told someone he was going to stop using, but has changed his mind, hence, taking their breath away. -You haven't learned a thing I haven't changed a thing The flesh was in my bones The pain is always free *He's tried and failed, and can't help but use. All-in-all, this is a pretty straight forward song. Man dying in a tub? I highly doubt it. ;) |

| Pinback – Walters Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song slowly ascends, then ends out of nowhere. Coincidence? I think not!................ | |
| Pinback – Off By 50 Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I would have to agree with most of you that this is a biblical song, or something about death. This song really caught me by surprise. I listened to it, didn't really think to much about it, gave it a second listen, and this song may be the best track on the album. Really is the sleeper hit on the record. |

| Pinback – Good to Sea Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I'm pretty sure this song is about alcohol/drug problems. Hes thinking about his health, hes thinking why the world is such the way it is. In other words, hes starting to realize that there is more out there besides getting all messed up, and now wants to reverse the effects, but his brain is telling him to keep doing it. I'm almost positive this is what its about, and its probably the easiest Pinabck songs to understand. It just has a different beat to the music then what the lyrics suggest. |

| Led Zeppelin – Friends Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I ALWAYS have to listen to this song 2-3 times when I play the album. I think the friggin guitar is to catchy and it boggles my mind how many people haven't heard of this song? | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Is it just me, or does this song sound EXACTLY like the song off of Goodfellas? I think the Pumpkins ripped it off. | |
| Against Me! – Turn Those Clapping Hands into Angry Balled Fists Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I dont agree with you guys exactly. I think this whole song is about touring with bands that they dont like. Every band will do it, and they just dont underdstand some of the crowd. They're talking about flying on airplans and sleep in hotels all sweety. Then it turns on the "fans" are oblivious to all this and sleep in air conditioned houses, and come to the show in perfect denim and black shirts. The lyrics just go back and forth through them and the fans who show up. They drink all night long and break shit, the fans are pussies and clean up messes as soon as it happens. Get it? The lyrics sound like he resents these people, actually, more like hes jealouse of being put into this position all the time. He's kinda homesick and wants to be stable, but he's traveling in hotels touring with a band that he as to act like he likes them. Thats about it. | |
| Against Me! – How Low? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Its just about him waking up late as hell, his 1st meal is at dinner time with his friends(9:00). Then he tells himself hes going to stay in and not go out, but finds himself with his buddies at the bar looking for coke, "waiting to score sweaty money palmed into my hand". They find it and are cutting it up to snort it,"What the fuck are you cutting this with anyway?". Then he goes to bed at around 6 in the morning with a "rolled up dollar bill in [his] hand". Meaning, he stayed up late getting drunk and doing coke, which you snort with a rolled up dollar bill. He wants to get out of his routine, but cant because all his friends that he knows do the exact same thing, hence the last quote, "Thought there was us, now there is no one." Thats about it, its a pretty straight forward song if you ask me. | |
| Against Me! – You Look Like I Need a Drink Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, if you look at all the lyrics and the title, I think the meaning is very clear. The guy just cheated either on his girlfriend or with his best friends girlfriend. He is getting VERY paranoid with images and strange thoughts. So the next time he sees his girlfriend or best friend he's about to tell him cause its eating him up inside. -Look bestfriend I need to tell you something man, you need to sit down for this one. Stop looking at me like that. You look like I need a drink? Get it? |

| Tool – Intension Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about a theory by Terance McKenna called the "stoned monkey" theory. It talks about how before the 1st humns, animal consciousness was a prerational and unselfconscious. When Adam and Eve began to be self-aware, they started on their 1st stages of rationality. The rational mind can distinguish one thing from another. So the early humans had to deal with anxiety of their newly precieved seperation from each other and their enviornment, all while having a strong sense of their own mortality. The 1st humans understood their own mortality and were responsible for their own actions, thus the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. McKenna says, maybe the early hominids, being omnivorous, one day discoverd and ate some kind of psychedelic plant. These plants sharpend the hominids perception, so that they could "sense" predetors better that the ones not taking psychedelics. This could have given the edge on their competetors, making them the ones to survive. I think Intesion and Right in Two are about this very theory. It wouldnt surprise me either, seeing as how I know about this theory through an Alex Grey art book. Its either this theory or about war, who knows for sure? | |

| Queens of the Stone Age – The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is one of the best Queens songs EVER. Anyways, I think its about someone who thinks they're a big shot trying to tell them what to do, or stabing them in the back. Maybe a producer, im not sure? | |
